AAP collapsing, brick by brick… sooner than expected, says Punjab Congress' Warring
Leading the attack the ruling party was Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring who said Maan was the second AAP legislator to be 'out of the party' in less than a month. The AAP on June 29 suspended Amritsar North MLA and former IPS officer Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh for five years for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities.
'The rate at which the MLAs have started to quit or are made to quit suggests that the party's countdown has begun sooner than we expected. The AAP is collapsing, and it is happening brick by brick,' said Warring.
The Congress leader pointed out that only three days ago, Maan had met the party convener, Arvind Kejriwal and had said, 'his dream of uplifting society always fills us with courage and inspiration'.
What happened to that 'courage and inspiration' within three days, Warring asked.
Warring said if the AAP's own MLAs are feeling so much 'alienated' and 'disillusioned' that they are quitting the party, what would be the plight of the common man who does not have any privileges like those of the legislators?
Observing that all is not well in the AAP, he pointed out, 'One MLA was suspended from the party and within less than a month another MLA has resigned, even saying to have quit politics'.
'While it, indeed, is the AAP's internal matter, but when a fire breaks out inside the house, the flames do get noticed far and wide and cannot be overlooked,' the Congress leader said.
BJP leader Vineet Joshi said Maan's resignation as Kharar MLA is a 'betrayal and treachery' with the five-year mandate given by the people.
Before her, MLA Kanwar Sandhu remained absent from the assembly constituency for four years, and now Anmol's resignation within three years of getting elected clearly shows that the AAP is repeatedly 'betraying' Kharar by fielding 'wrong' candidates, the BJP leader said.
Joshi further said that Maan's tenure of three years and four months for the Kharar Assembly constituency was nothing short of a bad dream. 'The people of Kharar city, Kurali, New Chandigarh, Nayagaon Municipal Committee, and most villages were deprived of even seeing the face of their MLA, who was also a minister for some time,' he said in a statement.
On the rare days she did venture out, JCB machines accompanied her, and people's shops and homes were demolished, he alleged. 'When the Punjab government tried to illegally and forcibly seize farmers' land in Jhajjheri, Maan was missing,' Joshi alleged.
Similarly, when thousands of homes faced demolition in the Nayagaon municipality due to the expansion of the Eco-Sensitive Zone from 100 meters to three kilometers, Anmol remained silent initially, he added.
Taking a dig, Joshi said, 'If you wanted to quit politics, why did you join in the first place?'

'Opposition reduced itself to opposing everything for political reasons'

The people of Bihar are highly aware and understand the benefits of such an exercise, and they will not be misled by the Opposition. The NDA will not face any negative electoral consequences; in fact, it is the Opposition—which has been exploiting the inclusion of ineligible voters without proper documentation—that is alarmed by SIR. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is known for making baseless allegations simply to distract the public. In fact, he was the one who previously advocated for electoral roll revisions after his party's defeat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi's intention is only to create confusion among the public about every initiative. But the people of Bihar are wise and understand his motives well. At hometurf, Mann's warning to BJP leaders: ‘Refrain from jeopardising development work in Punjab'
Slamming the BJP for creating 'unnecessary obstacles' in developmental projects, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday warned its leaders to 'refrain from cheap tactics to jeopardise the state's development'. Mann was at Sanatan Dharamshala in Dhuri, Sangrur district in Punjab, where he handed over cheques worth Rs 3.07 crore for several development projects. Asserting though the Punjab government is set to construct a railway over bridge (ROB) in Dhuri — for which it has received permission from the Ministry of Railways — several 'politicians with vested interests are creating hurdles in the project commencement'. Mann said: 'The estimated project cost is nearly Rs 54.74 crore, and once the ROB is built, the railway crossing (phatak) would be closed, affecting the market below the ROB. So, for usual market operations, we proposed that the level crossing gate below the ROB should not be closed. However, the Ministry of Railways said it could not be done 'as per their rules'… Therefore, we (the state government) decided to fully fund the ROB project.' However, a senior Punjab BJP leader recently visited Dhuri and issued a statement to 'scuttle the project for his vested political interests', Mann said, adding 'such theatricals will not be tolerated, and the wise people of Punjab will teach a befitting lesson to such politicians'. Notably, Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu — who visited Dhuri a few weeks ago — had said the 'ROB project was already approved by the Railways, and the Punjab Chief Minister was just taking fake credit'. Asserting he is in contact with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding the ROB project, Mann said: 'We have sought permission from the Railways regarding the project work (with the funds released, and already in place). The work will commence soon.' On the cards: sports stadium, UPSC coaching centre Mann further announced that in Dhuri, the state government will build a modern sports stadium, and UPSC coaching centre (among the eight to be established across Punjab), at the earliest. The construction work of the Sangrur Medical College will also commence soon, he added. Several initiatives for facilitating new industrial units and expanding the existing ones are also in place, Mann said. He further hailed initiatives like the Sadak Suraksha Force for 'road safety', and the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna for 'cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per family', among others. On advancing paddy transplantation in the state, Mann said the Punjab government has appealed to the Centre to prepone the paddy procurement by 15 days i.e. from September 15 onwards, 'so that farmers can sell the crop smoothly'. 'This will enable farmers to bring moisture-free grains to mandis, thereby, ensuring a smooth procurement,' he said. Public library inaugurated Later in the day, Mann inaugurated a public library, constructed at a cost of Rs 1.59 crore, in his constituency Dhuri. The newly built two-storey building has a covered area of 3,710 square feet, and is equipped with WiFi and solar power digital analogs. 'This library has world-class books on contemporary literature and curriculum books, providing a rich learning experience,' Mann was quoted as saying in a statement. 'The state government is implementing a plan to establish modern libraries in every Assembly constituency…,' he said, adding this initiative is a major step towards promoting education, literacy, and community development in rural areas. -With PTI inputs
