Caoimhin Kelleher's 25-word remark that highlights why Frank exit is bad news
Kelleher was in no hurry to decide on his future. What was clear from a long way off was that he would end his 10-year spell at Liverpool this summer.
But with so many clubs linked with the 26-year-old, he could have taken his time and made his mind up closer to the start of pre-season.
Kelleher's performances across his 20 appearances last season only served to embellish a reputation that had already earned him plenty of admirers and plaudits, and the unwanted tag as the 'best number two' around.
We will never know whether interest from clubs such as Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa would have led to concrete moves.
But as Nottingham Forest's multiple bids last summer for the Boys in Green star show, the summer transfer market can spring plenty of surprises - and the clamour for Kelleher would only have grown the longer the wait for a decision.
But when he spoke for the first time about the move, he revealed how his meeting with Frank and the Brentford coaching staff turned his head.
And one comment in particular points to why the sudden upheaval is an unwanted headache for the 23-time capped star.
'It was interesting to see their point of view on why they wanted to sign me and how they think they can develop my game," said Kelleher, speaking to the club's official website.
He added: 'I came down to meet the manager and some of the coaches. They spoke to me about why they wanted me to be here and showed me around the training ground... It was impressive and I think the club's a really good fit for me.
'I like the way the manager and the coaching staff go about their ways. It seems like a really close, tight knit, family club. They've got a really good track record of improving and developing players which is really what's drawn me to the club.'
Kelleher won't get the chance to work with Frank. Just days after he signed his contract, speculation flooded the media that the highly-regarded coach was on his way to Tottenham. This week, the Dane made the switch.
Kelleher's head must be spinning with the news - but this blow can be softened on the double.
First, the news that Keith Andrews has emerged as the overwhelming favourite to take over from Frank. Andrews was brought into the club by Frank last summer as the set-piece coach.
Andrews had no playing history at the club, but his reputation as a coach - he worked with MK Dons, Sheffield United and, under Stephen Kenny, Ireland - had director of football Phil Giles pursuing him for a while before his arrival.
'He is someone we have known for a while and always had in mind for a role at some point in the future,' said Giles on Andrews' appointment.
Although yet to hold down a number one job, Andrews has done enough over the past year to put himself in the frame to replace Frank - and at least that would give Kelleher the opportunity to work with a familiar face.
Secondly, Brentford can do everything in their power to stop their former boss from returning to his old club on a recruitment drive.
Nathan Collins is one name that has already been linked with a reunion with Frank, but Kelleher, Ireland and Brentford can all benefit from the Leixlip native staying put.
It would be a huge boost to Heimir Hallgrímsson if Kelleher and Collins built on their growing international relationship on a daily basis at club level.
The news of Frank's departure has no doubt tempered some of Kelleher's excitement about his big move. However, his new club can pursue an aggressive course of damage control by taking some firm steps over the coming weeks.

Premier League's 'daft' law and significant addition for 2024-25 season
The upcoming Premier League season is set to kick off soon, and fans can expect some intriguing rule changes accompanying the return of top-flight football. Liverpool and Bournemouth will be the first to take to the pitch this Friday evening, with Anfield ready for the reigning champions' seasonal debut. Arne Slot's Reds, who have splashed out nearly £300million this summer, are expected to put on a strong performance, but last season's dark horses, the Cherries, won't be easy opponents. But it's not just new faces that fans will notice when they tune in for the first top-flight match of the new season. Changes to the game's laws have been implemented. Mirror Football provides a rundown of all the latest rule tweaks ahead of the new campaign, including a 'daft' new goalkeeping law and a significant addition to broadcasting. Goalkeeper time-wasting clamp down The most significant rule change made ahead of the new Premier League season will affect how long goalkeepers are allowed to hold onto the ball. An eight-second restriction on goalkeepers controlling the football with their hands or arms has been introduced, and doing so for any longer will now see them penalised. Referees have been instructed to give shot-stoppers a five-second countdown when controlling the ball. If they have still not released it before the eight-second limit, the opposing team will receive a corner. This new law has been implemented in an effort to cut down on time-wasting and will soon be installed worldwide, not just in the English top flight. Karren Brady, vice-chairman of West Ham, has hit out at the rule, dubbing it a 'daft tinkering.' She wrote for The Sun: "What was wrong with the old rule which gave keepers six seconds to release, with punishment in the form of an indirect free-kick? Beats me. It was hardly ever enforced anyway. "The purpose of this newest change is to cut down on time-wasting but how can extending possession from six to eight seconds do that? And also the fact that the 'old' rule was almost never imposed surely means it was a good rule." Cameras in dressing rooms Another drastic modification has been made to Premier League broadcasting, with access now being provided inside home dressing rooms and players made available to be interviewed at half-time or after being substituted. With Sky Sports showing 215 top-flight matches this season, TV enhancements have been made, and broadcasters will now be given unprecedented access to staff and players. From the new season, both Sky and TNT Sports will be able to gain insight into home dressing rooms, though the club can deny access if they are losing. If the club denies, then they will have to accommodate another request later in the term. The increased access will only occur twice for each club throughout the season, and it will be down to the home side to decide whether audio can be recorded. Broadcasters must give clubs five days' notice if they wish to record inside the dressing room, with a response needed 72 hours before kick-off. Interview access is also set to receive a boost, as players can now be talked to after they have been taken off and at half-time. A request for half-time must be put to the club 24 