BBC confirms second series of hit comedy Amandaland
Since launching, Amandaland has averaged 6.4 million viewers to date, making it the BBC's second biggest comedy launch in recent years (excluding specials), behind Ludwig (9.5 million) and on par with The Outlaws (6.4 millions), according to the latest data.
The series has also been a hit with younger audiences, drawing 0.9 million 16-34s, the biggest BBC comedy audience in this demographic since The Cleaner in 2021.

Produced by Merman, Amandaland follows Lucy Punch as Amanda, who in series one had to downsize and up sticks to South Harlesden, or as the estate agent called it SoHa (definitely not the area around Wormwood Scrubs prison) post her divorce.
With both Manus and Georgie at secondary school, Amanda had to try and get her head around raising teenagers, dealing with modern motherhood horrors like teenage drinking, fake Instagram accounts and eco anxiety. Not even a woman as certain of her parenting as Amanda could deal with those nightmares alone.
Amanda's mother Felicity (Joanna Lumley) was constantly around, and completely in denial that she was, in fact, lonely. Theirs is a slightly unhealthy co-dependent relationship based on backhanded compliments and veiled snipes about her new home.
After a brief spell of freedom, Anne (Philippa Dunne) was sucked back into being Amanda's minion to help her navigate the social scene with the other parents at the children's new school. Thank God for Anne.
The first series also introduced a host of new characters, including Amanda's long-suffering downstairs neighbour Mal (Samuel Anderson) and JJ (Ekow Quartey), the stepfather to Mal's son Ned, as well as power couple Della and Fi (Siobhán McSweeney and Rochenda Sandall) and smooth-talking South African property developer Johannes (Peter Serafinowicz).
Co-writer and creator Holly Walsh says: 'We've been bowled over by the response to Amandaland and can't wait to get co-labbing on the next series.'
Sharon Horgan, Co-Founder of Merman says: 'With any new show you put out there, your main hope is to make something you love and are proud of. The extra bonus is that it's a critical hit. But to have a loyal audience of this size is just beyond your hopes and expectations. The incredible cast and writers, director and production team worked so hard on this show and it's so wonderful to see that hard work pay off. Special thanks to Lucy for being the most extraordinary front woman and to the BBC for having such faith in the idea of Amandaland from the off.'
Tanya Qureshi, Head of Comedy at the BBC says: 'We always had high hopes for Amandaland, but it's been amazing to see how much viewers have embraced not just the returning characters, but the brilliant new additions too. We're so thrilled to reunite with this talented team for another instalment of Amanda's new life in SoHa.'
Amandaland was created by Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters, Catastrophe), Holly Walsh (Motherland, The Other One, Dead Boss), Helen Serafinowicz (Motherland, Nova Jones), and Barunka O'Shaughnessy (Breeders, Trying, Motherland). It was written by Holly Walsh, Helen Serafinowicz, Barunka O'Shaughnessy and Laurence Rickard (Ghosts, Yonderland). Lionsgate distributes the series worldwide.
Critical Acclaim
'Punch carries most of the heavy lifting with ease, and the result is not only a spin-off that punches above its weight: it is lovely, life-affirming escapism.' The Times (5*)
'Joanna Lumley has made a career out of stealing shows. She can be great in a starring role, but when she's the support act, she's Absolutely Fabulous. From the moment she stumbles through the front door in Amandaland, Dame Joanna gathers up the laughs and sweeps them into her handbag like an aristocratic shoplifter on a spree.' Daily Mail (5*)
'With a hilarious dialogue from the same team who write Motherland, a glorious cast of characters old and news, and a dazzlingly fast and funny opening episode, Amandaland looks like being just as fabulous as its parent show.' Heat (5*)
'Amandaland will make you howl with laughter – Lucy Punch has never been better.' The Independent (4*)
'The signs are good that Amandaland could join the ranks of the great comedy spin-offs' Radio Times (4*)
'Original British comedy is enjoying a period of strength at the moment, and Amandaland has joined the ranks of the outstanding newcomers.' Financial Times (4*)
'All this action and wit is upheld perfectly by Lucy Punch, who makes the turn from enjoyable side character to magnetic main character with unexpected, brilliant ease… Turns out it packs quite the Punch.' The Evening Standard
'In short, it's genius.' New Statesman
'Amandaland is brilliant, brutal and 100% better than it has any right to be.' Stylist

Gary Lineker attends niece Tia's lavish wedding as fallout with brother Wayne eases
The brothers have reunited on two occasions this summer FEUD OVER? Back in June, Gary appeared to put his feud with brother Wayne to one side as they partied at a family wedding in Ibiza - and now they have taken yet another step towards putting their rift to bed. Tia shared the first glimpse of her lavish Mallorca wedding on Instagram on Wednesday - with her uncle clearly in attendance. She tied the knot with husband Harry Agombar, and her uncle Gary was sitting among the guests despite the 17-year feud between the Lineker brothers. Her father Wayne walked her down the alter and linked onto her arm as he did so. Tia looked stunning in a white dress, complete with a veil and huge bouquet of flowers. Her father walked beside her in a dapper black suit. BROTHERS REUNITE Gary was seen sitting among the guests, signalling a truce between the brothers. This was their second reunion in recent weeks. Back in June the former Match of the Day host's son Harry got married. Harry, 31, tied the knot with partner Bella in a luxurious ceremony on the Spanish island of Ibiza. Gary Lineker reveals Match of the Day blunder he made in last-ever appearance for first time in 26 years Spirits were high as all the family celebrated together beneath the sunshine. GARY AND WAYNE'S FEUD The two brothers are believed to have fallen out while Gary was with his second wife Danielle Bux. They travelled to Ibiza to visit Wayne but the trip broke their close relationship, which saw an end to their weekly phone calls. He told The Sun in 2015: "In my opinion, Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother. "Sadly Gary is no longer a part of my life. "They came to Ibiza in August 2008 and it was really awkward. "I didn't spark with Danielle and our relationship was cold." Wayne was Gary's best man at his first wedding to Michelle Cockayne in 1986. But the club owner did not attend as the ex-BBC host tied to knot with Danielle because his invite did not extend to his girlfriend at the time Ana Tanaka. Opening up on the brother's relationship in a recent interview with The Mail, Wayne said: "It's not so good to be honest, we don't really speak very often. "I'll always be his number one fan."

