AdvanceCare Slashes Claims Processing Times to 60 Seconds Using Sprout.ai's AI Technology

Yahoo22-07-2025
LONDON, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- AdvanceCare has cut health insurance claims processing time to just 60 seconds for some claims settlement cases, thanks to a strategic rollout of Sprout.ai's artificial intelligence technology. As health insurance claims management continues to grow in complexity, AdvanceCare is using AI to streamline and automate its processes and free up team resources to focus on the most complex cases.
The milestone comes after the health insurer TPA (Third-Party Administrator) processed over a million claims in the past year using Sprout.ai's patented AI platform. AdvanceCare was already operating its claims process with automation, but the integration of Sprout.ai's technology has strengthened its capabilities further, contributing to over a 10% increase in automation levels. These advancements span AdvanceCare's different types of claims including hospital, dental, and pharmacy. With 1.7 million members in Portugal the improvements are already delivering faster, more accurate claim outcomes for a significant portion of the population.
This also comes at a time when healthcare leaders are reporting that the time it takes for claims reimbursement is increasing, with 62% recognising this as a growing challenge, up from 51% in 2022. Sprout.ai's platform allows insurers to make faster, more accurate claims decisions by reducing manual data entry and ensuring claims handlers have all the relevant insights at their fingertips. AdvanceCare benefits from utilising Sprout.ai's platform, which combines advanced artificial intelligence with patented optical character recognition (OCR) technology to instantly extract, structure, and analyse information from claims invoices.
Roi Amir, CEO of Sprout.ai, said: "When it comes to health insurance, speed and accuracy are paramount. This collaboration proves that AI doesn't just improve efficiency — it enhances the customer experience at scale. AdvanceCare has shown what's possible when innovation is embraced across an entire claims ecosystem."
The increased accuracy has led to cost and productivity gains, supporting AdvanceCare's mission to strengthen healthcare inclusion and digital transformation in the insurance sector.
Liliana Silva, Operations Director at AdvanceCare, added: "Our customers highly value the digital reimbursement solution that we provide through our app and web portal. Focusing on efficiency also means focusing on time resolution and the quality of service we provide to our customers. This is why we see AI as a useful tool and look for solutions that contribute to this, such as Sprout.ai."
Since partnering in 2022, Sprout.ai's growing footprint within AdvanceCare highlights the accelerating demand in the European insurtech market for solutions that combine intelligent automation with enhanced service quality — empowering experienced claims handlers to dedicate more time to complex cases and those requiring a human touch.

OpenAI unveils Chat GPT-5 model with 'Ph.D level intelligence'

OpenAI has unveiled its latest and most advanced update for its ChatGPT chatbot yet. The new model, known as GPT-5, is more useful and intuitive than its prior versions, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said during a livestream on Thursday, Aug. 7. Altman compared the intelligence of its previous GPT-3 model to a promising high school student, its GPT-4 model to a smarter college student and GPT-5 to a "legitimate Ph.D level expert in any area." "GPT-5 can write an entire computer program from scratch," he said. "This is an incredible super power on demand that would've been unimaginable in any previous time in history." The update comes as the AI service gains popularity with over 700 million people using it per week, Altman added. The company said the new model still has limitations relating to persistent memory, autonomy and adaptability across tasks, NBC News reported. USA TODAY has reached out to OpenAI for comment. GPT-5 release date GPT-5 was released to the public on Thursday, Aug. 7, with a livestream on its social media channels and website. GPT-5 pricing Anyone can access ChatGPT for free; however, usage limits are determined by if a visitor is a subscriber. Plus subscribers get unlimited access while Pro subscribers receive access to GPT‑5 Pro, a version with extended reasoning for even more comprehensive and accurate answers, the company said. The Plus subscription is $20 a month, while Pro costs $200. For a breakdown of what each subscription offers, click here. How to use Chat GPT-5 To use ChatGPT, including the GPT-5 upgrade, users can ask the chatbot questions to answer or prompt it to carry out tasks. Altman pointed to tasks such as creating party invitations, ordering supplies and explaining health care in the live stream. ChatGPT users will now have the option to select a custom color for their chats and choose from a variety of pre-set personalities, like Cynic, Robot, Listener, and Nerd. Pro users will be able to connect their Gmail, Google Contacts, and Google Calendar to ChatGPT, with other tiers gaining access at a later, unspecified date, according to Wired. 'Grey's Anatomy' star diagnosed with Hashimoto's: What to know about the disease

"Grey's Anatomy" star Camilla Luddington recently revealed she has been diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, an autoimmune disorder. The British actress, known for her role as Dr. Jo Wilson, shared the news on the "Call It What It Is" podcast in an episode aired on Wednesday, which she co-hosts with fellow "Grey's Anatomy" star Jessica Capshaw. 'Grey's Anatomy' star opens up about battle with postpartum anxiety, severe PMS disorder Luddington explained that, for some time, she had felt unusually tired and sluggish, often joking about being "slothy." However, she didn't consider that there might be a medical reason behind it. After finally completing routine blood work, Luddington received the surprising diagnosis. "My doctor was like, everything looks great except this one little thing," she recalled. The news hit her hard. "I remember hearing the words 'autoimmune disease' and thinking, 'What the f---?'" Luddington said, though she later learned that hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto's disease is quite common. Capshaw asked how Luddington processed the news, and Luddington admitted that she had suspected something was wrong with her health. "You know what? I knew something was up," Luddington shared. "Because even when I was having my blood drawn, the doctor said to me, 'Is there any, you know, particular thing you're concerned about?' And I said, 'Look, I'm really f---ing tired all the time.'" Initially, Luddington thought her symptoms might be due to perimenopause, a phase before menopause. But after learning about her autoimmune diagnosis, she said, "When they said it's really common, I was like, 'well, that sucks, but okay.'" Luddington has been part of the "Grey's Anatomy" cast since 2012. In addition to her role on the ABC drama, she has starred as Kate in "William & Kate: The Movie" and appeared on shows like "Californication" and "True Blood." What to know about Hashimoto's disease Hashimoto's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can cause hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) or, in rare cases, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The thyroid, a small, butterfly-shaped gland in the neck, becomes damaged in people with Hashimoto's, NIDDK states on its website. The immune system produces antibodies that attack the thyroid, leading to the accumulation of white blood cells which destroy thyroid's cells that produce hormones. 'Grey's Anatomy' renewed for 22nd season at ABC This condition is also known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis, chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, or autoimmune thyroiditis, according to NIDDK. While the exact number of people affected in the U.S. is unknown, Hashimoto's is the leading cause of hypothyroidism, which impacts about 5% of Americans. NIDDK notes that early on, Hashimoto's may not show symptoms, but as it progresses, it can cause fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, joint pain, constipation, dry skin, irregular periods and a slowed heart rate. It often leads to hypothyroidism, but in its early stages, it can cause symptoms of hyperthyroidism. The thyroid may also enlarge, creating a swollen neck or goiter, which can shrink over time. According to NIDDK, the exact cause of Hashimoto's is unknown, but it is often linked to a family history of thyroid disease. Several factors, including genes, viruses like hepatitis C, certain medications, and exposure to toxins such as nuclear radiation, can contribute to its development. Solve the daily Crossword
