Between the Bridges Healing Center Offering Groundbreaking Technology Using Brain Stimulation to Treat Mental Health Issues
MANKATO, Minn., May 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Individuals suffering from depression, stress or mental fog can now find medication-free relief at Between the Bridges Healing Center in Mankato. Between the Bridges Healing Center, an advanced wellness facility focusing on everything from integrative healthcare to regenerative medicine, is offering EXOMIND, a noninvasive brain stimulation treatment resulting in enhanced mental health and emotional wellness.
'These days, you would be hard pressed to find someone not contending with some degree of anxiety, depression or a loss of control,' says Jeffrey Kotulski, DO, founder of Between the Bridges Healing Center and triple board-certified physician who focuses on preventative medicine and a 'whole-body' approach to treatment. 'We have seen amazing improvement in patients who struggle with anxiety and severe mental health issues after using EXOMIND.'
Between the Bridges Healing Center offers an extensive range of cutting-edge procedures that help with fat burning, muscle building, incontinence, aesthetics, and overall health.
With EXOMIND, the applicator is placed on the head and it uses magnetic pulses to stimulate or suppress brain activity. The technology addresses key brain areas involved in emotional regulation, cognitive function and self-control. To maximize results, doctors recommend a treatment twice a week for three weeks.
A bonus? Research shows that 100% of patients experienced reduced food cravings and, on average, reported a four-to-five-pound weight loss after six treatments.
In addition to EXOMIND, Between the Bridges Healing Center provides patients with other state-of-the-art technologies, such as Emsculpt NEO, which uses muscle activation and heat to burn up fat and build muscle in hard-to-treat areas, including the abdomen, buttocks, arms and thighs.
To address incontinence, there is EMSELLA, a device using muscle activation to strengthen the pelvic floor. Patients sit fully clothed in the EMSELLA chair for 28-minute sessions. The procedure is very successful, with a 98% patient satisfaction rate for restoring bladder function.
To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Between the Bridges Healing Center, 45 Teton Lane, Mankato, is offering an EXOMIND launch party, 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2025. Attendees can discover EXOMIND and demo several technologies as well as enjoy refreshments, raffle prizes, and discounted pricing. RSVP is required. Those interested can call 507-388-7488 or visit bridgeshealingcenters.com.

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Children's Hospital Colorado Researchers Conduct First Prospective Study of Pediatric EoE Patients and Disease Progression
Study found that stiffness of the esophagus could serve as an important biomarker for disease progression and indicate which patients may benefit the most from current therapies PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Researchers from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Children's Hospital Colorado have found that better control of chronic eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE)-associated inflammation during childhood leads to less stiffening of the esophagus, resulting in fewer disease complications. Using Endoluminal functional imaging (FLIP), the study team suggests this could be a key marker for assessing disease severity and progression. The findings were published online today by the journal Gastroenterology. EoE is a chronic allergic inflammatory disease of the esophagus, the muscular tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. Children can experience nausea, regurgitation, vomiting, abdominal pain and a burning feeling like acid reflux. They may also have difficulty swallowing and gag frequently. Often, they can experience dysphagia, which is when it feels like something is stuck in their throat. If EoE goes untreated, the esophagus may narrow because of scarring, a phenomenon known as stricture. Chronic EoE-associated inflammation can lead to progressive tissue remodeling and fibrostenosis, or the narrowing of the esophagus. While clinicians recognize the severity of the disease, long-term studies looking at disease progression over time, and the impact of controlling the disease from a young age, is relatively unknown. 'This is the first study to follow kids overtime (with these endoscopic assessments) and evaluate the patients who are at the highest risk of complications,' said co-senior study author Amanda Muir, MD, a pediatric gastroenterologist in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at CHOP. 'With the recent FDA approval of two medications for EoE, having this data could help identify the patients who could benefit from these therapies the most and observe improvement at a histologic level over time.' Researchers at CHOP and Children's Hospital Colorado launched a longitudinal study to evaluate long-term changes in esophageal distensibility, or the ability of the esophagus to expand, in pediatric patients between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. Symptomatic, endoscopic and histologic data were collected at each visit during the study. A total of 112 patients with EoE were included with a median follow-up time of 11 months, some followed for over 4 years. 'Following children living with EoE over time has given us a clearer picture of how inflammation affects the esophagus and how treating it can improve the esophagus and outcomes for patients,' said Calies Menard-Katcher, MD, co-senior study author and Associate Director of Clinical Research for the Gastrointestinal Eosinophilic Diseases Program at Children's Hospital Colorado. 