Bears look to snap skid in Terre Haute
SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Missouri State Bears will try it again Wednesday night in Terre Haute.
Cuonzo Martin's Bears will face Indiana State as their quest for a Valley victory continues.
In our Bear Nation report, Zo's troops almost got that elusive victory Saturday afternoon.
Missouri State took 18-2 Drake into overtime before losing 69-62.
The Bears are 0-10 in conference games.
Michael Osei-Bonsu scored a career high 24 points in the loss.
Martin says his team showed fight and tenacity.
'They're great guys. They're workers. You just have to continue to get better. And so whatever you lack in skill you have to have in fight and grit and toughness. And we have to continue to grow with some guys in that area. If you can't score you have to defend, rebound and play as hard as you can play,' said Martin.

Barcelona defender set for surgery after injury on international duty
Barcelona have been relatively injury-free over the course of the season, but saw two of their players go down on international duty at the under-21 Euros on the opening day of competition. One of them is set for surgery. Spain were up against the hosts Slovakia on Wednesday, and after going 2-0 up in the opening 20 minutes, were forced to find a late winner through Cesar Tarrega after Slovakia had mounted a second-half comeback. La Rojita will face Italy and Romania in their remaining group games. Gerard Martin set for surgery Barcelona have two players with Spain at the tournament, with Gerard Martin and Pablo Torre both starting. Both were performing well, but would not make it to the end of the match due to injury, with Martin coming off at half-time, and Torre taken off 13 minutes into the second half. Image via Sport. Advertisement Martin had suffered a hand injury, and Jijantes report that he has suffered a break. The 23-year-old has flown back to Barcelona to undergo surgery – it is not yet clear how long he will be out for. The fact that he has left the Spain camp for surgery suggests his tournament with the under-21 side could be over though. Meanwhile Torre came off with muscle discomfort, and so far there has been no update on his injury either. Doubts about future Martin enjoyed a decent debut campaign for Barcelona under Hansi Flick, and was set to be Alejandro Balde's alternative next year too. Yet following interest from the Premier League, with three teams looking at him, it has emerged that the Blaugrana would be willing to cash in on Martin. The asking price is reportedly €12m. As a result, Barcelona are now on the lookout for potential left-back opportunities on the transfer market, should an offer for Martin arrive. Bayer Leverkusen's Alejandro Grimaldo has voiced a desire to return to the Blaugrana.

Olivia Araujo crushed her first varsity homer, blasting Greater New Bedford softball off to Division 3 final
With the 10th-seeded Bears trailing No. 6 Foxborough by a run in the top of the sixth inning, the sophomore crushed a two-out, two-run homer to left, launching the Bears into their third state final in eight years with a 3-2 Division 3 semifinal win at UMass Dartmouth. 'I love big moments,' said Araujo. 'I love the pressure. There's not a better situation you can be in.' Did she know it was gone off the bat? 'Absolutely not,' she said. How about her coach, Craig Soares? 'Never expected that from Olivia,' he said. 'She's a gamer. She hits the ball. But I wasn't expecting that.' 10th seeded — Brendan Kurie (@BrendanKurie) Araujo's blast complemented Akiira'ley Vazquez's big day. The freshman homered in the first inning and pitched a complete game, striking out eight while working around seven hits and three walks, including escaping a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the sixth. Advertisement 'I wanted to win it for my team,' Vazquez said. 'They do so much to help me. When I put people on or when someone gets on, I try super hard not to let them score.' What a defensive play from Mid 4th — Brendan Kurie (@BrendanKurie) Foxborough (15-9) went ahead in the bottom of the fifth when Emma Callahan grounded an RBI single up the middle and Mackenzie Crockford raced home on a wild pitch for a brief, 2-1, lead. In the title game, the Bears (18-8), who won it all in 2018 and 2022, will take on the winner of top-seeded Dighton-Rehoboth (22-2) and No. 5 Nipmuc (21-2), who play Thursday.
