In a news release, AirAsia said its 'Fiesta promo' seat sale can be booked from June 2 to 15, 2025, for travel between June 2 and November 30, 2025.
Featured destinations include Bacolod, Kalibo, Iloilo, Tacloban, Puerto Princesa, Caticlan, and Cagayan de Oro, along with other top local stops.
AirAsia said it has been proactively supporting local festivities through the AirAsia Fiesta Series, offering promo fares to encourage travel and cultural immersion.
This month, the airline is putting the spotlight on Tacloban City, in time for its local festivities, with base fares for as low as P538.
'Part of AirAsia DNA is all about giving great opportunities to travel. After Kalibo and Caticlan (Boracay), this month we're putting the spotlight on Tacloban with special sale fares, one of our key destinations, not only because of its local festivities but also because it holds a special place in the hearts of many balikbayans and Filipinos to reconnect with home in Eastern Visayas,' said AirAsia Philippines head of communications and corporate affairs Steve Dailisan.
In the first half of 2025, AirAsia said it had launched 11 double-digit promos, including a PISO sale that 'supported travel for domestic and international routes, ensuring the destination's inclusion in key seat sales and special offers.' —VBL, GMA Integrated News

US cuts visa categories eligible for interview waiver as new rule starts Sept. 2
The United States has reduced the number of visa categories qualified under its interview waiver program, its embassy in Manila said Thursday. "Starting September 2, most visa categories will no longer qualify for an interview waiver—except B1/B2 (business/tourism) and official visas," the US Embassy said in a statement. In-person interviews will now be required for non-immigrant applicants under 14 and over 79 years old, it added. The embassy urged Filipino visa applicants, whose visas are no longer eligible for an interview waiver, to mail or drop off their application at its offsite Visa Application Center by August 22. "This ensures the US embassy has enough time to process your application before the new policy takes effect," it said. The interview waiver program allows many qualified visa applicants to renew visas, particularly those who were issued multiple-entry tourist and business visas, without an in-person interview at the embassy. Visa renewal applicants need not come to the US Embassy for an interview if: • The visa you are renewing is the same visa category as the previous visa. • Your previous visa is still valid or has been expired for less than 12 months, and you have not been refused a US visa since your previous visa was issued. • You are a citizen or resident of the Philippines and you are in the Philippines when you apply. • Your previous visa was not annotated 'Clearance Received' or 'Waiver Granted.' • Your previous visa was issued after you reached 14 years of age. Your name, date of birth, and nationality in your current passport match those in your previous visa. If there is a name change due to marriage or annulment, I can provide documentation. ** • You have never been arrested in the Philippines, the United States, or any other country, even if subject to a pardon. • You have not requested an extension or change of status through USCIS. • You are renewing one of the following types of visas: B1/B2, C1/D, F, M, or J. –VBL, GMA Integrated News

PEZA, AstraZeneca partner to boost pharma investments in PH
The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals (Phils.) Inc. have formed a partnership to boost the country's position as a destination for pharmaceutical and healthcare investments. In a news release on Thursday, PEZA said its Director General Tereso Panga and AstraZeneca Philippines country president Lotis Ramin signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on August 19. Under the MOU, PEZA and AstraZeneca agreed to further enhance the country's investment promotion initiatives, making the Philippines a priority destination for healthcare-related investments. In particular, AstraZeneca Philippines will help attract both local and foreign investors by facilitating business forums, investment briefings, B2B matchmaking sessions, and international delegations. PEZA will help AstraZeneca Philippines in identifying viable locations for its healthcare projects within ecozones, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, and linking the company with support industries and potential joint venture partners. Both parties agreed to position the Philippines as an ASEAN hub for health-related production, distribution, and research and development collaboration. Moreover, the accord will push for the establishment of AstraZeneca's Multi-Stakeholder Health Innovation Hub in the Philippines—the first of its kind in the PEZA ecozone network. PEZA said the hub is seen to position the country as a regional center for digital health technology, research and development collaboration, and patient-centered healthcare solutions. The investment promotion agency said the first project under the Innovation Hub will be an Oncology Innovation Center, which will harness artificial intelligence for early cancer detection, expand patient-support systems, build healthcare workforce capacity, and promote evidence-based policy development. AstraZeneca plans to model the hub after its prestigious pharma hub in the United Kingdom. 'We want to attract more companies that are into development, manufacturing, and research in the medical field in order to create a value chain that will lead to the lowering of the cost of medicines for Filipinos,' said Panga. AstraZeneca will invest over P7 billion in the Philippines from 2026 to 2028, Ramin said. 'This includes the vision of the country's first-ever multi-stakeholder health innovation hub in partnership with PEZA, signaling our long-term commitment to shape better health outcomes through collaboration in science,' she said. –VBL, GMA Integrated News

Cebu Pacific to mount A330neo flights to Iloilo, Bohol, Puerto Princesa starting Q4
Budget carrier Cebu Pacific will mount flights to more local destinations utilizing its Airbus A330neo aircraft starting in the fourth quarter. According to Cebu Pacific, it will operate flights between Manila and Iloilo seven times weekly starting October 26, Manila and Puerto Princesa four times weekly starting November 2, and Manila and Bohol seven times weekly starting November 16. In July, Cebu Pacific became the first local carrier to operate a 100-strong fleet after the delivery of its latest A330neo, which has 459 seats. This is said to be the latest-generation aircraft that can burn up to 25% less fuel per flight and produce less noise. 'We're excited to expand our A330neo operations to more Philippine destinations, as this allows us more seats, lower fares, and an even more comfortable travel experience for our passengers,' Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao said in an emailed statement on Thursday. 'By increasing capacity to key domestic routes, we not only make travel more accessible but also help drive tourism and stimulate economic activity, creating opportunities for local communities and further supporting the growth of Philippine tourism,' he added. –VBL, GMA Integrated News
