Mbappe 'not bitter' about PSG's Champions League triumph
"I didn't leave too soon; my story with PSG was over. I am not bitter; I had reached the end of the road," Mbappe said in a press conference ahead of Sunday's Nations League third place match against Germany in Stuttgart.
PSG crushed Inter Milan 5-0 to win the Champions League in Munich last Saturday, the first time the club has won the competition.
"I tried everything, and it was destiny that meant it had to happen without me," said Mbappe.
"PSG winning the Champions League without me doesn't affect me. I was happy, I think they deserved it.
"They've had so many years where they struggled. I've been there too; I've played in every Champions League stage in Paris except for the victory.
"They're the best team in Europe.
"I don't remember seeing a team win 5-0 in a major final."
Mbappe has repeated his desire to win Europe's biggest club competition, but the closest the Paris-born forward got with his boyhood club was losing the final in 2020 to Bayern Munich.
The 26-year-old moved to Madrid in the summer of 2024 hoping to lift the Champions League, but the Spanish giants crashed out in the quarter-finals of the competition to Arsenal in April.
Real failed to win a trophy in the 2024-25 season, their first campaign without silverware in four years.

Former Grey boy and NFL hopeful Ekeji to make Sharks debut
There will also be plenty of interest in how powerful flanker Bathobele Hlekani goes in Kimberley. Former Grey College star and National Football League (NFL) hopeful Paschal Ekeji will make his Sharks debut in their round four Currie Cup match against Griquas in Kimberley on Friday afternoon (3pm). Another player who'll be in action for the team from Durban and who'll have many watching him is Junior Springboks U20 flank star Bathobele Hlekani. The Sharks are hunting a first win in this year's competition after so far going down to the Lions, Bulls and Cheetahs. Hlekani, who will join the Lions at the end of the season, was one of the big stars of the Junior Boks team that won the recent World Championship in Italy. He will run out at flank after featuring for the same Sharks XV last year, but at lock. Bathobele Hlekani will turn out for the Sharks this weekend. Picture: Steve Haag Sports/Gallo Images Winger Ekeji (1.93m and 94kg) was set to be a big star for the Grey College team in 2020 but Covid ended those dreams before he opted to study agriculture at Stellenbosch University. He played Varsity Cup rugby and also ran out for Western Province. In June 2022 the Lesotho-born Ekeji, of Nigerian descent, attended an NFL Africa camp in Ghana with the hope of playing American gridiron, having been selected to be a part of the International Player Pathways scheme. He however failed to secure a contract and is now back in South Africa and set to turn out for the Sharks. Picture:Another recent Junior Boks star, scrumhalf Ceano Everson has also been picked by coach JP Pietersen to start against Griquas. Flyhalf Vusi Moyo and fullback Jaco Williams, also members of the Junior Boks team, have retained their places in the Sharks team for the trip to the Northern Cape. In other Currie Cup matches this weekend, on Saturday the Pumas host the Lions (2pm) and the Cheetahs welcome Western Province (2pm) and on Sunday, Boland entertain the Bulls (3pm).

Kaizer Chiefs starting 11 with Asanele Velebayi
Kaizer Chiefs will soon introduce Asanele Velebayi on the field rather than the media. How does the former Cape Town Spurs superstar fit in? To avoid complications, we've taken the same lineup that opened the Betway Premiership with a 2-0 win over Stellenbosch FC. The only change is Velebayi coming in on the right wing for Wandile Duba who is primarily a striker. The 22-year-old winger, who can play on either wing or the attacking midfield role, is likely to compete for minutes on the right and left wings. Good news on four Kaizer Chiefs players 'Asanele Velebayi has officially joined Kaizer Chiefs,' the Soweto giants confirmed. 'The Cape Town-born winger has signed a long-term contract, fulfilling his lifelong dream of wearing the Gold & Black colours of Amakhosi. Can Spurs shock PSG in Uefa Super Cup?
Tottenham's longer odds may be worth a punt. Tottenham Hotspur's difficult last season ended on a positive, as they beat Manchester United to lift the Uefa Europa League and qualify for the new campaign's Uefa Champions League. Another reward for Spurs is that they get to take on last season's Champions League winner Paris St Germain on Wednesday evening in the Uefa Super Cup. Spurs have had a difficult off-season, losing creative star James Maddison to a long-term injury and seeing club legend Son Heung-Min depart for Los Angeles FC in the USA. Winger Mohammed Kudus has been brought in from West Ham, while Joao Palhinha looks an astute signing in defensive midfield. But the general feeling is that Thomas Frank's side are still a little short heading into a busy season. PSG had a fantastic 2024/25 campaign under Luis Enrique, winning the Champions League for the first time, absolutely thumping Inter Milan 5-0 in the final. The French champions crashed slightly back down to earth when they lost 3-0 to Chelsea in the Fifa Club World Cup final. But they will still head into Wednesday's game at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udinese, Italy as clear favourites. The main talking point of PSG's very short pre-season has been a fallout with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who looks set to leave, and who has been left out of PSG's squad for the clash with Tottenham. PSG have signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille, and he looks set to be their number one 'keeper for the season. Spurs coach Frank has had his own problems, leaving Yves Bissouma out of his squad after the midfielder was repeatedly late for training. Betway's odds for the game reflect PSG's favourites tag, with the French side at 1.43 to Tottenham's 6.40 and a draw at 5.20. Anything can happen in a one-off match, however, as Crystal Palace showed last weekend when they took down Liverpool to lift the FA Community Shield. Chelsea exposed a frailty in PSG at left back when they took them down in the Club World Cup final. And Tottenham's Frank may well copy from Enzo Maresca's playbook. With far better bang for your buck, Spurs may just be worth a punt.
