'Harry Potter' HBO series continues casting, picking Draco, Lucius Malfoy
'Harry Potter' HBO series continues casting, picking Draco, Lucius Malfoy Show Caption Hide Caption Harry Potter's Tom Felton talks Broadway at Tony Awards Tom Felton talks about joining the Broadway show "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" at the Tony Awards red carpet. The cast of the highly anticipated "Harry Potter" TV show is continuing to take shape. Draco Malfoy, Harry's classmate and foil, will be played by Lox Pratt, while his father, Lucius Malfoy, will be played by Johnny Flynn. Pratt is best known for the BBC's television adaptation of "Lord of the Flies," while Flynn stars in the Netflix thriller "Ripley" and appeared in the 2020 adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma" alongside Anya Taylor-Joy. Some of Harry's kin have also been cast – Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon Dursley will be played by Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby, respectively. Molly Weasley, the mother of main character Ron Weasley, will be played by Katherine Parkinson, and Bertie Carvel will portray Cornelius Fudge. Meet your new Harry Potter: HBO series casts Harry, Ron and Hermione The HBO show, which is expected to premiere toward the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027, follows in the footsteps of a wildly successful movie franchise and an even more successful book series. J.K. Rowling, the author of the wizarding novels, will serve as executive producer on the program. 'Harry Potter' cast: Who's starring in HBO show? In May, the actors who would portray the three leading characters – Harry, Ron and Hermione – were announced following a casting call put out by the studio seeking actors between the ages of 9 and 11 for the parts. The show appears intent on casting actors who mirror the real ages of the characters in the series. Dominic McLaughlin is set to play Harry, while Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout will play Ron. Tom Felton weighs in on J.K. Rowling controversy as he sets 'Harry Potter' Broadway run Much like the actors who played the wizarding trio in the original films, McLaughlin, Stanton and Stout will age in real time alongside their characters as the television show is released over the course of 10 years. Through a television series format as opposed to the films, the show will be able to "dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years,' according to Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content. The series had previously cast several of its supporting roles, with John Lithgow set to play Dumbledore, Nick Frost starring as Hagrid and Paapa Essiedu playing Snape. It has not yet been announced who will play Voldemort, the series' overarching villain portrayed in the movies by Ralph Fiennes. Fiennes himself has backed the idea of Cillian Murphy getting the role. Contributing: Brendan Morrow, Mary Walrath-Holdridge

Look: 'Love is Blind: UK's Bobby, Jasmine Johnson expecting child
June 10 (UPI) -- Love is Blind: UK Season 1 stars Bobby and Jasmine Johnson announced Monday that they are expecting their first child together. The couple shared the news on Instagram with a rap song and video. "We sit and talk on rainy days, just debating baby names, but our minds keep changing day to day -- they never stay the same," Bobby rapped. "I'm looking at your baby bump... I guess we'll have to wait until the day you come, to know if you're our daughter or our baby son. I'll be happy either way. Tears of joy I wipe away. Ever since I found out I can't sleep and I've been wide awake." "I hope I'll be a better dad, and give you what we never had," he continued. "Turn the pain to purpose -- you don't have to hurt the way we have." Jasmine Johnson captioned the video with a message seemingly written directly to the baby on the way. "I've pictured your tiny face a thousand times. I've dreamt of this moment long before I knew how good life could get. Then I met your dad and the rest was written in love." Season 1 of Love is Blind: UK aired in August. The show follows singles as they get to know potential matches without seeing one another right away. Netflix announced a summer release for Season 2 last week and confirmed the series has been renewed for Season 3.

Is ‘Dept. Q' returning for season 2? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on June 10, 2025, 18:00 IST Last updated June 10, 2025, 11:24 IST Netflix's gripping crime thriller Dept. Q has captivated audiences since its debut on May 29, 2025. With its intense plot, stellar cast, and atmospheric Edinburgh setting, fans are eagerly asking: Is Dept. Q Season 2 happening? Here's everything we know so far. Overview of Dept. Q Season 1 Dept. Q , based on Jussi Adler-Olsen's bestselling Danish novel series, follows Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck (Matthew Goode), a brilliant but troubled detective tasked with leading a cold case unit in Edinburgh. After a traumatic shooting that left one officer dead and his partner, James Hardy (Jamie Sives), paralyzed, Morck is relegated to the basement to head Dept. Q—a unit initially set up as a PR stunt. Alongside his team, including Syrian former cop Akram (Alexej Manvelov) and cadet Rose (Leah Byrne), Morck tackles the mysterious disappearance of prosecutor Merritt Lingard (Chloe Pirrie). The nine-episode season, created by Scott Frank ( The Queen's Gambit ), has earned praise for its compelling narrative and strong performances, boasting an 8.3/10 on IMDb and 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Has Dept. Q Been Renewed for Season 2? As of June 10, 2025, Netflix has not officially confirmed a second season for Dept. Q . However, there are strong indicators that a renewal is likely. The show's positive reception, coupled with its rapid rise to Netflix's Top 10 in 72 countries, suggests it has garnered significant viewership. Creator Scott Frank and lead actor Matthew Goode have both expressed enthusiasm for continuing the series, and the wealth of source material—Adler-Olsen's 10-book series—provides ample content for future seasons. Release Date Speculation for Dept. Q Season 2 Without an official renewal, no release date has been confirmed. However, based on Season 1's production timeline—filming began in early 2024 and premiered in mid-2025—a similar schedule could see Season 2 arrive in late 2026 or early 2027. If production starts in early 2026, a premiere between September 2026 and March 2027 is a plausible option. Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication .
