Will Zalatoris out for season following back surgery
May 26 - Will Zalatoris announced Monday he will miss the rest of the PGA Tour season after surgery to repair two herniated discs in his back.
"This spring, I started feeling some discomfort and instability in my back that progressively got worse," he posted on social media. "Following the PGA Championship, an MRI showed that I had re-herniated two discs. After discussing the options with my medical team, I underwent surgery this past Friday with Dr. Michael Duffy at the Texas Back Institute.
"I'm happy to say that I woke up feeling good and excited about my long-term back health."
Zalatoris, 28, previously underwent disc surgery in April 2023.
He missed the cut earlier this month at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. His best finish this season was a T12 at The American Express in January.
Zalatoris has one career PGA Tour victory (2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship) under his belt, although he has runner-up finishes at the 2021 Masters, 2022 PGA Championship and 2022 U.S. Open.

NFL quarterback breaks silence after Donald Trump rally appearance sparked furious fan backlash
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph has broken his silence after he appeared on stage at a rally for Donald Trump last month, stating he has no regrets because 'speech is free'. Rudolph was part of the Pittsburgh contingent to join Trump on stage last Friday, giving him a personalized Steelers jersey, alongside safety Miles Killebrew, and four-time Super Bowl champion Rocky Bleier. Days later, Rudolph had the chance to speak out about the appearance after many on social media showed their displeasure for his choice. 'There's backlash on social media. That's the nature of social media. It's the nature of why America's so great because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and speech is free,' Rudolph said. Rudolph being kind to Trump after his appearance at a rally for the president could be a response for the Commander in Chief giving the 29-year-old his stamp of approval. 'I happen to think a really good quarterback is a man named Mason Rudolph,' Trump said. 'I think he's gonna get a big shot. He's tall, he's handsome, he's got a great arm. And I have a feeling he's gonna be the guy.' Rudolph has had an up-and-down professional career since entering the league in 2018, now in his second stint with the Steelers after a turbulent stay from 2018 through 2023. Trump's prediction could be bad news for free agent Aaron Rodgers, as the Steelers looked like the best option left in the league for him to join. The Steelers only have Rudolph and Will Howard on their roster after letting Russell Wilson and Justin Fields walk this offseason. The 41-year-old Rodgers would bring a veteran presence to the locker room, with the team still leaving him unsigned nearly three months after the possibility first arose of bringing him in. Rodgers looked to have plenty of options months ago for where he could possibly land as a free agent, including the Vikings, Giants, and Colts. Every team that could have needed a short-term answer at quarterback with Rodgers fitting the bill, except the Steelers, made a definitive move to sign another signal caller. The Steelers may be in less of a win-now mode than in seasons' past, with their trade of star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys as evidence. Head coach Mike Tomlin may want to develop a younger quarterback like Rudolph instead of a flyer on Rodgers to have postseason success in 2025.

WNBA team's coaching staff under investigation AGAIN amid star's shock trade demand three weeks into season
The WNBA has launched its second investigation into the Seattle Storm's coaching staff in the space of six months, according to reports. Back in November of last year, the Storm underwent a league investigation into accusations of harassment and bullying by their coaching staff, only for the results of that inquest to find that no violations were made. Shortly after Seattle was hit by a shock trade request from six-time All-Star point guard Jewell Loyd, who later revealed she had urged her agent to 'get me out' of the team by whatever means necessary. Loyd was subsequently offloaded to the Las Vegas Aces as part of a three-team trade in January. Now, according to women's basketball reporter Khristina Williams, the Storm's coaching staff is the subject of another investigation by the WNBA and league security just six months later. The full extent of what is being investigated is currently unclear. has reached out to the WNBA for more information, while the Seattle Storm declined to comment. Just before news of the investigation emerged, Williams also reported that Storm star Li Yueru has requested a trade from the team a mere three weeks into the 2025 season. Per sources: There is currently an investigation being launched into the Seattle Storm coaching staff by the WNBA and league security. — Khristina Williams (@Khristina) June 4, 2025 Yueru, 26, only signed with Seattle back in February as part of the same three-team trade that sent Loyd to Las Vegas, having spent last season with the LA Sparks and the 2022 campaign with the Chicago Sky. The Chinese center has spent other seasons playing in both her native country and Turkey over the past decade. WNBA reporter Roberta F. Rodrigues backed up Williams' claim that Yueru is seeking a move away from Seattle, yet added: 'I have been told that part of that is due to pressure from the Chinese national team since she decided to not participate in the Asia Cup to stay in the USA. They expected her to have a bigger role.' 'I have received even further confirmation that is China led,' she later clarified. 'Their expectations were unrealistic as to what her role with the Storm would be.' Yueru has played eight times for the Storm so far this season, racking up 2.9 points per game, 1.6 rebounds and 90 percent free-throw accuracy.

Blindsided Michelle Beadle rages live on-air as her SiriusXM job is stolen by Stephen A. Smith
Veteran sports journalist Michelle Beadle gave her Sirius XM audience a window into the chaotic industry on Wednesday shortly after learning she was losing her job to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith. 'All I ask is to be treated with respect,' the blindside host said Wednesday. Although they knew they were on their way out, Beadle and co-host Cody Decker didn't know they were being replaced by Smith until his interview with Sirius XM's Howard Stern earlier in the day. 'Yeah so the cat's out of the bag, I guess we're talking about it,' Beadle told her audience. 'We weren't supposed to, just as a heads up. We were only given a few hours' notice, but we weren't told any details, we were promised that no details would be released. We didn't even know who was taking our place in the lineup, just that it was going to be announced that a new show was being added. 'Unbeknownst to us, "The Hollywood Reporter," of course, had all the details,' Beadle continued, referring to an article about Smith's interview with Stern. 'So it was a little embarrassing, I'm not going to lie. I've been in this business for 20-plus years, I've been treated poorly a couple times, this didn't feel good, I'm not gonna lie.' Smith recently signed a five-year, $120 million extension with ESPN, but told Stern he'd add a pair of SiriusXM shows to his already busy schedule beginning in September. One of those gigs will be replacing Beadle & Decker. Meanwhile, the other will be a weekly program about current events and pop culture. 'To say that I'm excited would be an understatement,' Smith said. 'I've been on Mad Dog before, had the time of my life. So I'm loving the fact that I get to reunite with my guy, Mad Dog, on his turf. That, in itself, is a beautiful thing. But to then add a weekly show where I have a potent platform to discuss riveting subjects in the world of pop culture, politics and social commentary. 'Let's just say it doesn't get any better than that. September can't come soon enough. It's been a long time since I've been in radio… especially going back and forth with the callers. Can't wait to get re-started. Buckle up! I'm coming!' Some listeners have expressed disappointment over the move, which gives Smith yet another platform to grow his soaring notoriety. 'Kinda bummed, the show grew on me over time,' one fan wrote. 'I don't hate Stephen A but I definitely did not need more Stephen A.' Beadle previously had a couple of stints at ESPN, one of which she thought was cut short because she'd angered LeBron James. The issue, Beadle told podcaster Renee Paquette in 2022, stemmed from her poking fun at 'The Decision' – the televised 2010 special in which James announced he was signing with the Miami Heat. 'I made fun of The Decision, and I was one of about a bazillion people that did,' Beadle said in 2022. 'This was a long time ago, I guess when I followed him, and I got a DM that was, 'Why are you so mean to me on television?' And I just sort of laughed it off, I didn't even think about it. 'Of course I took it personally, it was personal, he wanted me fired, he tried to do that,' she said. 'But then I found out after the fact, when all of this sort of came out, I would get messages or texts or videos from people being like, that kind of s*** was happening to them too. He was super petty and he would try to have some sort of an effect, whether it would be small or whatever, just an effect.' James has never addressed the allegation.
