Buzz Feed31-01-2025

It's no secret that Lana Condor and Chase Stokes are two young actors that we simply adore. From their respective work in To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Outer Banks, we simply cannot get enough of them.
And now they've teamed up for a brand-new movie called Valiant One. The new film centers on Captain Edward Brockman (Stokes) and Specialist Selby (Condor), who must lead their team through hostile terrain after a US Army helicopter crashes deep within North Korean territory.
So, to celebrate their new film, we had Lana and Chase take a costar test to prove how well they actually know each other behind the scenes, and it's simply the best.

While they couldn't quite nail down each other's birthdays, they did remember the very wholesome last texts they sent each other.
And they got to learn some new things about each other, too. Like, Chase found out that Brenda Song in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody is what inspired Lana to become an actor.
It's the duo we never knew we needed until right now.

And be sure to check out Valiant One, which is in theaters now.

Enchanting puzzler Planet of Lana is getting a sequel next year, and I'm already convinced it's going to be more heartbreaking than the last just from its announcement trailer

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf has been revealed during the Xbox showcase, and its announcement trailer has given us the first look at what to expect from the next cinematic puzzle adventure with Lana and Mui. Promising an "unforgettable" journey after something mysterious emerges from Novo's hidden depths, this anticipated sequel will put Lana and Mui's bond to the ultimate test. It's impossible to dissect exactly what that means, especially since all the information we've had so far is from an announcement trailer. But, that doesn't mean there aren't already some notable improvements off the back of the first game. One of the main features that has been improved from the previous game is the companion gameplay. You'll be able to control Miu to deepen your exploration, as well as have more precise control over things like collaborative puzzle solving. After all, if there's one thing that's memorable about the original game, it's the puzzles it challenges you to solve. Children of the Leaf will also feature a wider variety of physics-based puzzles for you to navigate. The game also promises a deeper, far more epic story. Alongside uncovering the mysteries of the hidden depths and having their bond tested, the game will also focus on Lana's own demons and the darkest secrets of the planet you're exploring. If the first game wasn't emotional enough, then I guarantee the sequel will do all it can to bring a tear to your eye. I'll be honest, the music of the first Planet of Lana is enough to move me. Pile on some deep backstory and I guarantee I'll be a wreck. Currently, Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf is scheduled for a 2026 release, but no further details have been given so it could be a long while before we embark on the next epic adventure with Lana and co. At least the trailer has given us enough of the world to get lost in without having to step foot into it ourselves. Yet. I'm sure that feeling won't last though.

Jonathan Daviss To Star As Snoop Dogg In Universal's Craig Brewer-Directed Biopic

EXCLUSIVE: Jonathan Daviss is set to star as venerable hip hop artist Snoop Dogg in the definitive biopic from Universal Pictures. Best known for Outer Banks, Daviss takes the lead role days after the studio set Craig Brewer to direct the film. The film will be produced by Snoop Dogg, Brian Grazer and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker. More from Deadline Snoop Dogg Film To Be Directed By 'Hustle & Flow's Craig Brewer At Universal BET Honoring Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Jamie Foxx & Kirk Franklin With Ultimate Icon Award Every 'The Voice' Winner Since Season 1, Including 9 Team Blake Champions Daviss hails from Houston and played the role of Pope in the Netflix YA drama Outer Banks. In 2022, he starred in Netflix's Do Revenge opposite Sophie Turner, Maya Hawke and Austin Abrams. Previous credits include Age of Summer and Edge of the World. The film is a look at how Calvin Broadus Jr. entered into the West Coast hip hop fray. Taking the moniker Snoop Doggy Dogg (he'd later drop the middle name), Snoop brought his laid back drawling delivery and sharp lyrics to Death Row Records, where he worked with Dr Dre on his smash debut album Doggystyle. He broadened into other platforms to the point he might well be seen rubbing elbows with Martha Stewart or getting in the pool with Michael Phelps during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he became one of the high points of that Olympiad on NBC and Peacock. The film is the first project under Death Row Pictures' overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios as the label moves into motion pictures. Numerous of Snoop's recent forays are tied to NBCUniversal; he's returning to NBC's musical competition series The Voice this fall, reclaiming his red chair for Season 28. The Snoop Dogg film becomes Universal's third outing about the formative stories of hip hop icons. The others include the Eminem-starrer 8 Mile, and Straight Outta Compton traced the roots of the seminal rap group N.W.A and its rise to become one of the most influential acts of the gangsta rap and West Coast hip hop subgenres. Universal SVP Production Development Ryan Jones and Director of Development Tony Ducret will oversee the project for the studio. Daviss is represented by Monster Talent, Innovative Artists and Skrzyniarz & Mallean. Netflix just added an 'underrated' crime thriller show that's already crashed the top 10 — and there are 6 seasons to binge-watch now

