Six Maoists were killed during a fierce encounter in the dense forests of Pariya-Kakur in Abujhmarh in Narayanpur district of Bastar division.
The operation was conducted under the state-led 'Marh Bachao Abhiyan' and part of the broader Operation Monsoon, has marked a significant achievement for Narayanpur Police and joint security forces, including DRG, STF, and BSF units.
Among the six Maoists killed were Rahul Punem alias Lachhu (38), DVCM, Commander, PLGA Platoon No.
01 from Sukma, Ungi Tati (24), Member, from Jagargunda, Sukma, Manisha (25), Member, from Sonpur, Narayanpur, Tati Meena alias Somari alias Chhoti (22), Member, from Gangloor, Bijapur, Harish alias Kosa (25), Member, from Pamed, Bijapur and Kudam Budhri (21), Member, from Dhanora, Narayanpur.
Each carried an individual reward of Rs 8 lakh announced by the Chhattisgarh government.
Police officials said that despite difficult terrain and heavy rains, security forces launched an intensive search operation based on specific intelligence inputs.
The offensive began on July 17 and involved DRG personnel from Narayanpur, Bastar, Kondagaon, and Kanker districts, supported by STF units and the 129th, 133rd, and 135th battalions of the Border Security Force (BSF).
On July 18, intermittent gunfire exchanges erupted between Maoist cadres and the advancing forces. The operation culminated in a major breakthrough with the recovery of six bodies and a cache of sophisticated weapons, including one AK-47 rifle, an SLR, a 12-bore gun, 11 BGL launchers, and 83 BGL shells.

Explosives, Maoist literature, and survival items were also seized from the site.
With this operation, the total number of Maoists neutralized in Bastar in 2025 has risen to 204.
Addressing the press at Police Line, Narayanpur, Inspector General (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P. said, 'A determined and effective campaign is underway across Bastar against the banned CPI (Maoist). The neutralization of over 200 Maoists this year underscores the unwavering commitment of the police and security forces to restore peace and development.'
Superintendent of Police, Narayanpur, Robinson Guria, added, 'We are in a decisive phase of eliminating Naxalism from Bastar. Those still trapped in this hollow ideology must surrender and return to the mainstream. If not, they will meet the same fate.'

Four booked for duping jobseekers; PSA slapped on two criminals in Jammu
Representative image JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir Police's Crime Branch has registered three separate cases against fraudsters, including one already in custody, for allegedly duping several jobseekers of Rs 1.5 crore on the pretext of providing govt jobs, officials said Sunday. Crime Branch (Jammu) SSP Benam Tosh said the FIRs were registered on the basis of separate complaints. He said an FIR was registered against Ajay Kumar of Doda district on two complaints by six victims who claimed he had duped them of Rs 1.06 crore. Another FIR was registered against suspended govt school teacher Jameel Anjum of Jammu on the basis of a joint complaint by nine victims. Anjum, currently in judicial custody in a separate case, duped them of Rs 39 lakh, the SSP said. The third FIR was registered against Iftikhar Ali and Nazir Ali of Ramban district following a complaint by Mohd Taki. Meanwhile, police detained two criminals under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). Mohd Tahir, a native of Reasi district now living in Jammu's Bhatindi area, has a long criminal history. He was detained on the district magistrate's order and lodged in Kathua district jail, a police spokesperson said. Another criminal, Hafizullah, of Nilote-Assar village in Doda, was detained and lodged in Bhaderwah jail.

21-yr-old held for smuggling cough syrup in Mumbai
Mumbai: A 21-year-old woman was arrested by the Customs for trying to smuggle out 99 bottles of phensedyl (cough syrup) under the NDPS act. Officials said that the syrup contains Triprolidine hydrochloride and codeine phosphate, a controlled narcotic substance under the NDPS act. The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs on Sunday on specific intelligence intercepted Layba Noor while she was trying to board Mumbai-Riyadh flight at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International terminals. On checking her baggage resulted in recovery of 99 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup of 100 ml having value of Rs 22, 374 . MACT award 1cr to kin of cop killed in road mishap
Thane: The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane has asked the (MSRTC) to pay a compensation of Rs 1.12 crore to the family of a police constable killed in a road accident in 2022. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In the order passed on Friday, the MACT, presided over by member R V Mohite, directed the MSRTC to pay the compensation along with an interest at 9 per cent per annum, from the date of the petition until the amount is deposited, within one month from the date of the award. Girish Ashok Harad (30), constable with the Mumbai police, was on way to join night duty on his scooter when a speeding MSRTC bus proceeding from Badlapur side towards Murbad left the road and collided with his vehicle near Sonawale village in Thane district. Harad suffered serious injuries and succumbed while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kalyan. The Kulgaon police had registered an FIR under various sections of the IPC against the MSRTC bus driver and filed a chargesheet. At the time of the accident, Harad was earning Rs 58,822 per month. The claimants included his wife, minor daughter, parents and unmarried sister, who were dependent on his income. The MSRTC, represented by advocate H P Patil, countered the claim, asserting the accident occurred due to the sole negligence of the deceased. It argued that the bus was on the correct side and the scooter, coming from the opposite direction at high speed, slipped and collided with the bus. The claimants, represented by advocate M A Pendse, presented evidence, including the FIR, spot panchanama, postmortem report, and chargesheet. The tribunal noted the road was wet at the time of the accident. It means it was raining either before the accident or at the time of accident. The compensation amount included loss of future income at Rs 72,73,728, future prospect - Rs 36,36,864, loss of consortium - Rs 2,00,000, loss of estate - Rs 15,000, funeral expenses - Rs. 15,000, and loss of love and affection - Rs 1,50,000. The tribunal ordered that the constable's wife be given Rs 60.90 lakh, his three-year-old daughter Rs 44 lakh, while his parents were to be given Rs 3 lakh each and his sister Rs 2 lakh. It said Rs 25 lakh of the compensation for the claimant's wife is to be invested in a fixed deposit for five years in a nationalised bank, while the compensation for his daughter is to be invested in a fixed deposit until she attains the age of majority.
