Only Indian man ever who had his private railway station, train used to reach his palace, his name was..., was from...

Nawab Hamid Ali Khan Nawab of India who had his own private railway station: You must have heard many stories about the rich Nawabs of India who carried a rich cultural lineage. From the likes of Nawab of Hyderabad – Mir Osman Ali Khan to Nawab of Pataudi – Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan & Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the stories of Indian Nawabs have been covered in much detail. However, do you know the story of the Indian Nawab who had his personal private railway station and a train running till his palace. Here are all the details you need to know about Nawab Hamid Ali Khan, one of the richest Nawabs of India. Who is Nawab Hamid Ali Khan? As India struggled under the British Raj in the early 20th century, the princely state of Rampur was glowing quiet opulence and the Nawab of the state, Nawab Hamid Ali Khan enjoyed a rich empire including a private railway station which was used only by the royal family of Rampur. Did Nawab Hamid Ali Khan own a Private Railway station? The Nawab Hamid Ali Khan enjoyed such a rich lifestyle that while most Indians couldn't afford a second-class ticket, he had two royal salon coaches permanently stationed and ready to roll. Equipped with chandeliers, carved furniture, Persian carpets and even separate kitchens for Indian vegetarian and English non-vegetarian cuisines, the Railway coaches of Nawab Hamid Ali Khan weren't just compartments but moving Royal palaces. What happened to Railway coaches of Nawab Hamid Ali Khan? Talking about what happened to the Railway compartments, Nawab Raza Ali Khan gifted two royal coaches to the Government of India after partition in 1954. The coaches remained in use until 1966 which was surprisingly the Nawab's year of death. Following his death in 1966, the activity at the private station of Nawab Hamid Ali Khan declined significantly and around the same period, the abolition of the privy purse—a financial allowance to former princely states also led to the eventual closure of the private railway station.

Avinashi Road flyover will be ready by Aug 15: Minister

Photo by P Sreedharan COIMBATORE: Work on the Avinashi Road flyover would be completed by Aug 15, minister for public works E V Velu said on Saturday. The minister inspected work on the flyover stretching from Uppilipalayam to Goldwins. He also inspected work on the Thanthai Periyar Library and Science Centre in Gandhipuram. The minister said work on the flyover was progressing well. 'Once it is completed, subways may be constructed, if necessary, for pedestrians to cross the road (below the flyover),' he told reporters. Speaking about the construction of the Thanthai Periyar Library and Science Centre, he said the building would have seven floors, excluding the ground floor. Currently, work on the sixth and seventh floors is under way. 'Quality control engineers are regularly monitoring the construction to ensure it meets standards, and the project is expected to be completed by December,' he said. The library would house books in various categories, including Tamil, English, and general subjects, along with resources for students preparing for competitive exams. 'An auditorium is also being constructed, and a review is under way to increase its seating capacity from the current 350 seats," he said. Drishti bommai pictures removed Two 'drishti bommai' pictures were spotted at the library construction site. The installation of drishti bommais at the site drew criticism from rationalist groups. When asked about them, the minister said, 'I am a Periyarist. I do not support such practices. The contractor may have installed the pictures due to personal beliefs. The govt did not instruct anyone to place them. Once the work is over, these pictures will be removed from the site.' Following the backlash, the contractor removed the pictures from the construction site in the evening.

UK's Power Vocabulary tool powers language learning in India through stories

London, Jul 19 (PTI) An innovative English learning tool devised by a UK-based Indian-origin edtech entrepreneur using classic stories is now being used by children in India to help enhance literacy outcomes and bridge gaps in speech. Power Vocabulary, conceptualised by Champs Learning founder Nishikant Kothikar, was originally designed for the England school curriculum but has proved very effective in India, where English proficiency is seen as vital for academic success and competitive exams. 'The majority of people use the same 500 words, so our children tend to follow what they hear. The only way to expand your vocabulary is by reading. The more you read, the wider the scope, the better your language skills become," said Kothikar. Learning from his own educational experiences, the edtech expert was inspired to create Power Vocabulary to help pupils move beyond rote memorisation to a more engaging learning method by associating words with images and stories. The module claims to be unlike conventional vocabulary apps or rote word lists because it is story-driven and visual-based. Power Vocabulary functions by offering words selected from classic children's literature, visual imagery for strong word associations, audio pronunciation guides with easy phonetic cues and a structured weekly learning model aligned with book-based modules. This multi-sensory approach enhances memory retention, making language learning fun, intuitive, and lasting. Its simplicity and use of children's adventure stories are said to captivate learners and motivate continued reading. Building on its initial success, Power Vocabulary is being scaled independently through ITTRP Pvt Ltd – a multinational technology partner with offices in the UK, US and India. 'Users maximise learning by completing exercises each week and taking assessments after five weeks. Motivated learners are encouraged to create their own sentences using new words to deepen understanding," said Champs Learning, which is designed to offer structured academic support in Maths, English, Science, and Reasoning for primary and secondary students across the UK and India.
