College-Bound Bill Belichick Throws Shade at NFL Players
Yet, this is still a new territory for the future Hall of Famer, as he's never coached in the college ranks before. Already proven in the NFL, what makes him think he can have just as much success in college?
While he's yet to coach a single game at the college level, Belichick is already a big fan of one aspect of his new job. Specifically, he likes how coachable college football athletes are, in comparison to NFL players.

On some levels, it makes a lot of sense for college athletes to be far more receptive to the coaching they're receiving. After all, if they want to make it to the pros, they'll need to sharpen their skill set as much as possible.
Yet, in that same sense, it's a bit odd that some NFL players aren't more receptive to receiving coaching, especially from what should be the best coaches in the game. Even more so, it's even odder that some wouldn't want to gain as much knowledge as possible from Belichick, who some dub as the greatest coach of all time.
Either way, let's hope all the athletes who have a chance to learn from Belichick at UNC take his advice this time around. Who knows? They might even end up with a championship ring or two on their hands.

Travis Hunter to play both ways during Jaguars' preseason opener against Steelers
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen told reporters Thursday that his starters will see the field Saturday in the team's preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. That, of course, includes No. 2 overall pick and two-way star Travis Hunter, who Coen said will in fact play both ways versus the Steelers. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh is taking a different approach. Longtime Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced an extensive list of starters who will be healthy scratches for the exhibition. That group includes quarterback Aaron Rodgers; wide receiver DK Metcalf; tight ends Jonnu Smith and Pat Freiermuth; running back Jaylen Warren; cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey, Joey Porter Jr. and Darius Slay; defensive end Cameron Heyward and linebacker T.J. Watt, among others. "It has nothing to do with injury," Tomlin said. "They need less runway to take off, to be quite honest with you. Because of their experience and where they are in their careers, oftentimes I preserve them through this process while providing more opportunity for those that need more preparation or more opportunity to display their talents and so forth." While fans will have to wait to see what Rodgers looks like in the Pittsburgh offense, it looks like they'll get a glimpse of Hunter on both sides of the ball in Jacksonsville. Hunter, last year's Heisman Trophy winner, is listed as a starting wideout and backup cornerback on the Jaguars' first first unofficial depth chart, which the team released Monday. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound phenom is coming off a prolific final season at Colorado, where he played 753 snaps on offense, 776 on defense and 23 more on special teams in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus. In the process, he caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns, plus he ran for one additional score. At cornerback, he picked off four passes and notably forced a fumble that clinched an overtime victory against Baylor. During training camp, Jacksonville eased Hunter into practicing both positions, allowing him time to fully focus on each playbook before playing two ways in the same day. Coen went on the "The Rich Eisen Show" on Monday and suggested 80% of the Jags' offensive snaps as a potential game-by-game target for Hunter this season, with the hope of him trying to match that snap count percentage on defense as well. "We've done more offense because that was where more of the development was necessary," Coen said Monday of Hunter's work in camp, via "The Rich Eisen Show." "It's so much more natural [for him] to just go walk out on the field and play corner. That's what he's done. He can go do that. Now, there's a lot of checks, there's a lot of calls, there's a lot of different things that go to that. But offensively, we felt like there was a little bit more development that was necessary, and it's a lot more ball — just a lot more scheme and words and calls. "Every single day is completely packed, from the moment that he arrives to the moment he leaves, with making sure that he is meeting with somebody at all times." Eisen proposed that Hunter could even win both NFL Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year awards this season, and Coen agreed that "it's possible." That journey officially begins in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. But Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers will provide a sneak peek at how Hunter's two-way skill set translates to the NFL.

With kickoff fast approaching, we're looking at ten players on the roster bubble to keep an eye on Eagles preseason opener After weeks of waiting and competing against each other, the Philadelphia Eagles will take the field at Lincoln Financial Field in an intriguing preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night. It's unknown if Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and key Eagles starters will play with two days of joint practices with the Browns approaching. RB ShunDerrick Powell Explosive players are essential in this version of the NFL, and Powell will look to prove that he can run between the tackles and contribute in the passing game. WR Ainias Smith Smith spent the off-season training and learning from Philadelphia's All-Pro wide receiver, A.J. Brown, with the two players running the steps at Lincoln Financial Field. Drafted in the fifth round last year, Smith caught four passes for 35 yards and a touchdown when the team rested its primary starters in Week 18. Still, he was a non-factor on offense during his previous six appearances in the regular season and spent most of the season on the PUP list and injured reserve. He'll enter 2025 looking to prove he can contribute to the passing game and special teams. WR Elijah Cooks Cooks signed with the Eagles' practice squad on Jan. 14 after spending most of the 2024 season on the Jaguars' practice squad. The 26-year-old wideout has been a training camp standout and will look to secure the No. 4 wideout role. WR Darius Cooper A player to watch, the St. Louis, Missouri native joins the Eagles from Tarleton State, where he earned first-team Associated Press FCS All-America honors in his senior season. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound receiver is athletic and finished second in Division I in receiving yards with 1,450 (the second most in single-season school history) and sixth in touchdowns with 14 (the third most in single-season school history) in 2024. In 48 career games, Cooper accumulated 164 catches for 3,185 yards and 29 touchdowns, averaging 19.4 yards per catch. OL Cameron Williams The 6-foot-5, 335-pound Williams, a true junior, projects as an NFL tackle. He started 16 games for the Longhorns and played in 37 games, serving as an anchor of an offensive line that was a Joe Moore Award finalist in 2024. OL Myles Hinton The former Michigan offensive tackle is powerful, and during the first eight practices of training camp, Hinton has been showing plenty of promise and has even started to get some second-team reps at left tackle. DT Gabe Hall A rugged and versatile player at Baylor, a rookie free agent out of Baylor last season (6-6, 295 pounds), was on the practice squad for the entire season. He'll need a decisive training camp, but he can rush the passer and bring athleticism to the defensive tackle position. Edge Rusher Ochaun Mathis Mathis was a sixth-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 2023 out of Nebraska. Mathis is 25 years old. He's 6-foot-5, 250 pounds and will look to put his versatility on display. OL Hollin Pierce The 6-8, 341-pound Trenton, New Jersey native was Rutgers' first offensive lineman to earn All-America status since Anthony Davis in 2009. He also earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2024 after starting 13 games at left tackle. DB Maxen Hook A former teammate of star cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, Hook was a first-team All-MAC selection in 2024, his third straight season earning the honor. He was the third Toledo Rocket to make an All-MAC team in four seasons. Hook could be this year's Reed Blankenship after accepting an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl and finishing 24th in the nation with 8.92 tackles per game. LB Lance Dixon A former five-star recruit and No. 13 prospect coming out of high school, Dixon had 46 tackles and two forced fumbles in 2024 for Toledo after transferring from West Virginia, where he spent three seasons. The former safety turned linebacker is 6-2, 233 pounds, and will need a breakout performance.
