Gregg Wallace's ‘MasterChef' Co-Host John Torode Reveals Himself To Be Person Accused Of Using Racist Language

Yahoo2 days ago
John Torode, Gregg Wallace's MasterChef co-presenter, has revealed himself to be the person accused of using racist language in the report published today into Wallace's behavior.
Taking to Instagram, Torode said 'for the sake of transparency I can confirm that I am the individual who is alleged to have used racial language on one occasion.'

Torode, who along with Wallace has presented MasterChef for 20 years, said the incident is alleged to have happened in 2018 or 2019, but he has 'absolutely no recollection of this and I do not believe that it happened.'
'However I want to be clear that I've always had the view that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment,' he added. 'I'm shocked and saddened by the allegations as I would never wish to cause anyone offence.'
Torode came forward around 12 hours after the independent report published into Wallace's behavior, which substantiated 45 of the 83 allegations made against Wallace, whose position hosting MasterChef was described as 'untenable' by the boss of MasterChef production company Banijay UK. Wallace has apologized but reiterated his view that 'none of the serious allegations against me were upheld.'
Aside from Wallace, the report said 10 standalone allegations were made against other people over the period 2012 to 2019, with two of these having been substantiated, one of whom Torode is now revealing to be himself. The other was over a complaint of 'swearing' and Banijay has said it is dealing with both.
In its own statement, the BBC said it 'takes these findings very seriously and we have asked Banijay UK to take action to address these issues, which is underway. This will be completed as a priority.'
Torode struck up a close relationship with Wallace over their two decades presenting MasterChef. When allegations against Wallace first emerged late last year, Torode said he found them 'truly upsetting.'

Nicholas Bailey returning to EastEnders

Nicholas Bailey is returning to EastEnders. The 54-year-old actor is to reprise his role as Dr. Anthony Trueman - who he first played from 2000 to 2003, with occasional returns since - for the first time in 11 years and admitted it is an "unexpected treat" to be going back to Walford to reunite with on-screen dad Rudolph Walker, who plays Albert Square stalwart Patrick Trueman. Nicholas said in a statement: 'It is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I'm full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony. "It's wonderful to work with Rudolph Walker again - he's such a big part of my journey as an actor and I loved filming my first scenes with him after so long. "I'm excited to see what the passage of time has done to Anthony and explore his relationship with Patrick at this stage in their lives.' EastEnders bosses are delighted to have the actor back in the cast. Ben Wadey, EastEnders Executive Producer, said: 'It's great to welcome Nicholas back to the EastEnders family to reunite Patrick with his son. "But Anthony's plan for a brief return to surprise his father ends up with him staying longer than he expected when he uncovers what has been going on in the Trueman household.' Nicholas admitted back in 2018 that he would never close the door on returning to EastEnders because he has always "loved" playing Dr. Trueman. He told The Sun at the time: "I would go back to EastEnders. The character is there and I never say never to anything. If they had a storyline and they had something for me to do then you never say never. The character has been good to me. " I'd never say no. I would never say I'd never come back. It's a character that I love to play. "They know where the phone is." News of Nicholas' return comes in the wake of fellow past EastEnders stars Michelle Ryan (Zoe Slater) and Jake Wood (Max Branning) making comebacks on the soap.

'Nostalgic' UK TV Classic Is Set To Return – And Fans Are Losing Their Everloving Minds

First, came the news that Byker Grove is set to appear on streaming for the very first time (it'll be on STV Player and ITVX by the end of this year – the first five seasons are already available to watch on ITVX). Well, in what seems to be a mega week for '90s and '00s UK babies, now we have more good news from the Beeb ― the broadcaster recently shared on Instagram that nostalgic hit Balamory is 'returning to CBeebies next year.' Originally made from 2002-2005 (a run so short, fans previously expressed shock at the hit's outsized impact), the BBC iPlayer page added: 'Expect the classic theme song, colourful houses, and some familiar faces!' in their caption. Who'll be in the new Balamory cast? On their site, the BBC said that Balamory will 'blend familiar faces with a host of new characters.' Returning to their roles will be Julie Wilson Nimmo (Miss Hoolie), Andrew Agnew (PC Plum), Kim Tserkezie (Penny Pocket) and Juliet Cadzow (Edie McCredie). New faces will include 'scientist and inventor Ava Potts (played by Danielle Jam), the Harbour Master (William Andrews) and local vet Dr Ollie (Carl Spencer) who lives with his two children.' Kate Morton, Head of Commissioning for zero-to-six-year-olds at BBC Children's and Education, said: 'It's wonderful to see some of the original cast returning alongside new faces, creating a perfect mix of nostalgia and discovery for families to enjoy together. 'This vibrant new series will delight both children and the grown-ups who remember it fondly' (I'm in the latter camp). How many new episodes will the new Balamory have? It's been commissioned for two new series, each containing ten 14-minute-long episodes. Will the new Balamory have the original theme tune? Yes (happy days). The BBC shared on Instagram, 'Expect the classic theme song.' When will the new Balamory come out? We don't have an exact date – the BBC simply says, 'Families can look forward to exploring the world of Balamory once again from 2026.' What has the reaction been to the new Balamory? Fans like me are delighted. 'This is sooo nostalgic for kids (now adults) and parents!' an Instagram user wrote. 'YESSSSS I'M 25 AND I'M SAT,' another shared.
