Wuhan Open and British Open draws made as Ronnie O'Sullivan enters both
There is precious little time off on the snooker calendar these days, with the new season getting underway in less than two weeks.
Qualifiers for the Wuhan Open are followed by British Open qualifying, with those matches taking place in Leicester this month before the main events later in the year.
While it is a low-key start to the season, they are vital matches for a lot of players on tour as early defeats in the opening two ranking events of the season would represent a bit of a nightmare start to the season.
Not all the big names are in action in qualifying, with eight matches held over for the main stages of the Wuhan Open and 16 matches held over to Cheltenham for the British Open.
Ronnie O'Sullivan will not be playing in qualifying, but he is in the draw for both events, taking on Allan Taylor in Wuhan and Sanderson Lam in Cheltenham.
New world champion Zhao Xintong also has his matches held over, playing Iulian Boiko in Wuhan and a yet-to-be confirmed top-up player in Cheltenham.
The British Open has an open, FA Cup-style draw, so there are some heavyweight matches from the first round, including Mark Williams taking on Si Jiahui and Kyren Wilson facing Chris Wakelin.
Details on how to watch the Wuhan Open and British Open qualifiers are expected to be announced next week.
Following the two sets of qualifiers the Championship League begins on Monday June 30 and runs all the way until a champion is crowned on July 23.
The main stages of the Wuhan Open run from August 24-30 and the following first round games are held over to the tournament venue. More Trending

Thomas Tuchel urges England to play with a smile against Senegal as boss insists his side CAN compete with the best despite grim Andorra display
Thomas Tuchel has asked his England players to play with a smile on their face in Tuesday's friendly against Senegal in Nottingham and lift the gloom caused by the weekend's grim victory against minnow Andorra. Just a year away from the start of the World Cup in America, Tuchel's England are struggling under the weight of familiar problems with some players failing to bring their club form to the international stage. Tuchel insists that England should 'absolutely not' have any kind of inferiority complex after seeing heavyweights Portugal, Spain and France play out thrilling Nations League matches in recent days. But the England head coach also said: 'I see the structure in our game, I see the control, I see the amount of passes. 'But we can do better. We can be more fluid. We can be more exciting which since a longer time I feel has been a bit of a problem. 'I feel we are a bit stuck. I see us train with a smile but not play with a smile.'It's difficult to prescribe freedom, to say 'play with freedom' and suddenly everyone plays with freedom. Crystal Palace' FA Cup hero Eberechi Eze is expected to be handed a start at the City Ground 'I think we need to get the balance right. We need to get the organisation right, and we need to get the players right together — that they just feel it naturally and that it's easy, that it comes easy for them to connect. We haven't done that yet.' England are top of their World Cup qualifying group after three clean sheet wins against Latvia, Albania and now Andorra. But the national team's football has been on a wane for too long with suggestions once again that the England shirt is starting to way heavily once again on too many. 'Yeah, I know what you're saying,' Tuchel added. 'I heard it many times, but what does it mean? 'Like a heavy shirt? Do we expect too much? Don't we feel the freedom? Do we not feel the same freedom to express ourselves that we feel like in the clubs? 'Does Phil [Foden] feel free in his club? Is he really free in his club to express himself? Since many months, he struggles also there. 'So maybe it's also a normal thing that's a bit of up and down. The normal season in football is not there anymore. There's no more preparation time, there's so many competitions, so it's not easy. 'I do feel we need to increase the rhythm and find the right players that can play together.' Tuchel will make a host of changes at the City Ground with players such as Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson and Forest's own Morgan Gibbs-White expected to feature. There is, though, unlikely to be a start for reserve striker Ivan Toney with captain Harry Kane likely to retain his place. Tuchel's squad watched Sunday's Nations League final — won by Portugal on penalties against Spain in Munich — together at their St George's Park base. But the 51-year-old wants his players to keep their belief high. 'Our level would increase immediately once we were in Munich at the stadium and playing against Portugal or Spain,' Tuchel said. 'We would rise to the occasion. This will come. It will bring out the very best in us. 'We shall not develop a complex because there is no need for it. Spain qualified for the final four with a very lucky win over the Netherlands. Everyone is beatable. 'Do we have all the answers at the moment? No. But also it's not necessary to have all the answers now. 'We're figuring it out, we're taking everything into account. I think the best way to do it is to keep going and encourage everybody. We will try some stuff in this game and once we feel that we have it, we will get going.'

Nottingham Forest ‘write to Uefa over Crystal Palace Europa League decision' as they stand to benefit from Eagles ban
Forest took necessary precautions to avoid a similar fiasco TRICKY TREES Nottingham Forest 'write to Uefa over Crystal Palace Europa League decision' as they stand to benefit from Eagles ban Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NOTTINGHAM FOREST have reportedly written to Uefa over concerns about Crystal Palace taking part in the Europa League. Palace's historic FA Cup final win over Manchester City booked their place in Europe for the first time. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Crystal Palace's European dreams could be ruined over an ownership issue Credit: AFP 2 The Eagles lifted the FA Cup at Wembley to secure a Europa League spot Credit: Getty But complications around John Textor's stake in both Palace and French club Lyon have resulted in the South Londoners' spot being in doubt. Uefa rules on multi-club ownership prevent any two clubs controlled by the same person or group from competing in the same competition. Both Palace and Lyon have qualified for next year's Europa League, but the Ligue 1 side would have precedence as they finished higher in their domestic league. And now The Times state Forest made contact with European football's governing body to highlight the potential breach. Should Palace be kicked out of the Europa League, it is understood Nottingham Forest would be promoted from the Conference League and take the Eagles' Europa League place. Forest themselves made the necessary changes to their ownership structure when it became apparent both they and owner Evangelos Marinakis' other team Olympiacos could both qualify for the Champions League. Nottingham Forest write to UEFA to 'express concern' over Crystal Palace
Nottingham Forest have spoken to UEFA to express their concern over Crystal Palace's potential involvement in the Europa League as the FA Cup winners attempt to prove their breached no rules Nottingham Forest have written to UEFA to express concern over Crystal Palace potentially participating in the Europa League given the multi-club ownership rules that are in place. John Textor, the American businessman who has a 43 per cent stake in the Premier League side, also owns Lyon, who have qualified for Europe's secondary competition. The Eagles hierarchy have met with UEFA officials to try explain Textor's situation. Forest however can stand to gain if UEFA do choose to kick Palace out of the Europa League. The Nottingham outfit enjoyed a stellar year, challenging for the Champions League, but eventually having to settle for the Europa Conference League after finishing seventh. However they could be bumped up if Palace fall foul of UEFA's rules and the Times reports that they have been in contact with European football's governing body regarding the matter. Much may yet depend on whether Lyon themselves are allowed to play in the Europa League. UEFA's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) disqualified Lyon from European competitions in December but allowed them to continue after the club met certain demands. However the French side are being 'carefully monitored' by the CFCB and could be disqualified from next season's Europa League for any breaches. It is understood that Palace case could end up at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Forest could also take the matter to the courts if the Eagles are still deemed eligible. UEFA have previously been rigid in their application of their rules which could count against the FA Cup winners. Eagles shareholders Textor and David Blitzer want to put their shares in a blind trust to ensure the club can compete in Europe next season - but UEFA claim their request has come too late. UEFA rules state that such ownership changes must take place before 1 March to take effect in time for the following season. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has transferred his shares given his Greek club Olympiacos have qualified for next season's Champions League. Blitzer is also an owner of Danish club Brondby who qualified for the Conference League. It means there could be issues should Palace want to drop down into that tournament instead. Manchester City and Manchester United both used blind trusts to remain compliant with UEFA's multi-club rules last season. Their partner clubs, Girona and Nice, also qualified for the Champions League and Europa League respectively. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