hours before kick-off, and a shortlist of five names given no later than the 40th minute of a game. Any interviews done before the match has been completed must be 'positive' and in-match interviews with substituted players or managers cannot be done before the 85th minute. No more than two questions will be asked during these interviews. Captains only As per a guideline approved by law-makers, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), only the club's captains can approach the referee during a match. Yellow cards can be handed out to players who do not have permission to speak to the match official, as referees clamp down on disrespectful players. If the captain is a goalkeeper, a different outfield player can be nominated to speak with the official. New penalty rule Those who tuned into the Lionesses' triumphant Euro 2025 victory over Spain will be familiar with a new rule introduced regarding penalties. England's Beth Mead was allowed to re-take her opening spot kick after she accidentally touched the ball twice, and this rule will be introduced across the board from this campaign. Interfering with play Another new law will penalise a team if a player who is not currently on the pitch, a substitute or a coach touches the ball before it goes out of play. If this occurs, the opposition team will be given an indirect free kick. This also applies to players who have been sent off and other team officials. Liverpool stars withdraws from squad hours before Premier League opener
Ben Doak won't be taking to the pitch for Liverpool tonight as he's on the brink of a transfer to their opponents, Bournemouth. The two teams are set to clash in the inaugural Premier League match of the season at Anfield. Bournemouth is nearing a £25million agreement for the Scottish international, having outmanoeuvred Porto and Stuttgart. Doak, 19, is eager to stay in the Premier League after spending the previous season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough. Liverpool shelled out £600,000 to secure the promising youngster from Celtic in 2022, with high expectations under Jurgen Klopp. However, injuries and the calibre of players ahead of him have hindered his progress, and he will now pursue regular first-team football on the south coast. Ben Doak is set to leave Liverpool (Image: Robbie Jay Barratt - AMA/Getty Images) The deal could trigger a chain reaction of deals with Bournemouth's Dango Ouattara poised to join Brentford for up to £42.5m. That could then see the Bees part ways with Yoane Wissa who has not been training with the club as he looks to join Newcastle. Unfortunately for Liverpool, Wissa is not seen as a replacement for Alexander Isak by the Magpies. The Reds saw a bid knocked back for the Sweden forward who continues to train separately from Newcastle's first team. Speaking in his press conference ahead of Newcastle 's Premier League opener against Aston Villa, Eddie Howe suggested there had been no progress in any direction over the 25-year-old's future. "Alex's situation has been unchanged for a while, and that will continue to be the case," he said. That did not prevent a barrage of questions however. "I've had a great relationship with Alex," he said. "You need that with every player. I take my part in that relationship really importantly. I have to work really closely with the player to his benefit." Asked if a fresh bid had been placed for Isak, Howe responded: "No, there has been no change, all my focus has been on training and Villa and the transfer front." Asked if the star forward could remain at St James' Park beyond the transfer deadline, he said: "At the moment I would say yes but I've had no change of feeling throughout the summer. He's contracted to us but it's out of my hands."

Rio Ferdinand makes five U-turns during Premier League prediction
Rio Ferdinand, the Manchester United legend, has tipped Liverpool to retain their Premier League title this season, despite admitting to a few blunders in his predictions. The Premier League is set to return after a three-month hiatus on Friday evening, with reigning champions Liverpool hosting Bournemouth at Anfield. Arne Slot's team will be aiming for a strong start following their dominant title win last season, while Andoni Iraola's Cherries will be hoping to cause an upset after narrowly missing out on European competition. Liverpool are the favourites to win consecutive titles, and that's exactly what Ferdinand believes they'll do. He predicts Arsenal will finish second, followed by Manchester City and Chelsea completing the top four. At the other end of the table he has the three promoted sides - Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland all dropping. But in between that, the selections get a little funky. Ferdinand took to TikTok ahead of the new season to forecast where every side would finish, and did so using a filter that randomly selected a team. He would then place sides on a blank table continuously until complete, leaving room for some blunders. In total, the former England defender ended up immediately changing his mind on five different teams - incorrectly putting Tottenham ahead of Newcastle in fifth and placing Crystal Palace, Brighton and Aston Villa both in the lower half of the table. "[Wolves] I'm gonna go 16th. [Nottingham] Forest, because they're in Europe, I'm gonna put them down a little bit this season...I'm gonna go ninth. Everton, I'll go middle of the road somewhere, 13th," began Ferdinand. "Fulham 10th. Arsenal, No. 2. Burnley just down [18th]. Chelsea fourth and Man City, I'm gonna go third, still on a hangover. I'm gonna go eighth for West Ham. Arne Slot won the Premier League in his first season as Liverpool manager (Image: Getty) "Newcastle, now I'm gonna go sixth. Man United seventh, but could be sixth United. Brentford, 17th, lost some good players, man, lost their manager too." Ferdinand then realised he made an error when choosing his final league table through the randomised format, as he declared: "What am I thinking, Brighton should be eighth, but got to go 11th now. "Liverpool, first, they're gonna win it, unfortunately. Bournemouth 12th. Sunderland, bottom [20th], down. Oh, Spurs, Spurs aren't finishing fifth. Got to put them fifth, but Newcastle should be above Spurs. "Oh, [Aston] Villa! Another one I've missed. Villa are 14th," he laughed, suggesting he should have put them much higher. "[Crystal] Palace are 15th as well. Leeds, my old team, is 19th, unfortunately. "I want Leeds to stay up, but I don't think they're capable. All three teams that have come up will go down. I've messed up. You know who I'm confident is gonna finish higher than I've said here. "Palace will finish higher than 15th. Villa will 100 percent finish higher than fourth and Brighton will finish higher than 11th. All the others are around about where they should be, Spurs are too high actually."
