Virgin Media customers must check their TV boxes NOW or face being blocked from BBC iPlayer in days
The popular streaming service, for everything from EastEnders catch-up to Doctor Who box sets, will stop working on some kit from Wednesday.

The Sun exclusively revealed Virgin Media's plan to drop support last month.
Virgin told us that they had written directly to the "small proportion" of customers affected about the change.
The good news is households impacted can upgrade to a newer box that still has access to iPlayer at no extra cost.
It's Virgin TV's older TiVo models that will lose the streaming app from July 23 onward.
V6 and Virgin TV 360 boxes will continue to offer access to BBC iPlayer as normal.
"We have written directly to the small proportion of customers with a TiVo box, who have used BBC iPlayer within the past six months, to inform them that their box will not support iPlayer from 23 July," Virgin Media told The Sun.
"As we have previously communicated directly to relevant customers, anyone with a TiVo box is able to upgrade to a new Virgin TV 360 box at no extra cost."
The move may not come as much of a surprise, what with the first TiVo-powered box launched way back in 2010.
Virgin's most recently box is Virgin TV 360, which burst onto the scene in 2020 with access to more entertainment apps and personalisation.
So if you're affected, act now to avoid the nasty surprise of no BBC iPlayer very soon.

WHY DOES TECH STOP WORKING?
By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun
It's annoying when tech and gadgets are discontinued, rendering some features useless.
Fortunately, companies have got better at lengthening how long they support kit.
It tends to only happen after quite a few years have passed and the user numbers have dropped quite low.
The truth of the matter is, firms have to keep updating and servicing this older tech which costs them money.
When there's only a small number of people left using them older gadgets, it's harder to justify the cost.
Moreover, new features on things like apps may not work on dated kit.
So ultimately, in the end support is dropped for these gadgets so all their energy, money and time can be put into the newer ones.

Ellen DeGeneres would 'love' UK talk show as she moves on from bullying scandal
Ellen DeGeneres has said she'd 'love' to host a talk show in the UK after moving over from the US. However, there's one problem. The American comedian, 67, moved to Britain with her wife, Portia de Rossi, 52, in November last year, deciding to set up a new life here after Donald Trump was re-elected. While she tends to keep a low profile these days, this weekend, Ellen made her first public appearance since relocating, joining a conversation with Richard Bacon at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham. She reflected on the bullying scandal that rocked her hit talk show in the States, ultimately leading to a decline in popularity and its full cancellation in 2022. After fronting over 3,000 episodes, Ellen hosted her final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May of that year, having been engulfed by accusations of a toxic workplace and at the centre of a wider investigation. Despite it leading to a decline in viewership, Ellen has remained defiant in the face of the allegations, now saying she'd jump at the chance to replicate some success in the UK. But while she misses her old chat show 'a lot', she isn't sure its format would work anymore, as she explained tonight in quotes obtained by BBC. 'I mean, I wish it did, because I would do the same thing here. I would love to do that again,' she admitted. 'But I just feel like people are watching on their phones, or people aren't really paying attention as much to televisions, because we're so inundated with information and entertainment.' Ellen confessed to having no plans for what she wants to do next, but she'll be planning her future career moves 'very carefully'. 'I just don't know what that is yet,' she stated, declaring that she does want to have 'fun' after growing 'bored' in recent months, now that she's not in front of the bright lights and cameras. Ellen, who now lives in a sprawling Cotswolds mansion, previously spoke about being 'cancelled' by the internet when she was accused of being 'mean' to staff behind the scenes. She once called the accusations of toxicity behind the cameras of her show 'orchestrated' and 'misogynistic', later telling her 2024 tour crowd that she struggled with knowing how to confront the matter. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'No matter what, any article that came up, it was like, 'She's mean,' and it's like, how do I deal with this without sounding like a victim or 'poor me' or complaining? But I wanted to address it,' she said in the accompanying Netflix stand-up special. 'It's as simple as I'm a direct person, and I'm very blunt, and I guess sometimes that means that… I'm mean?' The accusations against Ellen and her talk show gained widespread media attention when the complainants came forward in 2020. The host was said to have enabled not only the 'toxic' atmosphere but also 'racism, fear, and intimidation'. Furthermore, Ellen was accused of failing to address higher-ups sexually harassing female employees and directing 'racist micro-aggressions and abuse' towards employees of colour. Other accusations included staff members being fired for taking medical and bereavement leave. After the internal probe into the show's culture, three producers were sacked for alleged misconduct, with Ellen giving an on-air apology in her final show opening. Ellen, who had also vowed to retreat from showbiz for good after fulfilling her contractual commitments, now admits that life is 'just better' in the UK, having splashed out on a blissful 43-acre property in the countryside. Speaking tonight about her big move, she revealed she and former actress wife Portia, whom she wed in 2008, originally wanted it to be a 'part-time house'. They had planned to spend three or four months a year in the UK, but she now confirms it's true that the last US election swayed her decision. More Trending 'We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in',' she recalled. 'And we're like, 'We're staying here'.' Ellen and Portia—who was present in the audience along with several other family members and celebs when Ellen's show ended—first met at a party in 2000. In their first joint interview in 2009, Portia confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she knew she loved Ellen the moment she laid eyes on her. Got a story? Billie Piper reveals major change for Doctor Who two decades after her debut
Billie Piper was 'revealed' as the next Doctor when the latest series ended in May - and is set to reprise her role as Rose Tyler in a new audio drama series Billie Piper has said making Doctor Who now would be 'completely different' to when she first appeared on the BBC show 20 years ago. The 42-year-old joined as Rose Tyler, the companion to Christopher Eccleston, back in 2005. She remained on the show for another series in 2006 and returned for a special cameo appearance in 2010. Though details have yet to formally be announced, it's thought she will be the next Doctor if a new series is made. It comes after Ncuti Gatwa's shock exit during the finale of the latest series when his character regenerated into Billie in his final episode, which aired in May. If she is, Billie will make history as the second female actor ever to play the Doctor. So far, Jodie Whittaker is the only female to take on the iconic role. But before that, Billie is set to reunite with former Doctor Ecclestone for a new audio drama titled The Ninth Doctor Adventures. Speaking to Doctor Who magazine, Billie reflected on their previous time working together and said: "If we just made the Doctor Who that we made 20 years ago now, it would feel slightly disingenuous, because things were so different then, even 20 years ago, to what we're experiencing, what we've seen, what we've been exposed to since. "God, we were so much more positive then. People have been profoundly affected by the material they see on social media. And it's been so normalised; everyone is a lot more heavy-hearted." She added: "It's not to say that we don't have a capacity for joy, because I think we absolutely do, but to ignore where we are right now... it's a completely different experience." Instead, The Ninth Doctor Adventures audio series will feature the Doctor and Rose. Set within the timeline of their original season together from 20 years ago, fans will be treated to 12 new stories. And it might not be long before Billie is back on TV screens. Appearing to confirm she is the new Doctor, she said in a statement last month: "It's no secret how much I love this show, and I have always said I would love to return to the Whoniverse, as I have some of my best memories there. So to be given the opportunity to step back on that Tardis one more time was just something I couldn't refuse." Asked if she would ever make a comeback in an interview filmed weeks before the news was officially announced, she said: "Yeah I would… I would come back. What's funny is that I never feel like I've left Doctor Who, because there is this huge Doctor Who afterlife." She continued: "Obviously people still really want to talk about it, it's a massive fandom, so we do conventions and we meet lots of the fans, and there's always features. It's always on the TV on some channel, and a new generation pick it up, so it never feels like it's over, like it does with all the other jobs I've done." It's been reported that the 10th Doctor, played by David Tennant, could also return to the TV show. A source told The Sun: "The BBC brought Doctor Who back in 2005 and there is talk about a possible one-off project to celebrate the 20th anniversary. "David and Billie were a hugely popular partnership and he brought in a golden age of Doctor Who. With the anniversary of the reboot this year there have been some ideas floated about, with the thought of maybe bringing David and Billie back together for one last hurrah. 'It wouldn't be beyond the realms of imagination for him to return with Billie as Rose for a one-off special to celebrate not only their partnership, but the anniversary of BBC bringing back Doctor Who."

