Kirk Hammett to support book, art while in Toronto for Metallica's two shows
Guitarist Kurt Hammett will appear at TIFF Lightbox on April 25 to support his new coffee table book, The Collection: Kirk Hammett, where he will be joined by Mark Agnesi of Gibson for a live discussion.
Meanwhile on the same day, The Art of Squindo, a Q&A with Hammett about his cartoon-style fine art and sculpting, will take place at the Lounge at Live Nation.
And lastly, the Metallica tribute band, Sandman, will perform at the Velvet Underground on April 25.
Tickets for all three events are on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.ca.

Megadeth, the thrash metal powerhouse formed by Dave Mustaine after he was kicked out of Metallica, will disband after a final studio album and world tour in 2026. Mustaine founded Megadeth in 1983 after his ouster from Metallica, the groundbreaking metal band he had co-founded and for which he co-wrote four tracks on its landmark debut, 'Kill 'Em All,' including 'Jump in the Fire' and 'The Four Horsemen.' Megadeth's debut album arrived in 1985, but it was the 1986 follow-up, 'Peace Sells… but Who's Buying? ,' that cemented the band's place in metal, showcasing a punk-tinged political edge that has defined its music ever since. The group is considered a cornerstone of the 'Big Four' of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax. It has earned five platinum albums in the United States and influenced generations of metal musicians. Megadeth 's current lineup includes Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and drummer Dirk Verbeuren. Mustaine, who revealed a throat cancer diagnosis in 2019 and announced his recovery a year later, also plans to release a new memoir in 2026. 'We've made a lot of friends over the years,' he said. Thank you for everything.' Megadeth's final LP has been in production since November 2024 and in June 2025 Mustaine reported that the album was nearing it's final stages in recording. However, unlike most of Megadeth's previous LPs, The End Is Near won't be releasing via Universal Music Group, but instead will be released via a partnership with Mustaine's label Tradecraft and Frontiers Label Group. With the album likely being already finished, Megadeth are probably eyeing an early 2026 release timeline. Right now the band is gearing up for an extensive fall EU tour supporting Disturbed which will conclude October 28th. With that in mind, it doesn't seem plausible for Megadeth to drop the album in 2025, as they'll ideally want to kick off their headlining farewell tour and support the LP simultaneously. Furthermore, Megadeth has announced pre-orders for the album will be begin 42 days from now, which likely means it's releasing in early 2026. As Dave Mustaine states, Megadeth's final album-tour cycle will be over the course of multiple years. It appears this will in fact be Megadeth's final album and tour, but as other thrash metal icons have demonstrated, specifically Slayer with their mis-leading farewell in 2018-2019, a farewell tour isn't always indicative of retirement.
