The youth allegedly threatened to demolish a temple in a Facebook post and made an "objectionable" remark about the Pahalgam terror attack.
Dehradun Police have arrested a youth for allegedly sharing a poster on social media related to the Pahalgam terror attack and the demolition of a 'mazar' inside Government Doon Hospital by the local administration, officials said.
According to the police, the youth has been identified as Sahil Khan (20), a resident of Deep Nagar near Shiv Mandir under the Nehru Colony police station.
The youth allegedly threatened to demolish a temple in a Facebook post and made an 'objectionable" remark about the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
Police said the 'mazar' was razed because it was an 'illegal" construction. The city administration demolished the structure using two JCB excavators on Friday night after sealing the area in the presence of police.
However, the Uttarakhand Waqf Board claimed that the 'mazar' was '100 years old" and was a legal structure.
The district administration said it gave notice to the 'mazar's' mutawalli (manager) to provide documents, but those associated with the 'mazar's' management claimed they never received the notice.
Police said some people are circulating videos of the demolition on social media, which they said 'may spoil the social harmony".
According to the officials, police are also monitoring social media to identify those who are circulating such videos and warned that strict actions will be taken against them.
Expressing his displeasure over the demolition of the 'mazar', Uttarakhand Waqf Board chairman Shadab Shams said that he has approached Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
'The chief minister has assured he will get the matter investigated, and action will be taken against whoever is found guilty," Shams said, adding that only an investigation can determine which side is right.
He added that the Waqf Board should also have been taken into confidence before taking any action, as the property was notified in the Waqf records.
Patients admitted to the hospital and their families used to come to the 'mazar' and offer 'chadar', Shams said.

Four arrested for cheating Navi Mumbai resident and agro firm of Rs 5.5 crore

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai cyber crime cell team detected two cyber fraud cases by arresting four individuals for cheating a Vashi resident and an agro firm of a total of Rs 5.50 crore. Gajanan Kadam, senior inspector of the cyber police station, said that a 70-year-old man residing in Vashi, who retired from Mantralaya, registered an FIR on March 8, alleging he was duped of Rs 4.71 crore in a share market trading scam by two accused. In November last year, he saw an advertisement on the Facebook ID of a global investment firm for investment in share market trading, assuring huge returns. As he showed interest, the fraudsters contacted him on WhatsApp and gave him tips for investment in the share market. The complainant invested using his wife's Dmat account. He was made to download the mobile app and provide KYC details. Initially, he invested Rs 5000, and the app showed Rs 2 lakhs returns, thus gaining his trust. Thereafter, the complainant gradually invested Rs 4.71 crore as the app displayed huge profits. As he was unable to withdraw his profit, he lodged an online complaint on the NCCRP portal. We recovered Rs 15 lakhs from the arrested cyber fraudsters, who were nabbed on June 7 after tracing the bank accounts where the complainant was made to transfer the money. The arrested accused are Vikas Gavhane (26), a Panvel resident, and his aide Manoj Kalapad (22), who pursued a Bachelor of Arts and hails from Malegaon, Washim district. They have been remanded to police custody till June 12. In another case, an agro firm in Turbhe was cheated of Rs 75 lakh. Two cyber fraudsters, including a woman, were arrested on June 6 by tracing them to Malvani, Malad after obtaining the bank account details to which the complainant was made to transfer Rs 75 lakhs. The amount was withdrawn by the two accused identified as Shabaj Ansari (30), a driver, and Bilkis Momin (49), a homemaker, who were arrested. The other accomplice of the arrested duo is being traced, informed Gajanan Kadam, Senior Inspector of the cyber police station. Inspector Kadam said, "On May 18, the complainant, who is the accountant of the agro firm, received a WhatsApp message from a person claiming he was the firm's director and that it was his new mobile number. The WhatsApp display profile was also of the director. The next day, when the accountant received a message from the same WhatsApp number asking him whether he was in the office, he was asked to check the balance in the firm's account. The accountant replied that the balance was Rs 1.5 crore, and he was told to urgently transfer Rs 75 lakh to a bank account, claiming that he needed it urgently for a project. Hence, the accountant transferred the said amount. As the accountant sent a screenshot of the transaction to the director's personal WhatsApp number, the director told him that he had not sent any message for transferring Rs 75 lakhs. Hence, as told by the director, the accountant lodged an online complaint of cyber fraud on the NCCRP portal on May 20." |

The podcast aired on June 5 had garnered over 20 million views. 'To say that I am humbled and overwhelmed is well short of what I truly feel. A big heartfelt thank you to all those who took the time to watch my 4-hour-plus podcast with @rajshamani 20 million views on YouTube alone in 4 days, and god knows how many more reposts on Instagram and Facebook fills my heart with joy that my true factual story is being heard. A big heartfelt thank you to all those who took the time to watch my 4 hour plus podcast with @rajshamani 20 million views on YouTube alone in 4 days and god knows how many more reposts on Instagram and… — Vijay Mallya (@TheVijayMallya) June 9, 2025 Mallya, who has been living in the United Kingdom since March 2016, had said in the podcast that he would 'seriously consider' returning to India if he is assured of a fair trial and a dignified existence in his home country. With nearly a million views, Mallya's latest post quickly gained traction and prompted mixed reactions. 'You deserve justice. Let's see when GOI support you. Good luck,' a user wrote. 'If you are really innocent a toy claim, hire the best lawyer, approach SC, and get a clean chit. You can then come back proudly with your head held high,' another user commented. 'You will always be remembered as a clown. That podcast had zero impact on mature people, only underage RCB fans might have believed it,' a third user reacted. A key accused in a major bank loan default case involving over Rs 9,000 crore linked to the Kingfisher Airlines, Mallya fled from India in 2016. He faces serious allegations of cheating, criminal conspiracy, money laundering, and the misuse of loan funds provided by a union of Indian banks, led by the State Bank of India (SBI). His companies are under probe by multiple agencies in India, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
