Ballet flats are back in vogue: Experts share cool tips to style them

Image for representative purposes only The classic ballet flats with round toes and delicate bows — dainty, flexible, and easy to slip on — are making a major comeback. This time, however, they come with an elevated style quotient. Nishtha Parwani, a celebrity stylist, tells us, 'Ballet flats have reigned through fashion history since the 1950s, gracing the soles of icons like Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel, and Kate Moss.' This footwear is now back in vogue. Pooja Karanam, a celebrity fashion stylist, tells us why: 'Their revival is because of fashion's ongoing obsession with Y2K, early-aughts nostalgia (the period from 2000 to 2009), and the need for chic shoes that don't kill your feet.' A BRIEF HISTORY Ballet flats originated from the soft, flexible slippers worn by ballet dancers. In the 1940s, French designer Rose Repetto adapted the traditional ballet shoes into streetwear, creating flats for her son, dancer Roland Petit. This marked the beginning of the ballet flats as a fashion item. Actresses like Brigitte Bardot helped popularise the style when she wore Repetto's 'Cendrillon' flats in And God Created Woman (1956). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Audrey Hepburn, a trained dancer herself, made ballet flats part of her iconic look in films like Funny Face. Vikram Seth, fashion stylist and creative director, says, 'Square toes, strappy silhouettes, and woven textures dominated the recent runways of 2025 shows through brands like Chanel, Miu Miu, and Simone Rocha.' Sandy Liang and Prada were also among the brands that featured ballets. Their strong presence on the runways drove celebrities too, to wear it. Gigi Hadid , Aimee Lou Wood , Alexa Chung, Sonam Kapoor , Ananya Panday, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Anushka Sharma are among the celebrities who were spotted wearing the shoes. Ballet flats are the perfect summer staple. They're lightweight, breathable and comfortable. Whether in breezy mesh, soft leather, or pastel satin, ballets add the right amount of polish without weighing you down. Katy Perry battles career stress; Is the pressure taking a toll on her relationship with her husband Orlando Bloom? Here's what we know

Katy Perry , the singer who went to space for 11 minutes, was stressed about her 143 album and The Lifetimes Tour. However, the tension then shifted towards her husband, Orlando Bloom , causing a strain in the relationship. A strain between Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom According to People magazine, the '143' album, which was released in September, did not get the reception she was expecting, and The Lifetimes Tour's initial reviews were not good, causing Perry to get bothered and nervous about the music. 'Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album. It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension,' the source said, before adding, 'She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It's put stress on their relationship." The reviews on '143' and 'The Lifetimes Tour' While the initial reviews were not up to the mark that Perry was expecting, it has not affected the international tour at all. The concert shows in Australia are completely sold out, in addition to the three nights in Mexico. In February, the 'Dark Horse' singer became candid about the negative criticism she has been getting throughout the years. 'You shouldn't read it when it's good. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This is The Cost Of Cat 5 Hurricane Windows in Ocala. Furthermore, Katy stated that creating the album was different this time, as she channelled her feminine energy after becoming a mother. 'I really tapped into that feminine divine energy. The messages on it are celebratory. They're about love,' she added. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have been together for almost a decade. They got engaged in 2019 and then welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove in 2020.

When Mohanlal lost his cool; Slapped someone for insulting a Malayalam superstar

Mohanlal, the legendary actor known for his calm and collected public persona, once made headlines for an incident that starkly contrasted his usually zen-like demeanor. In a rare throwback revelation, the 'Lucifer' star admitted to slapping someone—not out of rage, but as a reflex to a situation that tested his patience beyond limit. In an old interview with Kairali TV, Mohanlal spoke about the incident that led him to take an uncharacteristically aggressive step. Without naming names, he recalled, 'You hit someone only when you have no other option, right? Even now, if such a situation arises, I will do the same. It's a reflex action, isn't it? He continuously ridiculed this certain star for two to three hours.' The actor went on to say, 'Everything has a pinnacle and a zenith, right? You can't go beyond that. At that time, I did it. Even now, that will probably be my reaction if a similar situation arises.' While Mohanlal did not mention who the insult was directed at, it is widely believed that the person being defended was none other than Prem Nazir —the late legend fondly remembered as the 'Evergreen Hero' of Malayalam cinema. Prem Nazir wasn't just an icon; he was someone who played a pivotal role in Mohanlal's early career. The two have shared screen space in several iconic films such as Lal Americayil, Aattakalasam, Sanchari, Padayottam, and Attimari. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Despite being known for his grace under pressure, this moment revealed Mohanlal's unwavering loyalty and deep respect for the legends who shaped Malayalam cinema. On the work front, Mohanlal was last seen in 'Thudarum', a gripping revenge drama that premiered on JioCinema. Up next, he'll star in 'Hridayapoorvam', a feel-good film directed by Sathyan Anthikad and co-starring Malavika Mohanan . He also has a packed slate ahead with films like 'Vrusshabha', 'MMMN', 'Ram', and cameo appearances in 'Kannappa' and possibly 'Bha Bha Ba'.
