Driver in his 70s dies after car crashes on to railway track
Officers found a silver VW Golf on the tracks with one person inside.
The driver, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the vehicle was travelling in York Place before it left the road and went down the railway embankment.
Officers are 'appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage taken in the area, to come forward as a matter of urgency'.

Superintendent Andy Nunns said: 'We will continue to work with Network Rail and the British Transport Police to minimise disruption.

River Greta search for person in the water in Ingleton stood down
A search of a North Yorkshire river triggered by a report of a body being spotted in fast-flowing water has been stood down. Emergency services searched the River Greta in Ingleton, in the Yorkshire Dales, after North Yorkshire Police was contacted at about 14:00 BST on Monday. Whitby sex offender John Dowson sentenced at York Crown Court

Most rail robbery suspects are children, poilice data shows
Nearly two-thirds of suspects linked to robberies on Britain's rail networks are children, figures from the British Transport Police (BTP) data, published on Wednesday, shows that of the 1,680 reported robberies in the year to March, 848 were linked to named suspects, of whom 61% were aged under also reveals that a small number of offenders were linked to many crimes, with the most common age of robbery victims and suspects being BBC joined officers on overnight raids to detain four suspects aged 16-17 believed to be responsible for a combined 39 robberies.
