The 2025 British Open, the final men's major championship of the year, and the world's best golfers are set to tee off in less than 24 hours at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
The tee times for the tournament have been announced, and the first group will include some notable players. The first round on Thursday will kick off early, featuring defending champion Xander Schauffele, U.S. Open champion J.J. Spaun, and Jon Rahm. The competition is set to be fierce as they are followed by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, and Shane Lowry, the 2019 British Open champion.
The late morning group, a highly anticipated trio of Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, and Rory McIlroy, is set to draw all eyes. McIlroy, in particular, is on a quest for his second major of the year and the chance of winning the Claret Jug in his home country.

British Open final round live updates, leaderboard: Scottie Scheffler, again, is way out in front at Royal Portrusn

The final round of the British Open is here, and it feels like it's Scottie Scheffler's to lose. Scheffler enters Sunday's round with a massive four-shot lead at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, which has him on the cusp of claiming his fourth career major championship and his first ever Claret Jug. The top-ranked golfer in the world fired a bogey-free round on Saturday with ease, and nobody else seemed able to even make a dent in his lead. We've been here plenty of times before. Scheffler has won all three of his other major championships after holding a 54-hole lead. He's actually won his last nine tournaments when he's held the lead at that point of an event, too. Scheffler will go off with Haotong Li, who got to 10-under on the week. Matt Fitzpatrick and Rory McIlroy — who is starting six shots back despite his own impressive 5-under outing on Saturday — will be in the penultimate group. Scheffler's win on Sunday isn't guaranteed by any means. There is still a lot of golf left to be played. But at the way he's going, it's going to take a lot of work for someone else to overtake him. Stick with Yahoo Sports for the latest updates from Sunday's action in Northern Ireland.
