I'm a make-up artist and my hack will stop your sunglasses from rubbing your foundation off your nose for good

The Sun24-05-2025

WHILE the sun may not be shining today, it won't be long before our sunglasses become a daily essential.
And although they are both stylish and practical they come with that all too familiar beauty frustration: the dreaded marks they leave on your nose.
1
But fear not, Revolution Beauty makeup artist Mel Trierweiler shares her top tips for avoiding sunglasses marks this summer.
Mel comments, 'There is nothing more frustrating than when your sunglasses leave marks on either side of your nose.
'However, the solution to stop this from happening might be sitting in your makeup bag already.'
She recommends applying a bit of loose powder to the bridge of your nose and the inner frame of your sunglasses.
This creates a barrier, absorbs excess oil, and keeps your make-up from transferring.
Mel continues: 'To avoid those frustrating sunglasses marks a cosmetic baking powder is a great choice.
'It's easy to apply, and can be tapped directly onto your sunglasses frame and the bridge of your nose.
'If you're on the move, using a powder puff or beauty blender makes reapplying simple - no need to use your hands.
'It is also important to clean your sunglasses every morning, as leftover oils can break down your makeup and cause marks.'
Mel also recommends applying a setting spray to your beauty blender before dipping into the loose setting powder, as this can add extra grip and a long-lasting hold.
Lidl is selling a £2.99 product beauty fans are racing to nab - you don't have to wear foundation AND it contains SPF50
'It instantly locks your look in place and leaves your complexion with a shine-free finish,' she says.
How To Save Money On Beauty Buys
IF your purse is feeling tighter than ever before and you're looking to save cash on your make-up routine, have you ever thought of trying out beauty dupes?
Here are five of the best recommended beauty buys that are almost identical to the posh versions, but at a fraction of the price.
FACE BASE If you can't afford Charlotte Tilbury 's £52 Magic Cream, why not try a dupe that costs just £5.49 from Superdrug?
TONE IT UP If Drunk Elephant's £62 Protini Cream is out of your price range, you'll need to check out the new dupe in Home Bargains.
TINTING IT With Fenty's game-changer skin tint costing £29, a popular supermarket's affordable alternative might just be the thing for you.
GET COVERED At £29 for a Tarte concealer, the new Primark dupe is much more affordable at just £3.50.

Shoppers race to get their hands on HUGE Haribo tubs scanning for just £1.25 at major supermarket

SHOPPERS are getting their sugar fix as huge tubs of Haribo go on sale for just £1.25. The 600g share boxes were originally £5, treating customers to a huge £3.75 saving. 2 The tubs are on offer at Tesco for Clubcard holders and contain packets of Supermix, Starmix and Tangfastics. One savvy spender shared a snap of her hoard after she took advantage of the bargain and picked up three tubs. "Tesco! Haribo share tubs £1.25!" she wrote on Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group. Other members of the group flocked to the comment section to praise the impressive find. "Stopping at Tesco on your way home?" one wrote, tagging her husband. "I thought I did well at £2.50 a tub last week," another added. "If you see these for that price, I need two please," a third joked. The deal is available in selected stores only, so it's worth checking with your local branch before visiting the shops. But remember, you'll need a Clubcard to bag yourself the offer. The supermarket giant recently announced it was making a huge change to their loyalty scheme - and it was good news for electric drivers. Electric car owners can now earn loyalty points when charging their vehicles at the popular supermarket chain from today. Clubcard members will now earn one point for every £1 spent charging at Pod Point's Vauxhall-branded chargers at Tesco stores. Tesco says the move is part of its latest partnership with tech provider Pod Point. EV drivers could also bag a whopping 2,500 Clubcard points by subscribing to Pod Point's all-inclusive home charging plan. Charging bays are available at over 600 Tesco car parks across the UK. Shama Wilson, Tesco's group membership and loyalty director, said: "You can now park at your local Tesco and top up your electric vehicle while you shop, in the knowledge that you are collecting Clubcard points towards a future Tesco shop or to exchange with one of our reward partners." "We're thrilled to deepen our long-standing partnership with Tesco and provide an incentive for Clubcard members to make the switch to an EV and join over a quarter of a million customers that trust Pod with their changing needs," Pod CEO Melanie Lane added. It comes after the supermarket giant revealed that it had hit 500,000 charges – providing more than 10 million miles of complimentary carbon neutral motoring. Tesco, in partnership with Pod Point, is installing free charging points at 600 supermarkets around the UK as part of their commitment to improving electric car charging infrastructure.

Love Island Kyle's replacement revealed as he's axed after machete arrest

LOVE Island has revealed Kyle Ashman's replacement after the hunk was axed over a machete attack arrest. Kyle, 23, was sent packing from Majorca just days ahead of the series launch after it emerged he'd been quizzed by cops over a violent attack that took place in February. 2 He was released without charge and maintains his innocence. Tonight, the show revealed professional rugby player Conor Phillips, 25, will take his place in the starting line-up. The Irishman said he's looking for "someone who is really sure of themselves, ambitious, a bit of a go-getter and good craic. I like dark eyes and I don't mind a dominant woman." When it comes to turn offs, he says: "Being too needy, or needing to do everything together. I like someone to be independent and do their own thing and then we come together and do our thing." In his official announcement pic, Conor is flanked by beauties Helena Ford and Megan Clarke. Earlier today, Kyle broke his silence on his exit and said: 'I fully co-operated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident. 'I am not a violent person and any suggestion otherwise is a mischaracterisation.' Masked thugs stormed a wake in Stafford and hacked at a dad with a blade in February. Kyle was one of two quizzed but released with no further action. In a video uploaded to Instagram tonight, the aspiring reality star revealed he's still hopeful of having a future on the show. Love Island star sensationally axed from show after revelation he was arrested over machete attack on dad just months ago Speaking from inside a house, he said: "I'm not a bad guy, honestly. I'm a normal guy from a normal place. An opportunity arose to find love and I grabbed it with both hands, and it's been taken away from me. "I've seen the support pages and, who knows, maybe I'll get the chance to go on Casa Amor or as a bombshell, go back in and show you who I really am. Show you I'm not a bad guy. We'll see."

Staggering number of WhatsApps primary school pupil sent in single night revealed, sparking smartphone ban

A YEAR 6 pupil racked up 9,000 WhatsApps in a single night — prompting their primary school to ban smartphones. The extreme messaging on the child's handset stoked online safety fears, leading parents to agree to a ban. 1 The pupil, aged ten or 11, had followed school rules by handing in their phone at the start of the day but forgot to collect it. When their teacher at Blackhorse Primary School in Bristol retrieved it, they saw the thousands of missed messages. Executive headteacher Simon Botten said: 'The teacher picked up the phone, waking it, only to see a notification of 9,000 missed messages from the Year 6 pupil WhatsApp group overnight. 'Nine thousand messages in a 15-hour overnight period.' Staff at the school were so shocked by the level of activity they started a consultation process over whether smartphones should be banned. Supporters pointed to a rise in cyber-bullying, growing phone obsession and predators online. When police were brought in to give a talk on sexual predators and crooks lurking online, shocked parents swung behind the idea — with nearly nine in ten voting in favour of the ban. Children will still be allowed to bring in brick phones for texts and calls only. Mr Botten hopes it will help parents delay buying smartphones and reduce peer pressure in the playground. He added: 'Parents massively overestimate dangers in the real world and massively underestimate dangers in the digital one.'