Thriller fans are being well-served by Netflix this month. Along with NBC's "Blindspot," the streaming service recently welcomed family crime thriller "Animal Kingdom" to the platform — and it looks to be a hit with streamers. For the uninitiated, "Animal Kingdom" is a gritty drama that originally ran for six seasons between 2016 and 2022, airing on TNT in the U.S. It's based on the 2010 Australian movie of the same name, and throws us in with a chaotic, dysfunctional family who operate a criminal enterprise out of Southern California. "Animal Kingdom" was one of the many new things added to Netflix at the start of the month, and it's been a mainstay in the Netflix Top 10 ever since. Over a week after it arrived, it's still sitting at the #7 spot, not far behind Netflix Originals like "The Survivors," "Ginny & Georgia" and "Sirens." Trying to decide whether to stream "Animal Kingdom" on Netflix? You can find a little more info about the show and hear what viewers have to say about the streamer's new arrival. TNT's "Animal Kingdom" is a crime drama based on the 2010 Australian movie of the same name. The show revolves around the Cody family. We follow young Joshua "J" Cody ("Peaky Blinders" star Finn Cole), who moves in with his estranged relatives after his mother dies of an overdose The Codys, as it turns out, run a criminal enterprise out of Oceanside, California, with J's tough grandmother Janine "Smurf" Cody (Ellen Barkin) at the helm. The dysfunctional Cody dynasty funds its lifestyle through (among other things) heists, and J's quickly sucked into this dangerous criminal world of shifting loyalties and secrets. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In addition to Cole and Barkin, "Animal Kingdom" also stars Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Molly Gordon and Carolina Guerra, among others. "Animal Kingdom" comes reasonably well-recommended. While the series doesn't have a complete critics' rating on the review aggregate site, Rotten Tomatoes, the first two seasons hold ratings of 76% and 80%, respectively, with the site's consensus on the first season reading: "Bolstered by Ellen Barkin's acting prowess, 'Animal Kingdom' is a darkly intriguing, although occasionally predictable, twisted family drama." Fellow viewers, however, rate it significantly higher; the show has an average Popcornmeter rating of 87% and has drawn some very high praise for the acting, the (occasionally predictable) twists and more. Comparisons to "Sons of Anarchy" seem common, too. The show's subreddit is being taken over by newcomers who've stumbled onto "Animal Kingdom" now that it's on Netflix, talking it up, while original fans have been discussing rewatching the show from the start, or hoping that the drama finally gets the reception they believe it's always deserved. Looking through reactions in both places, I've seen the word "underrated" thrown around plenty of times, so I'm not too surprised to see "Animal Kingdom" has continued to be a top Netflix watch in the days since its arrival on the platform. I only just started streaming the show myself (it passed me by the first time around), so I wouldn't want to give my own "Animal Kingdom" verdict just yet. However, from the position of being an "Animal Kingdom" newcomer, I can say that I'm intrigued by what I've seen so far, and I'm keen to see what trouble lies ahead for J, Smurf and the rest of the Cody family across these six seasons. If you're between Netflix binges and you're looking to sink your teeth into a gritty family thriller, one that boasts a cast of very questionable characters, then it certainly feels like "Animal Kingdom" will fit the bill just fine. And with dozens of episodes available to watch right now, it should keep you busy for some time. Not sold on streaming "Animal Kingdom?" We can still help you find your next must-watch show.
