'It's like Die Hard but with more comedy': Immersive FPS Skin Deep has talking cats, banana traps, and enemies you can disable by making them sneeze
Space piracy is a real problem in the future, but luckily there's a new and exciting loss prevention system to meet the needs of cautious space travelers. That's where you come in. In Skin Deep, you're Nina Pasadena, a former assassin turned insurance commando, part of the deluxe insurance package for corporate starships. You're frozen and stuck in a drawer on the ship, to be defrosted and put into action if pirates show up and try to kidnap the crew.
Skin Deep is an immersive FPS from Blendo Games, maker of Quadrilateral Cowboy and Gravity Bone. Basically, it's like Deus Ex or Dishonored, but you can set banana peel traps for enemies to slip on and throw pepper in people's faces to make them sneeze so much they can't fight back. Also, you work for a company run by talking cats. (It's the future.)
"It's very light and very goofy," said Brendan Chung, creative director of Blendo Games, in the Annapurna Interactive Showcase today. "But it treats this light and goofy stuff very sincerely and very earnestly."
"It's like Die Hard but with more comedy," said Blendo Games programmer Sanjay Madhav.
Unfortunately, the cryotech process that turns you into an insurance popsicle doesn't allow you to freeze your weapons, so you'll have to make do with whatever you find on the ship or can take from the pirates. A banana found in a locker can become a slippery trap. Ragweed thrown at someone will stun them with sneezes (though if you step into the "pepper cloud" it'll also cause you to sneeze, which can alert guards). There are traditional weapons like pistols and rifles to grab, but isn't it more fun to turn on a gas vent, lure a dimwitted pirate over to it, flick on a lighter, and roast him like a Christmas goose?
There's a lot of neat systems you can glimpse in the trailer, like eliminating a pirate, taking his walkie-talkie, and then mimicking his voice when the pirate boss asks him to check in. You can also fake your own death by making it appear you've been purged from the ventilation system into space, so the pirates will stop looking for you. The pirates are pretty crafty themselves, though: the trailer shows one being killed, at which point his head is automatically encased in a cryo-dome so it can be placed onto a regenerated body, essentially making him immortal.
The solution to that? Flush his head down the toilet. Standard insurance procedure.
Skip Deep uses the Doom 3 engine, which is 20 years old and gives the game a "timeless look" according to Chung. Announced way back in 2018, it's finally almost here: Skin Deep launches on April 30. There's a demo on Steam available now.

For context, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are set to star in the gothic horror film The Dreadful. At the moment, it's not on the 2025 movie schedule, but in a Vogue video, the actress expressed her excitement about the upcoming film and reuniting with her GOT brother, saying: I did a movie last year which I'm really excited about with my old but very good friend Kit Harington, who played my brother on Game of Thrones. We're doing a gothic horror, but we play lovers. Sorry guys, it's really weird for all of us. To state the obvious, Harington and Turner are not actually related, so if you take Game of Thrones out of it, this is not weird at all. However, they did play Jon Snow and Sansa Stark in the extraordinary fantasy adaptation for eight seasons. So, for many of us who have and still do watch Game of Thrones with an HBO Max subscription, it's hard to see these two as anything other than siblings. The HBO series got the world talking, and to this day, most of its main cast is best known for their roles in it. When I think of Harington and Turner, the Stark family and their characters are the first things that come to mind. Picturing them as anything but siblings is, as Turner said, 'really weird.' This is especially true because the series ran from 2011 to 2019, and we literally watched both actors grow up on screen, as Turner was 15 when she began playing Sansa and Harington was 24 when Season 1 premiered. However, Deadline reported that the film, which was written and directed by Natasha Kermani, follows a woman (Turner) who has been living in solitude with her mother-in-law during the War of the Roses when a man (Harington) from her past returns. Sign me up! And I'll do my best to pretend like I don't know that the film's stars played siblings for years on Game of Thrones. Maybe I'll even try to pretend like I've never seen GOT (which Turner hasn't), and that might help me forget the on-screen familial ties. No matter what, I know I'll move past it, though, because, seemingly like Turner, my excitement to see the actors reunite trumps the feelings I have about these former on-screen siblings playing on-screen lovers.

