Counterfeit Money Scam: Police Arrest Seven In Langkawi
Langkawi police chief ACP Shariman Ashari confirmed that authorities have received four reports of counterfeit RM100 notes being used in transactions at businesses in Chenang, Padang Matsirat, and Kuah.
"Following the reports and tips from the public, police apprehended five men and two local women, aged between 24 and 36, in two separate locations starting from 8.30 pm yesterday," he said in a statement tonight.

Seven arrested for using counterfeit money at Langkawi business premises
LANGKAWI: Seven people, including two women, were arrested by police on Saturday on suspicion of using counterfeit banknotes to make payments at several business premises here. District deputy police chief Superintendent Samsulmuddin Sulaiman said the suspects, aged between 24 and 36, were detained following four police reports lodged related to the use of counterfeit banknotes. "The Langkawi district police headquarters received the first report at 8.36pm yesterday. "Four business premises in the Pantai Chenang, Padang Matsirat and Kuah areas were detected receiving payments using RM100 notes suspected to be fake," he said in a statement on Sunday. He added that, based on public information and intelligence, police arrested the seven suspects, who have been remanded for three days until Tuesday to assist with investigations. "Urine tests showed all the suspects tested positive for drugs, and some also have previous records related to drugs and other criminal activities," he said.

Kedah KPDN Arrests Thai Woman For Smuggling Diesel
ALOR SETAR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) arrested a Thai woman for trying to smuggle diesel using a vehicle with a Malaysian registration number plate at a petrol station in Kuala Nerang yesterday. Kedah KPDN director Muhammad Nizam Jamaludin said the woman, in her 40s, was arrested based on a public tip-off and intelligence gathered by Alor Setar KPDN enforcement personnel. 'During initial observations, a pickup truck was seen filling up diesel before heading to the back of the petrol station where the vehicle owner was changing out local registration plates for foreign registration plates.
