SRH hammer KKR as Klaasen stars with record ton
Klaasen lit up the evening with an unbeaten 105 off just 39 balls, propelling SRH to a mammoth 278 for 3 – one of the highest team totals in IPL history. The South African wicketkeeper-batsman's carnage, laced with 9 fours and 7 sixes, left the KKR bowlers in complete disarray and ensured Hyderabad made full use of their decision to bat first.
In reply, KKR never looked in the hunt. Unadkat ripped through the top order with figures of 3 for 24, dismissing Sunil Narine and skipper Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession. Harsh Dubey then ran through the middle order, claiming 3 for 34, including the crucial wickets of Rinku Singh, Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh, as Kolkata folded for 168 in 18.4 overs.
Young pacer Eshan Malinga also made his mark with 3 for 31, as the SRH bowlers maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings. Manish Pandey (37 off 23) and Narine (31 off 16) offered brief resistance, but their efforts were in vain against Hyderabad's clinical bowling unit.
Earlier, Abhishek Sharma (32 off 16) gave SRH a flying start in the powerplay before Travis Head took charge with a belligerent 76 off 40 balls, including 6 sixes and as many boundaries. Klaasen then took over, launching an all-out assault in the death overs, while Ishan Kishan added a handy 29 and Aniket Verma chipped in with 12*.
The KKR bowlers endured a forgettable outing, leaking 24 extras – 14 of them wides – further compounding their misery. Sunil Narine (2 for 42) was the lone bright spot in an otherwise demoralising evening for the visitors.
With this emphatic victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad have reaffirmed their playoff credentials, while Kolkata Knight Riders' campaign continues to spiral downwards.

Team India's Asia Cup Squad: Ins, Outs From The Last T20I Series
There were several surprise selections in India's Asia Cup 2025 squad, which was announced on Tuesday in Mumbai. The squad was announced during a press conference attended by T20I skipper Suryakumar and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, which was held after a meeting between BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and the selection committee. India Test captain Shubman Gill, who last played a T20Is in July last year, was included in the squad. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah was also included, despite the recent talks over his workload issues. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Gill scored 650 runs in 15 innings at an average of 50.00, with a strike rate of 155.87, with six fifties and a best score of 93*, ending as the fourth-highest run-getter in the tournament. Gill replaced Axar Patel, who served as Suryakumar's deputy in the format during his absence. It is worth noting that Gill was the vice-captain during his last appearance in the format. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal 's snub was the other major highlight from the 15-member squad. Jaiswal was the back-up opener ahead of Gill for the T20 World Cup last year. He was the backup as India wanted to open with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Having made 723 runs in 23 T20Is with a century and five fifties at a strike rate of over 164 throughout his career, Jaiswal's 559-run IPL 2025 season (in 14 matches with six fifties at SR of almost 160), brought back the leftie into T20I conversations. Iyer ended up as the sixth-highest run-getter in IPL 2025 and had his best season, scoring 604 runs in 17 matches and innings at an average of 50.33, strike rate of 175.07 and six fifties. His best score was 97*. He played a massive role in taking PBKS to their first IPL final since 2014, but the team fell short by six runs to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). There were several exclusions in the team from India's last T20I squad, a five-match series in February 2025.

R Ashwin questions Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswals omission from Asia Cup squad
New Delhi [India], August 19 (ANI): Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Tuesday raised his concern about the omission of Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal from India's Asia Cup squad. The squad was announced during a press conference attended by T20I skipper Suryakumar and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, which was held after a selection meeting which also featured the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia on Tuesday. 'Selection is a thankless job. You have to let someone out. When you talk to them, you have to go through that sadness and disappointment in their faces. I hope someone has talked to Shreyas and Jaiswal," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. Iyer ended up as the sixth-highest run-getter in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and had his best season, scoring 604 runs in 17 matches and innings at an average of 50.33, strike rate of 175.07 and six fifties. His best score was 97*. Despite a great IPL season, he missed out on finding a spot in the squad. 'Look at the credentials of Shreyas Iyer. He went out of the team. But came in the Champions Trophy and did amazing batting. He won and gave it to you. If the answer is that Shubman Gill is in blasting form, Shreyas Iyer is also in high-quality form," he added. Iyer took the Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL trophy in 2024, after which he was released by the franchise and was picked by the Punjab Kings. He took Punjab to IPL final after 11 years. 'He then took Punjab to the finals for the first time since 2014. He overcame the short ball problem. He was hitting the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Jasprit Bumrah with ease in the IPL. I am just extremely sad for him and Yashasvi Jaiswal," Ashwin said. Jaiswal was the back-up opener ahead of Gill for the T20 World Cup last year. He was the backup as India wanted to open with Rohit Sharma and Virat made 723 runs in 23 T20Is with a century and five fifties at a strike rate of over 164 throughout his career, Jaiswal's 559-run IPL 2025 season (in 14 matches with six fifties at SR of almost 160) brought back the leftie into T20I conversations. Jaiswal has been named in the reserve players for the Asia Cup.'Jaiswal's innings on a tricky pitch in the last game at the Oval, he is also in cracking form. So, how can you give an answer to this? Shreyas has done wrong, but he did brilliantly well for KKR, making them win. He was sent into the auction," he added. India will kick off their campaign against the UAE on September 10, while the high-voltage game against Pakistan is scheduled for September 14, with both fixtures set to be played in Dubai. India will play their final group stage fixture against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. (ANI)