Yungblud reveals heartbreaking way he learned pal Ozzy Osbourne had died as he opens up on romance with Jesse Jo Stark
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IT has been a whirlwind few months for Yungblud. The British rocker landed his third consecutive No1 album with Idols, helped make history at Ozzy Osbourne's Back To The Beginning concert at Villa Park and now he is on the cusp of releasing his first feature-length music film. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 11 Yungblud was friends with Ozzy Osbourne Credit: Instagram 11 The artist is on the cusp of releasing his first feature-length music film, Are You Ready Boy? 'It's been f***ing nuts,' Yungblud, real name Dominic Harrison, tells me from his very posh suite in The Londoner Hotel. As I hug him with a glass of wine in hand, he laughs and tells me: 'Why the f***k not? I'll have a glass of champagne.' Dom, who Bizarre have championed since the release of his debut album in 2019, is always the most colourful, clever and captivating interviewee. And when we speak about his close friendship with Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy he is visibly moved. 'The past couple of weeks have been very weird to connect with,' Dom explains. 'You get to know someone personally, who you love. And then they leave. 'I was texting him, then his son Jack texted me and said, 'He's gone.' I'm like, 'What?' 'Being around the family and being at the funeral, the amount of love there. That family are real as f***k. 'The dream is to have kids and a family like that. There's no gimmicks. It's authentic.' Dom has now released his live version of Ozzy's 1972 solo hit Changes as a charity single to help raise money for Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Acorns Children's Hospice. He adds: 'The best thing is that I got to honour my hero. That's all I was thinking about. I was singing for one man there.' Touching clip Jack Osbourne reveals how dad Ozzy's fan tributes are being saved with 'flowers to be buried with him' His new film, Yungblud. Are You Ready Boy?, was made in Berlin, with cameras following Dom and his band as they recorded a live version of Idols at the Hansa Studios where David Bowie and U2 laid down some of their famous albums. The footage is searingly honest and shows a different side to the brash, confident Yungblud who his fans adore. 'I will never watch it again, it's too uncomfortable,' Dom explains of the film, which will be shown in 150 cinemas nationwide between August 20 and 24. 'I was ready to make a film like this because I completely alleviated all control. 'When people have seen ten seconds of me on the internet, they think they know me. But I'm calm, I'm emotional, I'm angry in places, I'm very passionate. 'I think something like this in today's day and age, where you elongate the imagination, you let it be raw as f**k, is rare. And I think it's going to stand out.' 11 The Sun's Ellie Henman with Yungblud Credit: Supplied Created by filmmaker Paul Dugdale, Yungblud is seen performing the 12-track album in full — with only one take per track. Dom explains: 'I said to Paul, 'I don't want to do it after we've been on the road and toured it for a year.' Because when it becomes muscle memory, it's easier. 'The red light goes on, you've got to do it in one take.' The two-hour film also shines a light on Dom's relationship with fellow musician Jesse Jo Stark. In a series of candid interviews, Dom opens up about his decision to put their relationship on hold so he could focus on himself and making the record. I revealed this week that the pair are now back together. And Dom, it's clear to see, is a man who is very much in love. He says: 'Sacrificing Jesse Jo and the love bit, it's a very strange thing. 'I've never been in a real relationship in rock music — genuinely loving someone. We all know there's fing couples out there that do this for the media. 'Genuinely, we really love each other. It's so hard to navigate in rock music. When everyone's staring, everyone's got a perception, everyone's got a narrative 'Like when your narrative isn't yours, it's painted by how many views a video gets. The more views a video gets, the more truthful it is, you know. That was rough.' For now, life for Dom is good, and his mum and aunts were at the film premiere in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday. As I leave, Dom tells me: 'I'm still just Dom from Donny, who's trying to f***ing get that high note. To touch the f***ing sky.' I think you've already got to Cloud Nine, Dom. The Rolling Stones rocker is understood to have invited around 50 guests, including his bandmate Ronnie Wood and actor Sacha Baron Cohen, but kept a divide to make sure he had some space. Comedian Rob Beckett blagged himself a seat at the table after being invited to the event by Jimmy Carr. And I'm amazed he could remember any of it as he turned up after watching Oasis at Wembley Stadium. Rob revealed: 'I said hello to Mick. I didn't properly chat to him because there was a separate room that had Mick in it with Sacha. 'I was chatting to Ronnie Wood and Ronnie's wife, Sally, for most of the night.' Speaking on his Parenting Hell podcast, Rob added: 'A cake came out, a lovely chocolate cake. I'm stood there and I'm absolutely off my f***ing head. 'I've drunk, I'd say at this point, six pints of lager, two espresso martinis, and I'd say a bottle-and-a-half of rose, and just been to the best gig of my life. 'I'm stood wearing a Stone Island anorak with a vodka and soda talking absolute s***e.' I've got lots of time to kill. 'Sorry to anyone that had tickets to my shows. Trust me, I'd rather be on stage.'