Watch as Love Island boy ‘slyly' tries to rekindle romance with ex but is shut down in awkward moment
LOVE Island's player Harry appeared to have his head turned AGAIN tonight as he pulled Shakira for a chat. Harry tried to make amends following the Couple of Sorts game, and the comment he made suggesting she was still interested in him. 3 3 He told her: 'I'm not trying to come between anything you're doing. "I think if you did like me, you'd go after it… you're a smart girl and you'd do what you want.' 'I think the world of you,' he continued. 'I just wanted to apologise to you and I am sorry.' Shakira replied: 'What was said in the kitchen was so misconstrued… "For you guys to bring it up in a challenge is stupid and I don't know why you did it to be honest. "I thought it was uncalled for but I appreciate your apology.' But Harry then went digging to find out if Shakira had regrets about them splitting. A curious Harry asked: 'Do you think it would have been a better experience for you if we were to stay together?' Shakira shut him down and replied: "No, I think you would have just continued hurting me." Harry shockingly replied: "But I think it would have been a better experience." Shakira added: "I mean we had a good time." ITV2 viewers were shocked at Harry appearing to try and rekindle his romance with Shakira, as viewers praised Shakira for "friend-zoning" him. One wrote: "It's bad that Harry keeps blatantly hinting at Shakira he wants to be with her, but the villa are making it seem like it's Shakira who is acting like that." A second said: "You know what lives rent free in my head, Harry manipulates every girl - my man was really telling Shakira he missed her and thought the experience would be better with her…. He chose Helena, mugged her off w his ex and fired some shots with Angel. Delulu." A third commented: "That was deffo a friendzone high five for Harry, well done Shakira babes." "I'm glad Shakira didn't play that game Harry tried to draw her into. No, it wouldn't be better if they were still together," a fourth shared. This viewer said: "Catch Harry trying to manipulate that conversation so he could go back to the boys and say 'yeah Shakira still wants me' Have a day off man and leave our girl alone!" This person posted: "So glad Shakira pied off Harry man really trying to keep every door in that villa open." Someone else wrote: "Did Harry really just say if him and Shakira had stayed coupled up they would've had a better boys have lost their minds." Another added: "Harry is so sly, he tried to see if Shakira wanted him. He's clearly bored of Helena already." Harry's apology came after Harrison told the Islanders in the Couple of Sort that Shakira liked Harry more than Conor. Following the game, Conor had a chat with fellow villa lads Harrison, Harry and Dejon. Shakira later told him that her words had been "twisted" and that what Conor had been told by the other boys was "b******s". Conor argued: "They're saying it when they have nothing to gain from it." However, Shakira shot back: "Of course they have things to gain from it. The biggest f*****g game players about. £25 f*****g k." Shakira was previously coupled up with footballer Harry, 30, during their time in the ITV2 show. She met bombshell Ty Isherwood, 23, during Casa Amor and subsequently coupled up with him. 3
