CM Maryam reviews Lahore, Punjab development programmes
It was apprised in the meeting that out of 5643 projects of Phase-I of Lahore Development Programme, 2593 projects have been completed. Out of 3705 projects of Lahore Municipal Corporation, 2274 projects have been completed. Out of 252 projects of WASA Lahore, 170 projects have also been completed. The meeting reviewed the progress of 1573 projects related to WASA projects.
The chief minister directed to beautify newly constructed roads and streets. She also set a target of completing Phase-I of Lahore Development Plan in November 2025. As many as 146 development projects of Allama Iqbal Town, Wagah and Aziz Bhatti Town have been included in Phase-II of Lahore Development Programme. A report on the construction, repair and rehabilitation projects of 189 cities under the Punjab Development Programme was also submitted to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Punjab to distribute loans under ‘livestock card phase-II'
LAHORE: The Punjab government is set to launch the second phase of its livestock card initiative which will see the distribution of loans against 300,000 animals to farmers across the province over a six-month period. The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Livestock and Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani where progress on several key initiatives in the livestock sector was reviewed. Under Phase-2, the number of animals allocated per farmer has been increased, allowing each beneficiary to receive between 5-20 animals. So far, over 150,000 applications have been received for the scheme while the urban unit has already completed physical verification of 161,000 animals, with the remaining verification work currently underway. The meeting, held at the livestock department also included a comprehensive review of the recovery progress from livestock card phase-1. The Minister was informed that 95 percent of the recovery process had been completed. He congratulated the divisional directors and officers across Punjab for their performance, noting that their dedication reflected the department's commitment to achieving its targets. He directed that the remaining five percent of recoveries be completed at the earliest and instructed the Punjab monitoring desk to immediately share pending data with the urban unit. Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani emphasized that all animals being distributed under the scheme will be tagged for identification and traceability. He further announced that as part of Phase-2, 5,500 animals will also be distributed among rural women in 12 districts of South Punjab. Applications for this initiative are being received from June 20 to July 20, and more than 58,000 have been submitted so far. The Minister praised the livestock initiatives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, stating that farmers are already witnessing the economic benefits of these programs. He expressed confidence that the continued implementation of livestock projects will significantly uplift rural livelihoods. During the meeting, the Minister was also briefed on the department's preparedness in the light of potential flooding across Punjab due to the ongoing monsoon season. Punjab CM, Bangladesh HC for enhancing bilateral cooperation
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif met Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Iqbal Hussain Khan in which matters pertaining to enhancing bilateral cooperation, mutual trade, industry and agriculture were discussed. The Bangladesh High Commissioner appreciated the public welfare initiatives and development projects of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The Chief Minister while talking on the occasion said that Pakistan and Bangladesh are two branches of the same tree as our roots are deeply embedded in common history and culture. She outlined, 'Punjab duly appreciates Bangladesh's achievements in the field of garments industry, microfinance and women's workforce. Collaboration in women-led industrial clusters and digital upskilling programs under the 'Women First' agenda from Bangladesh will be welcomed.' She highlighted, 'There is also a vast scope for extensive cooperation between Punjab and Bangladesh in the field of agriculture and food security. Under the MoU in January 2025, Punjab has exported 50,000 tonnes of high-quality rice to Bangladesh. For pharma and medical devices, Punjab can provide Bangladesh with world-class laboratories, cheaper surgical exports and joint branding opportunities.' She maintained, 'Bangladesh's steps such as ease of visa clearance, relaxation in inspection and abolition of Dhaka airport security desk manifest a sign of mutual trust.' The CM affirmed, 'We deeply welcome the establishment of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Joint Chamber of Commerce in Lahore and Dhaka. Bangladeshi investors will be provided with all possible facilities through One Window Business Centres. It is a great honour for us to participate in the Vision 2030 'Women First' Summit, which is not just a diplomatic meeting but a foundation for a lasting partnership based on shared values, mutual respect.' CM for digital payment system for public transport
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a special meeting in which a detailed review was taken regarding Transport Department and Mass Transit Authority. The meeting decided to introduce a digital payment system for Metro Bus and Orange Line in Punjab. It was informed in the meeting that the token system will be abolished in Orange Line train and Metro Bus and a Barcode system will be introduced through card-based payment. Fare can be paid through credit card, debit card/ATM card and mobile account app. Fare can also be paid through NFC i.e. card tap and touch in the mass transit system. Fare can be paid only through credit card and debit card on Metro Bus in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The token system will be abolished soon by implementing an e-payment system in Lahore's Orange Line train. Fare can be paid through credit card, debit card, payment apps on Lahore's Orange Line train. The meeting also decided to introduce a single card for the mass transit system across the province. The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the T-Cash card for the mass transit system. Travel on every metro bus or Orange Line across the province will be possible through the T-Cash card system. A separate card will be introduced for students in the mass transit system. The chief minister also gave in-principle approval for recruitment to technical posts from grade 5 to 18 in the transport department. The meeting agreed to introduce electric rickshaws as an alternative to motorcycle rickshaws. The chief minister has sought suggestions and recommendations for the electric rickshaw project. She also gave in-principle approval to organize the first-ever international transport expo in Punjab. She also announced the introduction of a single comprehensive RFID sticker for all matters related to vehicles. Secretary Transport Imran Sikandar Baloch gave a detailed briefing on the Yellow Line Lahore-Gujranwala BRT. It was apprised in the briefing that the supply of electric buses in the districts of Punjab will start from August. The meeting also reviewed the design and colour recommendations of prefabricated bus shelters in Lahore. The work of installing 50 prefabricated bus shelters in Lahore will start soon.
