Glastonbury headliners The 1975 issue warning to fans ahead of tonight's set

Daily Mirror27-06-2025
EXCLUSIVE: A source close to the band told the Mirror that the Somebody Else hitmakers are planning to step out with a few surprises up their sleeve during their performance
Fans of The 1975 should prepare for some special surprises when they headline Glastonbury for the first time this evening.
The band, who are playing on the Pyramid Stage from 10.15pm, have been relatively quiet over recent months but will return to the spotlight in style tonight.

Matty Healy and his band mates have 'pulled out all the stops' to ensure their set this evening is one to remember.

'Everyone was so blown away that Matty, Ross, George and Adam were headlining, but it's no surprise given how loved they are universally,' a source close to the band tells us.
'They've played Glastonbury before, but this is the boys at their very best and then some. They're one of the biggest bands in the world, and their tours sell out almost instantly, but to see them on the Pyramid Stage in the headline slot, nobody could have expected this. Everyone behind the scenes has worked so hard to pull out all the stops - fans should expect a few surprises.'
'Matty once said that people should be 'on guard for a year' because he would lose his mind about it and it's certainly been one of their major highlights of their career and it's only going to get even bigger for the four lads."
Healy hit headlines across the world in 2023 when he enjoyed a brief romantic relationship with a newly-single Taylor Swift. Their union fizzled out within weeks but was enough to inspire the Shake It Off singer to mention Healy in a number of tracks on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.

On a podcast in October, Healy seemingly revealed he would not be producing a musical reply to Swift's swipes - saying that he is 'not interested in' writing about the 'casual romantic liaisons' he has 'become known for'.
'If I made a record about, I don't know, all the stuff that was said about me, or my casual romantic liaisons, or my, whatever it may be, that I've kind of become known for, just because I was famous,' he mused.
'I think that's an obvious thing to draw from. I'm just not interested in it. And I think that the maintenance of the status quo is something that I always fight against."

'So the idea of making a record about something that personally happened to me, that by the time I put it out is going to be like, two years old. I see people doing that as well, and it's just not interesting.'
Healy, who is now engaged to model Gabbriette, is better known to many as The 1975 frontman who have produced era-defining music for a legion of loyal fans.

The group is made up of singer Healy, bassist Ross MacDonald, guitarist Adam Hann, and drummer George Daniel, who is pop star Charli XCX's fiancé. The four school friends formed the band in 2002 and shot to fame with the release of their chart-topping self-titled album The 1975.
They saw similar success with the release of A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships and Being Funny In A Foreign Language. This is their first time headline Glastonbury. Healy's mother, Loose Woman panellist, Denise Welch, celebrated the news by posting the Glastonbury line-up on Instagram, saying: 'I guess I'll be going to my first UK festival!!!'
Welch also added a post on her Instagram story saying: 'Look who's headlining on the Friday!!! Popping out to buy some wellies.'
The 1975 has won four Brit awards, claiming the British Group award twice, along with British Album of the Year in 2019 and Best Rock/Alternative in 2023.

BBC forced to cancel Ozzy Osbourne documentary for heartbreaking reason

Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home was pulled from the schedule at the last minute. The BBC abruptly pulled Ozzy Osbourne's poignant documentary from its schedule last night, leaving fans devastated. The film, titled 'Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home', was set to air on BBC One at 9pm on Monday, August 18. ‌ The touching doc comes shortly after the tragic death of the beloved Black Sabbath frontman last month. However, it was mysteriously cancelled at the eleventh hour without any explanation. ‌ Billed as a 'moving and inspirational account of the last chapter' of Ozzy's life, the documentary promised 'unique and intimate access to the whole Osbourne family', including his wife Sharon, and their children Kelly and Jack. ‌ However, it has now come to light that the BBC had no option but to halt the broadcast after concerns were raised by Ozzy's family about the speed with which the show was produced. This was amid the BBC's scramble against Paramount+ to air the star's final months, according to the Mirror. This revelation comes as Ozzy's son, Jack, shared a heart-wrenching glimpse into the changes in The Osbourne household just weeks before Ozzy passed away at the age of 76. A source told The Sun that there were discussions behind the scenes suggesting that the BBC may have 'rushed' some of the scenes in the new documentary. They said: "There have been conversations behind the scenes that maybe the BBC were rushing their show on Ozzy out - especially because Paramount+ also had a film in the pipeline." ‌ It was also revealed that the original plan for the BBC's production was to create a 10-part series called 'Home To Roost', documenting Ozzy and wife Sharon's move back to the UK. However, following his death, it was later decided to make it a standalone film. An insider shared: "What mattered the most to the family was the overall tone and theme of the programme, which features Ozzy and Sharon in one of their last interviews together. ‌ '"It started to feel like the goal being pursued was that the BBC and the makers of the film were to get the show on air faster than the Paramount+ doc. Naturally that has caused some concerns with the family." Ozzy passed away at 76 on July 22 from a reported heart attack, just weeks after reuniting with the band on stage for The Back To The Beginning farewell concert in Birmingham. ‌ The much-loved Brummie had been filming his return back to the UK after dreaming of making his comeback for years. His homecoming was set to be documented in the BBC TV film, however, fans were left disappointed when it was abruptly removed from listings at the last minute. When approached by the Mirror, the BBC stated that the "film has moved in the schedules" and new premiere details will be announced "in due course". Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