'It's exciting to see these results confirm what we've suspected in caring for patients — and they may even help us spot those at risk for more severe disease.' The study found that patients with tissue samples showing a response to treatment demonstrated the most improvement in distensibility over time. After adjusting for different factors, the study found that patients with lower esophageal distensibility had increased odds of patient-reported dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing. Patients with fibrostenosis were generally diagnosed at an older age, had the disease for a longer period and showed reduced esophageal distensibility at baseline predicted the need for future dilation in patients with strictures. The authors suggest that further studies that examine the disease from a molecular level could help them understand which patients may be at highest risk of severe disease and could benefit from a variety of treatment strategies. This study was supported by the National Institutes of Health grants R01DK124266-01, K23DK109263 and R21TR003039. In May, the Percentage of Patients with a Telehealth Claim Increased Nationally and in Every Region
Diabetes Entered Top Five Telehealth Diagnostic Categories in Midwest and West in May for First Time in 2025 NEW YORK, Aug. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In May 2025, the percentage of patients with a telehealth claim increased nationally and in all four US census regions, according to FAIR Health's Monthly Telehealth Regional Tracker. Nationally, that percentage increased from 14.2 percent of patients in April to 14.3 percent in May, a 0.8 percent rise. In May, the West had the largest share of patients with a telehealth claim, at 18.7 percent, and the Midwest had the smallest share, at 10.8 percent. The data represent the commercially insured population, excluding Medicare Fee-for-Service, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid. From April to May, changes in utilization as measured by telehealth claim lines1 varied. Nationally, telehealth claim lines fell from 5.01 percent of medical claim lines in April to 4.96 percent in May, a decrease of 1.0 percent. In the South, the decrease was 1.7 percent. In all other regions, there was an increase, from 0.4 percent in the West to 3.1 percent in the Northeast. Diagnostic Categories In May 2025, diabetes mellitus entered the top five telehealth diagnostic categories in the Midwest and West for the first time in 2025. In the Midwest, this diagnostic category entered in fifth position, displacing overweight and obesity; in the West, it entered in fourth position, displacing acute respiratory diseases and infections, which fell to the fifth rank, supplanting sleep disorders. In the South, diabetes fell off the list from fifth position, replaced by encounter for examination. In May, mental health conditions remained in first position nationally and in every region, though the percentage of patients with a telehealth claim for this diagnostic category decreased nationally and in all regions. Nationally, it fell from 63.0 percent in April to 62.1 percent in May. Urban versus Rural In May 2025, as in April, telehealth utilization was higher in urban than rural areas nationally and in every region.2 Nationally, 14.5 percent of patients in urban areas had a telehealth claim, compared to 7.5 percent in rural areas. The largest difference occurred in the West, where the percentage of urban patients using telehealth (18.8 percent) was 2.4 times the percentage of rural patients (7.9 percent). The smallest difference was found in the Northeast, where the percentage of patients in urban areas using telehealth (16.7 percent) was 1.5 times the percentage of patients in rural areas using telehealth (11.4 percent). Age Distribution In May 2025, as in April, the age groups 19-30 and 31-40 accounted for the largest percentages of patients with a telehealth claim nationally and in every region. Nationally in May, the age group 31-40 (22.8 percent) displaced the age group 19-30 (22.4 percent) as the age group with the largest percentage of patients having a telehealth claim. The same shift happened in the Northeast and South, though in the Midwest and West, the age group 19-30 still had the largest percentage of patients with a telehealth claim. Nationally and in every region, the age groups 0-9 and 65 and older accounted for the smallest shares (less than 10 percent each) of patients with a telehealth claim. Procedure Categories In May 2025, psychotherapy services and procedures, and established patient office or other outpatient services (including those for mental health conditions), were, as in April, the top two procedure categories nationally and in every region. The order of the two varied: In May, established patient office or other outpatient services ranked first nationally (at 47.7 percent of patients with a telehealth claim) and in the South and West, while psychotherapy services and procedures ranked first in the Midwest and Northeast. In April, established patient office or other outpatient services ranked second nationally (47.48 percent), while psychotherapy services and procedures (47.49 percent) ranked first. About the Monthly Telehealth Regional Tracker Launched in May 2020 as a free service, the Monthly Telehealth Regional Tracker uses FAIR Health data to track how telehealth is evolving from month to month. An interactive map of the four US census regions allows the user to view an infographic on telehealth in a specific month in the nation as a whole or in individual regions. Each year, the infographic introduces varied views into telehealth utilization. In this sixth iteration of the Monthly Telehealth Regional Tracker, each infographic shows month-to-month changes in telehealth utilization, both through telehealth's percentage of medical claim lines and percent of patients with a telehealth claim; that month's top five diagnostic categories; top five procedure categories; age distribution, which captures the percentage of patients within each age group with a telehealth claim; and urban versus rural telehealth usage.
