Will Ampang remain a safe PKR seat after turncoat-natured Tengku Zafrul's parachuting
This follows a confirmation by PKR secretary-general Datuk Fuziah Salleh that the party's Central Leadership Council has approved the application of the former UMNO supreme council member in a meeting on July 26.
For the record, Tengku Zafrul whose second and final senatorship term is expiring on Dec 2 'desperately' needs to win a parliamentary level election lest he will have to step down from his current Cabinet portfolio.
'Why Ampang? Why not Tanjung Karang, Sabak Bernam or Putrajaya? There're also Lembah Pantai and Bandar Tun Razak. Why? Muahahahaha….' reacted environmentalist MokcikMagic (@KlutzyKucing) to Tengku Zafrul's joining the Ampang PKR division.
Kenapa Ampang??
Kenapa tidak Tanjung Karang, Sabak Bernam atau Putrajaya? Lembah Pantai & Bandar Tun Razak pun ada.
Kenapa?

In a nutshell, Ampang (formerly Ampang Jaya) which state constituencies comprised Bukit Antarabangsa and Lembah Jaya has been deemed a Pakatan Harapan (PH) stronghold with incumbent MP Rodziah having retained the seat after its three-term MP Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin 'jumped ship' to Bersatu following the Sheraton Move incident.
What is obvious from a strategic stand-point is that Ampang is deemed a 'safe seat' for PKR while Tengku Zafrul is seen as a potential MP candidate to replace Rodziah come the 16th General Election (GE16).
Moreover, some PKR insiders also perceived the move as a 'cleansing exercise' of former economy minister Rafizi's Team Hiruk with a pro-Team Damai candidate aligned to reigning deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Many political observers also hit out at Tengku Zafrul's turncoat tendencies with one regarding him as both a 'survivor' for having outlived PM8 Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and PM9 Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, hence qualifying him as 'a PM in the making that can't even win a seat, always need backdoor help'.
Another berated Tengku Zafrul for having no principle with his obvious portrayal of opportunist behaviour while one foresees 'the eventual destruction of PKR from the inside'.
Sone seemingly Rafizi backers reckoned that Ampang 'would cease to be a PKR stronghold' with Tengku Zafrul having parachuted there with one commenter suggested 'passing him the PAS application form given the moment PKR loses, he may need a new party'.
Truth seeker FreeMalaysian (@FreeMsian) reminded Ampang voters that they have one task in hand come GE16 which is 'to vote anyone other than Tengku Zafrul' as he alluded to 'numerous scandals when he was the key in the previous (backdoor) government'.
'Instead of being investigated, Anwar (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) rewarded him with a cabinet post,' lamented FreeMalaysian.
Ampang voters. You have one task. That is to vote anyone other than Tengku Zafrul. https://t.co/7NgoRNIZu0

In light of Tengku Zafrul's 'historical' loss under the UMNO-Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket for the Kuala Selangor parliamentary seat in GE15 (to current Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad), some cheeky commenters wondered why not he is parachuted to PMX's deemed fortress of Permatang Pauh. – Aug 12, 2025

Bung to testify in graft case on Monday
Bung Moktar Radin and Zizie Izette Abdul Samad were ordered to enter their defence last November on charges of corruption and abetment over a RM150 million Felcra investment. KUALA LUMPUR : Bung Moktar Radin, who was ordered to enter his defence on charges of corruption over a RM150 million Felcra investment almost three years ago, is expected to take the witness stand at the sessions court on Monday. M Athimulan, the lawyer for the Kinabatangan MP and Sabah Umno chief, confirmed the matter. 'Yes, the defence will begin their case on Monday,' he told FMT in a text message. The trial, to be presided over by sessions court judge Rosli Ahmad, is also fixed for Tuesday and Wednesday. On Sept 2, 2022, then sessions court judge Rozina Ayob ordered Bung and his wife, Zizie Izette Abdul Samad, to enter their defence after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against them. Zizie is charged with abetting her husband. The High Court acquitted them of the charges following a revision application after it ruled that Rozina had erred in calling them to answer the charges. Last year, the Court of Appeal allowed the prosecution's appeal to order the couple to enter the defence, saying that the revision application was premature. Three months ago, Bung and Zizie failed to set aside the appellate court's decision. Bung, the non-executive chairman of Felcra at the time, was charged with two counts of receiving bribes of RM2.2 million and RM262,500 as an inducement to obtain Felcra's approval to invest RM150 million in Public Mutual unit trusts. He is alleged to have accepted bribes from Norhaili Madhi, a Public Mutual investment agent, through Zizie. He was also charged with receiving a bribe of RM337,500 from Norhaili under Zizie's name at the same location on June 19, 2015. Zizie faces three charges of abetting Bung in the commission of the alleged offences. Lawyer K Kumaraendran is appearing for Zizie, while deputy public prosecutors Law Chin How and Fadhly Zamry are representing the prosecution.

Sabah State Election seen as Umno's battle for survival
The election results will serve as a clear indicator of the party's prospects in the 16th General Election (GE16). Sabah Umno Information Chief Suhaimi Nasir called the upcoming Sabah State Election a do-or-die battle for the party's survival. SHAH ALAM – Sabah Umno Information Chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir has described the upcoming Sabah state election as a do-or-die fight for the party's political survival. Speaking to Free Malaysia Today at Parliament earlier today, the Libaran Member of Parliament (MP) admitted a major challenge lies ahead as the party strives to reclaim its pre-14th General Election (GE14) dominance. Suhaimi Nasir. Photo SINAR HARIAN/MOHD HALIM ABDUL WAHID He believes the election results will serve as a clear indicator of the party's prospects in the 16th General Election (GE16). 'I see that is what will happen (Umno's survival for GE16), but if we win this state election and form the government, we are confident of securing at least 12 parliamentary seats,' Suhaimi said. Sabah currently accounts for seven of the 30 parliamentary seats Barisan Nasional (BN) won in the 2022 GE. Suhaimi pointed to Beluran, Batu Sapi and Kota Belud as constituencies BN could recapture with a decisive victory. 'In Kota Belud, for example, the people see the incumbent (Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis from Warisan) has served two terms and the people do not want to remain in the opposition,' he said. BN is expected to contest 38 state seats, with 90 per cent of its candidates already confirmed. Last month, political analyst Bilcher Bala suggested that Sabah Umno is in its weakest position ahead of the election due to internal disagreements between state party chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and his deputy Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan. Abdul Rahman has previously said the party's decision to leave the state government in January 2023 was a major error. He said the move weakened its influence and made it harder to protect the people's interests, leading to the loss of four ministerial posts, six assistant minister positions and over 2,000 grassroots roles formerly held by Umno leaders. Bung has since urged his deputy to stop revisiting past issues, stating that the withdrawal of support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was a collective decision by the state Umno leadership, not his alone.
