CeeDee Lamb says Cowboys have two WR1s — but a Pickens meltdown could prove otherwise
George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb would make a terrifying WR duo — if they can co-exist.
Lamb recently spoke highly of his new Cowboys teammate at the Kyler Murray Foundation Celebrity Softball Game on Saturday, and claimed there is zero debate about who the real WR1 is:
"Oh no, we both [WR1s]," Lamb said. "It ain't no A/B — none of that. It's ones — you look over there, you see one. You look over here, you see another one."
This notion seems great on paper — but Steelers fans had a front-row seat to what unfolded when Pickens didn't get the ball enough. Ironically, so did Lamb — as last season, Pickens wore profanity-laced eye black that read "Always F------ Open" against the Cowboys in Week 5. He had just three receptions for 26 yards.
Following the game, the former disgruntled receiver ripped on the face mask of then-Cowboys CB Jourdan Lewis, pulling him to the ground — another rash, immature decision that cost him over $10,000 in fines.
He also played second fiddle to Steelers WR Calvin Austin III in the Week 12 loss to Cleveland — where Pickens's immature antics caused him to give up on a last-ditch Hail Mary play to instead focus on fighting Browns CB Greg Newsome II.
If the Cowboys can manage to feed Pickens the ball, things could work out just fine. But if he isn't treated like the true WR1 — chaos is inevitable.

Steelers' T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig go viral in new training picture ahead of record deal

T.J. Watt is here to stay — and just hours before his record-setting deal made headlines, he was already making waves on social media with fellow Wisconsin Badger and Steelers OLB Nick Herbig. Pittsburgh's superstar edge rusher took to Instagram to post a workout photo alongside Herbig. Grinning ear to ear next to his protege, it was clear Watt already knew his historic extension was set in stone and would be reported later in the day. Watt, who just became the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL with his new three-year, $123 million extension, has continued to mentor Herbig under his wing since the Steelers drafted the young outside linebacker in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The two Steelers will team with starting ROLB Alex Highsmith and rookie Jack Sawyer to form one of the most stacked edge-rushing units in the NFL — made possible for the foreseeable future now that Watt has put pen to paper with Pittsburgh. Cowboys Standouts Named Among NFL's Top Homegrown Duos

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. While they have made significant upgrades through trades and free agency over the years, the Dallas Cowboys have also done a fine job creating talent in-house. Ahead of the 2025 season, two key members of the roster received high praise amid their emergence as star-level talents. Back in 2020, luck fell the Cowboys' way when wide receiver CeeDee Lamb slid in the draft. Dallas managed to nab him at pick No. 17, and since then, he's blossomed into a core piece for the franchise. Lamb has racked up at least 1,000 yards in each of the last four seasons and landed All-Pro honors in 2023 after leading the league in receptions (135). Fast forward to 2021, and the Cowboys secured a pillar for the other side of the ball. Following a strong college career at Penn State, Dallas drafted Micah Parsons 12th overall. He was brought in to raise the Cowboys' floor on defense, but has done so much more than that. Parsons has developed into one of the league's top defensive stars, finishing top three in Defensive Player of the Year voting three times in four seasons. Parsons and Lamb made an appearance on this list, securing the No. 1 spot. "Parsons entered the NFL from Penn State with plenty of deserved attention, but even the most avid Nittany Lions supporters likely didn't expect him to be this good at the next level. The true transformation into a game-wrecking pass rusher occurred once the Cowboys committed to playing him on the ball, sacrificing his sideline-to-sideline range in favor of sending him on repeated quarterback hunts," Shook wrote. "Lamb has been a star since his days at Oklahoma, yet he remained available until the middle of the 2020 NFL Draft's first round. Dallas happily scooped him up at No. 17 overall and immediately bestowed great expectations upon him by handing him the franchise's venerated No. 88 jersey. He's done nothing but meet those expectations, even when the circumstances surrounding him haven't been ideal." Last year, Dallas inked Lamb to a four-year extension worth $136 million. Parsons is now due for a new contract, and based on his production and impact, could end up landing a record-setting deal on par with that of Pittsburgh Steelers star TJ Watt. Following a down year in 2024, Lamb and Parsons will attempt to help the Cowboys return to prominence in the NFC this season. For more Dallas Cowboys and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
