New Ration Cards: Civil Supplies dept receives more than 28L applications
The State Civil Supplies Department has received a total 28,27,264 new ration card applications by July 14. According to the RTI reply to Kareem Ansari, a total of 3,69,095 ration cards have been approved, while 16,391 applications were rejected during the same period. It also revealed that between January and July 14, a total of 19,57,105 ration card applications were received through the Praja Palana programme. Additionally, 8,70,159 applications were submitted via Mee Seva centres. The total number of applications crossed 28 lakh till now.
The State government officially started distributing new ration cards on July 14. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched the initiative during a public meeting held in Tungaturthi, Suryapet district. This is part of the government's efforts to expand the Public Distribution System (PDS) and ensure food security for more low-income families.
The Chief Minister said that lakhs families were recently allowed to apply for new ration cards. With this move, the total number of families getting PDS entitlements through ration cards in Telangana has grown from 2.8 crore to 3.1 crore. These cards help eligible families get subsidized rice, grains, and other essentials through fair price shops across the state.
Officials said the distribution process will be transparent and fair, and that the government wants to make sure no deserving family is left out. People who receive these new ration cards will get access to better-quality rice and more consistent support under the updated food security program. The government is also working to improve the delivery system and reduce waste.

‘Ungaludan Stalin' in Pallavaram sees huge turnout
CHENNAI: Over hundreds of residents from wards 16 and 17 of the Pallavaram zone turned up at the Ungaludan Stalin grievance redressal camp organised by the Tambaram City Municipal Corporation (TCMC) on Saturday. The camp, inaugurated by Pallavaram MLA I Karunanidhi in the presence of TCMC Mayor Vasanthakumari Kamalakannan, aimed at addressing public grievances through direct engagement with civic officials. According to to the corporation officials, over 8,000 application forms were distributed in advance to households across the two wards, and nearly 65% of residents visited the camp to submit petitions. A majority of the grievances were related to the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, old-age pension, Public Distribution System (PDS) cards, and Aadhar-related corrections. Speaking to TNIE, Pallavaram Zonal Chairperson I Joseph Annadurai said that five such camps have been planned across the zone to ensure grievance redressal for all residents. 'This is the first in the series. Four more camps will be held in localities such as Keezhakattalai, Jameen Pallavaram, and other areas over the coming weeks,' he added. To ensure the smooth conduct of the camp, more than 100 TCMC staff were deployed to handle the large turnout and streamline the grievance registration process.

HYDERABAD: Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday said that the Centre would not show any favouritism towards Andhra Pradesh at the expense of Telangana, or vice versa. He mentioned that the MMTS is being expanded till Yadagirigutta. The initial cost for the MMTS extension to Yadagirigutta was estimated at ₹330 crore, but the budget may increase. Additionally, he recalled that a new railway station at the Komuravelli Mallanna pilgrimage site was inaugurated by the CM of Madhya Pradesh, and that work on the station is nearly complete.