'Oh, Shoot, That's My Brother': Sophie Turner Didn't Hold Back While Explaining Just How Uncomfortable She And Kit Harington Were Playing Lovers

However, I can't quite get over the fact that the Game of Thrones cast members are going to be playing lovers. It turns out, they hilariously couldn't either, as the Sansa Stark actress recalled just how uncomfortable she and the Jon Snow actor were filming their intimate scenes together. Sophie Turner spent the better part of her time on Late Night with Seth Meyers discussing various uncomfortable filming situations she's been in. While promoting her project on the 2025 movie schedule, Trust, she talked about working with rats and cockroaches. However, she also got real about the weirdness of making out with your former on-screen brother. Here's how her story about how this ended up happening in the first place began: I just got the script for an amazing gothic horror called The Dreadful. And I was reading through all the characters, and I'm producing it. So, the director was asking me 'Who do you think?' And immediately the first person I thought of was Kit. Well, that's really sweet. I love that the first person she wanted to work with was a fellow Stark, because any Game of Thrones reunion is a good one. However, things got weird when Turner and Harington realized that their relationship in this new movie would be totally different than the one they had on the HBO show. Explaining that realization, Turner said: And so I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back like 'Yeah, I'd love to, but this is going to be really fucking weird, Soph.' And I was like, 'What is he talking about?' And then I was reading it, and I'm like kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex, and I'm like 'Oh, shoot, that's my brother.' Listen, I realize that in the Game of Thrones universe, being in a romantic relationship with your brother or niece is not necessarily unusual. However, it's also never not weird. Plus, the Stark siblings – i.e., Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, Rickon and Jon – never participated in the incest. Plus, with GOT being one of HBO's shows that got the world talking, it's admittedly hard to separate the actors from their characters. So, all that considered, yeah, it's weird that Sansa and Jon's actors are playing lovers. I love that they found it odd, too. In fact, it was so weird for them, Turner claimed that they were both 'retching' when they had to lock lips on set: But it's such a good script that he was like, 'We kind of have to do it.' So, then we put it out of our minds. And then we get on set, and it's the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst. Another really bad moment in my career. On top of this, earlier in the interview, she spoke about how 'foul' it was to work with cockroaches and rats on the same day for a different movie. She called that the 'worst day of my career.' However, a few minutes later, when they talked about The Dreadful, and Meyers asked if playing lovers with her GOT co-star was worse than the cockroaches, the actress said: Yeah. It was. So, you better believe I'm going to go see it. If they have confidence in it, I'll be thrilled to watch it, even if it means I have to work really, really hard to get over the fact that they played iconic siblings on Game of Thrones.

Specifically, it's from another reddit post, where fans showed off t-shirts they made for Deadpool & Wolverine. So it's unclear if the actor/filmmaker is teasing more information about that threequel, or something new coming on the horizons. Deadpool 3 featured a ton of cameos, including a short, but memorable appearance by Chris Hemsworth's Thor. In a clip the TVA acquired from the future of the Sacred Timeline, the God of Thunder is shown crying over Wade Wilson. But how this comes about remains a mystery. At the time of writing this story, Ryan Reynolds hasn't been officially confirmed to appear in any of the net two Avengers movies. He was noticeably missing from the Doomsday cast announcement, which might be a logical place for Wade Wilson and Thor to finally share the screen. Although Kevin Feige did confirm that not every actor in the movie was included in that announcement. Alternatively, Deadpool could show up in Secret Wars instead. The timing of Reynolds' above post definitely seems purposeful, as Doomsday is in the midst of filming as we speak. Hopefully the studio has plans to offer a payoff for this ongoing debate. Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters December 18th of next year as part of the 2026 movie release list.
