OKANA's outdoor waterpark is now open to the public: Things to do, how to buy a day pass

It's been three months since Oklahoma City's newest attraction opened its doors, and another portion is ready to debut to the public. The outdoor portion of the OKANA Resort and Indoor Waterpark, known as OKANA Beach, is opening to day-pass visitors Saturday, May 24. The outdoor waterpark has been open to resort guests since May 17. 'The community response has been incredible since we opened our doors,' said Ken Leone, managing director of OKANA. 'We're seeing families drive in from across the region because there truly isn't anything like OKANA in Oklahoma or the surrounding states … The enthusiasm from locals has been particularly rewarding, as they're seeing their hometown become a premier tourist destination." From a white sand beach to water slides, an adults-only tanning pool to an inflatable obstacle course, there's something for everyone at OKANA Beach. Here's everything you need to know about how to visit and what to expect. OKANA Beach, the outdoor waterpark featured at OKANA, opens to day-pass holders on Saturday, May 24. It will also kick off Saturdays at the Lagoon, a series of events every Saturday from June to August featuring rotating themes, live music, interactive games and curated culinary offerings. The waterpark will remain open through Labor Day. There are a range of ways to keep the entire family occupied at this outdoor waterpark, including a white sand beach, 36 private cabanas and more: The Drop-off: Two water slides twist and turn before dropping off into a deep water pool. Bounce Bay: Jump, climb and splash through this overwater obstacle course. Summit Splash: Get the thrill of a cliff dive by plunging from a platform into the water below. The Lagoon: Enter the fourth-largest pool in the nation from the white sand beach. Zip & Dip: Glide across a zipline before jumping into the water. Cabana Cove: A shallow, adults-only tanning pool exclusively for those 21 and over. Hungry and thirsty from all the fun? Sam's Club to remodel stores in Oklahoma, US as part of 'register-free' move: What to know

Sam's Club is remodeling each of its 600 locations, including all 13 stores in Oklahoma, with a focus on both physical and digital expansions. CEO Chris Nicholas said during Walmart Inc.'s 2025 Investment Community Meeting on April 9 that the company is emphasizing a strategy based on improving membership numbers and expanding physical and digital capabilities. 'This is one of the fastest, most scalable transformations happening in retail today,' said Nicholas in a news release on April 11. 'We're investing with intention — in our fleet, our associates and the member experience — to become the world's best club retailer.' Renovations are set to begin soon, but there is no information available on whether the stores will need to be closed during the process. Check with your local Sam's Club to see if your store will close during renovations. Here's what remodels will do to Oklahoma's 13 locations. The remodeled Sam's Club stores will follow the model of a store that reopened in Grapevine, Texas in late 2024 after it was damaged in an EF-1 tornado in December 2022. After "extensive renovations," the location introduced the company's transition to a "register-free shopping experience." "High-top tables near the showroom and entrance are staffed by member specialists ready to assist anyone new to Scan & Go," the company said in news release in December 2024, adding that the register-free experience was "met with enthusiasm, with the majority of members preferring the streamlined system in its first week." With the new design, customers can explore online exclusives, use Scan & Go to add items to their cart, and ship purchases directly to their doorsteps. All of Sam's Club's locations nationwide will be remodeled, which includes 13 locations in Oklahoma: 1117 W. Tulip Festival blooms with color at Wilson's Orchard

CUMMING, Iowa — A true sign of spring is when tulips are in full bloom, and Wilson's Orchard and Farm in Cumming is celebrating the season with its annual Tulip Festival. The festival kicked off this weekend with hundreds enjoying the spring-like weather in the fields of colorful tulips. Guests can visit the tulip field and even pick their own tulips. New this year is a Bouquet Bar inside the Farm Market, where pre-made bouquets are also available or guests can make their own bouquet from scratch at the bar. 'It's such a great feeling because you spend the winter all hunkered in and it's cold and you don't want to go outside, and then you get a chance to go outside and the weather is nice, tulips are blooming, and everything is great in life again,' said Paul Rasch, the owner of Wilson's Orchard and Farm. The Tulip Festival comes at an exciting time for Wilson's Orchard, because they recently opened the Play Barn. Rasch said the play barn was originally in Greenfield, Iowa. Before the devastating tornado ripped through town last year, his team was able to deconstruct the barn, and has now reconstructed it on their farm. In a Facebook post announcing the opening of the Play Barn, Wilson's Orchard wrote, 'By reusing and recycling this material, we're not only preserving our Midwestern heritage but also contributing to a greener future. Incorporating reclaimed barn wood into our structures helps protect Iowa's rural landscape and reduce waste.' The Play Barn is a three-story playground featuring climbing walls, a corn crib, and a 60-foot fast slide for children ages 3 to 16. Aside from tulips blooming, Rasch said their orchard is also in full bloom. This is a fleeting annual event that lasts around three days, triggered by the end of winter dormancy. Rasch said it's rare for apples and tulips to be in bloom at the same time. Guests are welcome to hike down the two mile stretch to the orchard to see the 15-acres of apple tress in bloom. Farm admission costs $5, which will allow guests to stroll through the tulip fields. To pick a dozen tulips there's an additional $18 charge. Pre-made bouquets without tulips cost $15 at the Bouquet Bar. Guests who choose to make their own bouquet at the bar can expect each flower to be priced per stem. The Play Barn admission costs $6. Wilson's Orchard and Farm is open 10 a.m. through 9 p.m. on weekends and 11 a.m. through 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursday, and Fridays. They're located at 3201 15th Avenue in Cumming.
