Eda Ezrin denies connection to drug bust involving TikToker
The 30-year-old, who has been in custody since November last year, said she had no ties to Yuyu, who was recently arrested with five others and found in possession of drugs worth more than RM5 million.
In a brief 30-minute interview at the prison today, Eda hoped her fans would not associate her with individuals involved in drug-related activities simply because of a TikTok clip circulating on social media.
"I'm just an ordinary singer. I have no connection whatsoever with the woman named Yuyu.
"She is not my friend, as claimed online. I've only met her a few times at social gatherings. She is a friendly person and often invites people to join her TikTok live sessions," she said.
Eda said prison officers had informed her about the viral content, and she was shocked to learn that her casual interaction with Yuyu in a short video had sparked misunderstanding.
"I want to clarify this to my fans so they do not view me negatively. I have never been involved in any unlawful activity," she said.
Appearing composed throughout the interview, Eda expressed hope that her family and supporters would continue praying for her, her husband, and the four others detained with them to be released soon.
"However, if it is my fate to remain in prison longer, as I've been informed that the Thai prosecutors are still appealing my case, I will accept it with an open heart," she said.
Eda, whose full name is Wan Norshaheeda Azlin Wan Ismail; her husband Mohd Affendi Ahmad, 35; and their friends; Eridieka Mohd Noor, 33; Mohamad Alif Deraman, 33; Nur Aida Mamat, 33; and Zuhaira Nasrin, 26; have been in prison for nearly nine months.
The six were arrested for allegedly possessing 6,059 methamphetamine pills.
In March, the Narathiwat Court acquitted them of jointly possessing the pills with intent to distribute, but allowed prosecutors to appeal the decision.

Kelantan police to record statements from Eda Ezrin, 5 others today
RANTAU PANJANG: Kelantan police are expected to record statements today from singer Eda Ezrin and five others who were released from Narathiwat prison yesterday. A police spokesman said their statements would be taken shortly after their arrival at the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex here this morning. In addition to taking their statements, the spokesman said urine samples would also be collected for screening purposes. He said this process would be carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) from the state police headquarters. "The statements and the urine tests are expected to take more than two hours," the spokesman added. Meanwhile, two police vans were spotted outside the checkpoint on standby to transport the group. Yesterday, Eda Ezrin, whose real name is Wan Norshaheeda Azlin Wan Ismail, along with her husband and four friends, were released from Narathiwat Central Prison after the court rejected the prosecution's sixth application to appeal its March ruling against the six. The group had previously been held on suspicion of involvement in drug-related offences, although the case was never brought to trial. Their release marks the end of months-long legal proceedings in the Thai courts.

Luxury cars seized in RTD crackdown over expired road tax
SHAH ALAM: Four motorists, including a woman from China, were forced to return home using e-hailing services after their luxury vehicles were seized by the Road Transport Department (RTD) last night. The vehicles were impounded after they were found to have been driven with expired road tax during a five-hour special operation, dubbed "Ops Pengarah," conducted by the Selangor RTD. The operation started at 8.30pm at the Kota Kemuning Toll Plaza along the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas). The seizures began when personnel stopped a Mercedes-Benz S400 driven by a woman from China. Upon inspection, they found she was driving a vehicle without a valid road tax or insurance for over a year. The 41-year-old woman, who is married to a Malaysian, was also driving without a valid driver's licence. Personnel then detected another case involving a 25-year-old Malaysian man who explained that the Toyota Vellfire MPV he was driving had been purchased just three months ago. He said the luxury MPV was bought by his brother through a "sambung bayar" (loan takeover) arrangement with the original owner. The man said he had informed the original owner to renew the road tax, but the owner claimed he could not do so because of outstanding summonses. Both motorists were forced to take e-hailing rides home as RTD officers seized their vehicles. Meanwhile, RTD Selangor director Azrin Borhan revealed that from January to July this year, a total of 16,735 offences were recorded involving individuals driving without a valid licence. "Of that number, heavy vehicle drivers made up the largest group with 7,116 cases, followed by motorcyclists (6,596), car drivers (2,576), and public transport operators (447)," he said. "For the same period, there were also 25,338 road tax-related offences." It was recently revealed that some owners of high-powered luxury vehicles are allegedly choosing not to renew their road tax and insurance because the fines are cheaper.

Taiwan-based Malaysian singer Gary Chaw reportedly hasn't moved on from ex-wife: 'Still in pain'
It's been nearly three years since Malaysian singer Gary Chaw divorced Taiwanese fashion blogger Wu Shuling, but it seems he hasn't fully moved on. The 46-year-old recently shared on Xiaohongshu (Red Note) a video of himself singing his 2019 song I'm Just A Fool – a ballad in which he confronts his shortcomings and expresses his unconditional devotion. The post quickly drew attention, with many netizens praising Chaw's soulful vocals, while others shared how the performance evoked a deep sense of nostalgia. According to China Press, Chaw also left two comments about Wu under his video. The former couple, who divorced in November 2022 after 14 years of marriage, share two children – Joe, 16, and Grace, 14. 'I still haven't forgotten Shuling,' read one of the comments. 'Actually, I'm still in pain,' he wrote in another. It's reported that Chaw later deleted both comments mentioning Wu. This isn't the first time the singer has shown that he's still struggling to move on. In July 2023, Chaw made a series of Instagram posts about his ex-wife and their children – including a throwback wedding photo of him and Wu smiling blissfully. 'I'm messed up... But I still love her,' he wrote at that time. A few months later, while performing his song Zhang Wen during a concert in Taipei, Chaw altered the original lyric 'There is no winning or losing' to 'There is no Shuling'. 'I still love her… Taking it one step at a time,' he said back then.
