Revealed: Chelsea's extra motivation for winning the Club World Cup final after PSG's over-confident antics before the match
Chelsea were given a little something extra to fight for ahead of their Club World Cup final triumph over Paris Saint-Germain, a new report has revealed. The Blues outclassed the European champions last week to win 3-0 and become the first side to lift the Club World Cup in its revamped 32-team format. Enzo Maresca 's side were relentless from the first whistle in New Jersey, scoring all three before half-time and putting the game well out of reach; PSG looked a far cry from their usual selves which saw them win the treble last season. And now, it can be revealed what triggered that added motivation in the Chelsea camp. On the eve of the final, at a FIFA-organised dinner involving both clubs, Chelsea's delegation noticed how occupied PSG's representatives were with discussing the logistics of their trophy celebration. The Parisians were preoccupied with how and where they would collect the trophy, according to The Times. PSG's people were reportedly preoccupied with how and where they would collect the trophy Maresca was informed of this over-confidence and passed the information onto the players, who seemingly took it to heart. But tensions between the clubs did not stop at full-time, with a heated post-match clash between following the result. PSG boss Luis Enrique appeared to strike Chelsea striker Joao Pedro in the face during a confrontation. Pedro was initially embroiled in a conflict with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi - with Andrey Santos also on the scene - before Enrique marched over towards the situation. But rather than defusing the situation, the Spanish manager made it physical, laying his hands on Pedro before being held back by his own player Presnel Kimpembe. Pedro fell to the floor in dramatic fashion, clutching at his face. Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia stepped in to defend their team-mate, holding back a visibly frustrated Gianluigi Donnarumma, who appeared to berate Pedro for his animated reaction. What followed was pandemonium, with around five Chelsea players swarming Donnarumma in the aftermath. The PSG goalkeeper was shoved by Tosin Adarabioyo, as Kimpembe continued his attempts to defuse tensions alongside Chelsea's Filip Jorgensen. Pedro eventually got back to his feet, only to find himself at the centre of a chaotic melee involving too many bodies to count. On the touchline, a furious Enzo Maresca stormed in to drag his players away, shouting at those involved as he tried to restore order. The Chelsea boss was also seen pulling Donnarumma aside, attempting to calm his fellow Italian in a bid to defuse the flare-up. The chaotic scenes followed a match that saw six yellow cards shared between the two sides, and a red card for PSG midfielder Joao Neves, who was sent off in the 85th minute for violent conduct. Speaking on the incident, Enrique said: 'This was completely avoidable at the end, my goal was always to separate footballers, there was a lot of tension and pressure, there was a whole bunch of pushing that we should all try to avoid. My intention is to avoid it getting worse.'

Maya Jama looks happier than ever as she shares romantic snap with Man City ace Ruben Dias
Love Island's Maya Jama looked the picture of happiness as she shared a snap of her and her Manchester City boyfriend Ruben Dias as they holiday on the party island of Ibiza Earlier this year Maya Jama took the major step of going Instagram official with the new man in her life, Manchester City footballer Ruben Dias. And it looks as though things have been going from strength to strength over recent months, if her latest post is anything to go by. Maya took time out of her filming duties to spend quality time with Ruben on the party island of Ibiza. In one snap, Maya is seen cuddled into Ruben laughing coyly. Meanwhile, Ruben placed his head down towards her in a loving embrace. In other pictures, Maya is seen riding a bike along with landscape views of the magical island. Maya captioned the post saying: "la isla de la magia." And fans could not wait to comment. One person wrote: "Winning at life." And a host of other fans post love heart emojis. But this is not the first time Maya has posted holiday snaps of the pair. Back in January was the first time the TV presenter posted loved up snaps of the pair while on holiday. Speculation over Maya dating Ruben first started to circulate on News Year's Eve in December last year. And this came after the pair bumped into each other at the MTV Europe Music Awards, in Manchester in November. And this came just few months after her second public split with rapper Stormzy. Maya and the rapper first started dating in 2014 and their relationship lasted five years before their first break-up. But on reflection on what ultimately led to their split, Maya said in an interview: "We were so young when we met, just beginning our careers. I was starting at MTV. He'd not even released a single at that point. We were just little babies." She added: "I don't think either of us knew it was going to be such a big thing. We were just: we're young and in love and we're going to go for it and work really hard. We're just together. We never really did red carpets. We didn't do any of that stuff." At the time Stormzy had even hinted that marriage was on the cards during an interview in 2018 with the Sunday Mirror. He said at the time: "I'm still so young but I want to propose, it's going to happen and I will do it right. She is so sick, she is the best." Years later, the pair reunited and tried for a second time to make their relationship work but to no avail. Sadly, thew couple called time on their romance in July 2024. Sharing a joint statement, it read: "We tried and it didn't work and that's okay."

Man City want £35m for James McAtee as Nottingham Forest and West Ham weigh up moves
Manchester City's valuation of James McAtee is proving a stumbling block for the England Under-21 captain's legion of suitors. Nottingham Forest and West Ham United as well as Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany are all competing for McAtee's signature. Most of McAtee's suitors had been hoping to strike a deal around the £20 million to £25 million mark for the player, who has entered the final year of his contract at City. But City are thought to be holding out for around £35m, meaning there is a significant gap in valuations. McAtee's admirers have not been deterred and Forest are thought to be among the clubs who could advance their interest in the City attacking midfielder in the days ahead. But there will be some significant negotiating to be done to strike a deal. City sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea for £42.5m in 2023 and have been using that as something of a benchmark on their pricing for McAtee. McAtee spent some time in Germany recently to meet Frankfurt and Dortmund and is believed to have been impressed by what he saw. Forest and West Ham are also pushing for the player as they bid to strengthen their attacks. Forest have sold Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for £55m while Morgan Gibbs-White faces an uncertain future amid Tottenham Hotspurs' efforts to sign the England midfielder. West Ham manager Graham Potter wants attacking reinforcements having sold Mohammed Kudus to Spurs for £55m. City are interested in re-signing James Trafford should Ederson or Stefan Ortega leave the club this summer. Newcastle had identified Trafford as a leading target but the England Under-21 goalkeeper is believed to have had his head turned by City's interest. Burnley have been holding out for up to £40m for Trafford after rejecting a bid from Newcastle worth around £25m. City sold Trafford to Burnley for a projected £19m in 2023 and have a buy-back option on the goalkeeper but, like Newcastle, they are not thought to be willing to pay as much as £40m. Ederson has been linked with a move to Galatasaray but senior sources at City have played down the talk of a switch to the Turkish club. The Brazil goalkeeper said late last month that rumours of him leaving were 'fake news' and that he expected to stay at City. Ortega's future remains the source of some uncertainty and if he was to leave City would need a replacement. City signed goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea last month following the departure of long-standing No 3 Scott Carson. Meanwhile, City are still planning on midfielder Nico González and academy graduate Nico O'Reilly, who has been linked with a number of loan moves, remaining at the club this summer. González, who joined City from Porto for £50m in January, has been attracting interest on the continent.
