Jaipur: Two universities from the state,
University of Rajasthan
and Poornima University, will host the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) this year in Nov. Union sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya made this announcement in the national capital on Wednesday.
This will be the fifth iteration of the KIG, which began in Feb 2020.
"These games are for under-25 athletes and will be coming after the under-18 Khelo India Youth Games that took place in Bihar in May this year. They offer a great opportunity for athletes who seek a national platform to impress our numerous scouts eyeing the best talents in the country," said Mandaviya.
In the multi-sport games, over 4,000 athletes are expected to join from over 200 universities.
Like previous editions, there will be at least 20 disciplines on the KIUG 2025 programme. "In Rajasthan, we hope to see some quality performances as we expect the athletes will be at their peak," he added.
State cabinet minister for sports, Rajyavardhan Rathore, shared the news on X and called it a proud moment for Rajasthan. "This isn't just a tournament—it's a celebration of youth, unity, and India's sporting spirit.

'Didn't brush his teeth for days': Ex-England cricketer reveals hilarious tactic used by wicketkeeper to annoy batters
Phil Tufnell and Jack Russell of England (Images via Getty Images) Former England cricketer Phil Tufnell has revealed a rather unusual tactic once used by his wicketkeeper Jack Russell to unsettle opposition batters. In a light-hearted discussion, Tufnell said Russell would deliberately avoid brushing his teeth for a couple of days before a match. 'My wicketkeeper, Jack Russell, didn't use to brush his teeth for a couple of days. He said he wanted to put the batters off when he was standing up to the crease. Lots of little shenanigans go on there,' Tufnell revealed on BBC, leaving listeners amused at the extent wicketkeepers sometimes go to in order to gain an edge. AP/PTI The India-Pakistan rivalry has never lacked drama, and Irfan Pathan has now added fresh fuel to the fire with a sensational recollection of his battles with former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi . Speaking candidly, Pathan revisited the fiery exchanges that often spilled beyond cricket, recalling Afridi's controversial jibes, including his bizarre claim of having eaten dog meat. The former India allrounder, who dismissed Afridi 11 times in international cricket, revealed how those remarks stoked his determination every time he faced the flamboyant Pakistani. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! During the 2006 tour, while travelling by flight from Karachi to Lahore with both teams on board, Shahid Afridi and Irfan Pathan were involved in a heated exchange. "Abdul Razzaq was sitting with me then. I asked him what kind of meat is available here. He told me about the different kinds of meat. Then I asked if dog meat was available. Afridi was sitting right there. Razzaq was shocked to hear this and said, 'Hey Irfan, why are you saying this?'" Pathan said on Lallantop. Poll Do you believe that verbal exchanges in sports can impact performance? "From this incident, he understood that he could not win against me verbally. That's why he never said anything to me again," he added. Pathan, who had immense success against Pakistan in his career — taking 67 wickets and scoring 807 runs, including a century — revealed what led to the verbal altercation. "Afridi came and placed his hand on my head, messing up my hair. He asked me, 'How are you, kid?' I said, 'Since when have you become my father?' The childish behaviour was actually his. He was not my friend. After that, Afridi said some abusive words to me. His seat was right next to mine," he recollected. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
