New episode of 'Behind The Grind' shows how special the Rams' trip to Maui really was

USA Today2 days ago
The Los Angeles Rams rarely take the unconventional route, whether it's their unique draft HQ locations or the way they build their roster each year. They really went off-script of a typical offseason this year when they moved minicamp from L.A. to Maui.
It allowed the entire team to get away for a few days and spend some time together, making the trip more about bonding and community efforts than football. Based on the latest episode of 'Behind The Grind', it's safe to say they accomplished what they set out to do.
The video features highlights from the O-line boating trip, led by the unflappable Kevin Dotson, as well as a rebuilding event with Habitat For Humanity. The video is capped off by the team hitting the golf course, which is where players' personalities really came out.
Even the typically stoic Joshua Karty was having a blast, celebrating a long putt by flapping his imaginary wings.

Rams' 25 most important players for 2025 – No. 2: WR Puka Nacua

Puka Nacua's ascent to stardom was rapid – as fast as any player in recent memory for someone drafted as late as he was. He went from being a fifth-round rookie who was hardly a lock to make the 53-man roster when camp began to nearly winning Offensive Rookie of the Year and becoming one of the most popular players in football. He's well past just being popular now after a terrific second season. He's undeniably a top-tier player regardless of position, a legitimate candidate to compete for Offensive Player of the Year. His value to the Los Angeles Rams is huge, both as a receiver and a blocker in the run game. With Cooper Kupp gone, Nacua's importance to the team is even higher. He ranks No. 2 on our list of the team's 25 most important players entering the 2025 season. How he got here Nacua was a relatively unknown player to most in 2023 when the Rams selected him with the 177th overall pick in the fifth round. The BYU product was injured often in college and didn't test particularly well before the draft, causing his stock to slip. 2024 stats 11 games (11 starts): 106 targets, 79 catches, 990 yards, 3 touchdowns, 11 carries, 46 yards, 1 touchdown Projected role Kupp is out of the picture, which naturally elevates Nacua's opportunities a little bit. However, the signing of Davante Adams prevents Nacua from being the overwhelming favorite to be the go-to receiver. Both Nacua and Adams will both see a ton of targets from Matthew Stafford, especially considering they're different types of receivers. Nacua will play in the slot often and also line up wide to the right, while Adams' best spot might be as an X-receiver to the left side of the field where he'll be isolated against a cornerback. Why he's important Nacua missed five of the first six games last season and in those games, the Rams were 2-3. They also lost the opener against the Lions in a game where Nacua left in the second quarter with a knee injury. It's no coincidence that the Rams went 8-2 in the other 10 games, showing just how valuable he is to the team. If not for his five-game injury absence, he might've led the NFL in receiving yards; he was third in yards per game, averaging 90.0 in his second season, trailing only Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. The Rams don't have a receiver who can do the things that he can, from catching drag routes and turning them into big gains to blocking on the edge to running fades down the sideline. He improved in a big way last season despite his numbers declining, displaying more reliable hands, better route running and footwork, too. Los Angeles' offense is just different when he's on the field. Follow Rams Wire on X, Facebook and Threads for more coverage!

PDX carpet reimagined: Habitat for Humanity sells authentic airport squares

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – No other airport carpet has achieved such internet fame as Portland's. The distinctly 1980s-style turquoise print has inspired shoes, socks, blankets and at least one tattoo. It even served as grand marshal for the Rose Festival's Starlight Parade in 2015. If you've ever wondered how you can get your hands on an authentic piece of the decades-old wool tapestry, you're in luck. Habitat for Humanity's Portland Region ReStores is offering squares of the original PDX carpet for sale. They were selected by the airport, among others, to receive the carpet after it was removed in 2015. The goal was to find sustainable ways to reuse it, to help keep it out of landfills. ReStore offers the carpet in unframed 12-by-13-inch squares for $70, though custom sizes are also available while supplies last. According to the ReStore , the geometric design was meant to represent a birds-eye view of the north and south runways of the PDX airport, as seen from the control tower. LA Rams Star Has Message for Eagles' Saquon Barkley

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Not many teams could slow down the Philadelphia Eagles' run game in 2024. Saquon Barkley was simply unstoppable for most of the year. The Los Angeles Rams found out firsthand not once, but twice. After the second meeting, which occurred during the Divisional Round in the 2024 NFL Playoffs, the Rams are extremely motivated to get another shot at the Eagles early on during the 2025 NFL season. The former third-round pick, Kobie Turner, recently revealed that the matchup against the Eagles is currently circled on the Rams' calendar for next season. It's not even training camp, and the Rams' defensive front is already placing focus on Barkley and the Eagles. "We're always training. I've had that loss in the back of my mind for a while," Turner told NFL Network. From The Insiders on @nflnetwork: As the #Eagles get their rings, #Rams DL Kobie Turner tips his cap. But of the Week 3 rematch: 'Man, we definitely have that game circled. I have that game circled. And I'm super excited to get another crack at those guys.' — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) July 19, 2025 "I definitely have, I believe it is Week 3, circled. Even in the individual training right now, we're breaking down, 'Ok, this is how some of the guys, some of the offensive linemen for the Eagles, this is how they block, and this is how we're going to defeat that.' Ultimately, the thing that really got us last year is that there are a couple of big runs." Barkley is a home-run hitter. Once he got behind the Eagles' offensive line, which has been regarded as one of the best for years, the veteran running back hit an entirely different level. The Rams fell victim to quite a few home runs against the superstar rusher. Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles celebrates after a touchdown during the third quarter against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on November 24, 2024 in Inglewood, California. Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles celebrates after a touchdown during the third quarter against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on November 24, 2024 in Inglewood, their regular-season battle back in November, Barkley broke off a 70-yard touchdown run during the third quarter. He went for a 72-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter as well, to put the game way further out of reach. Barkley finished with 255 yards on 26 carries in the 37-20 Eagles victory. When the Rams and the Eagles met in the playoffs, Barkley followed up a 44-yard Jalen Hurts touchdown run with a 62-yarder for himself in the first quarter. Later in the game, Barkley had one of his most impactful runs of the year. Dashing through the snow, Barkley busted out a 78-yard touchdown to nearly ice the game. While the Eagles certainly allowed for the Rams to make it interesting, Philly ultimately won and advanced. Barkley finished with another 205 yards on 26 carries. "We stopped the run for the most part and handled it really well, but a couple of those runs where Saquon is able to get to the second level fast and he's super dangerous there," Turner added. "At the end of the day, it's about getting Saquon down, and that's what we're going to do a lot better of this year, making sure we stop the run. You guys saw what happened when it gets to third and long situations—second and long situations—guys come to life." Being the Super Bowl Champions, the Eagles made a lot of enemies in 2024. Since the Eagles defeated the Rams twice, it doesn't come as a surprise that Turner and the Rams can't wait to wipe the slate clean and go for revenge. "I'm just super excited to be able to run that back. Obviously, those guys are Super Bowl champs. They won it, and they deserve it, and whatnot, but this year is a new year," he finished. "Man, we definitely have that game circled. I definitely have that game circled, and I'm super excited to get another crack at those guys The Eagles and the Rams will meet in Philadelphia on September 21.
