We are reporting live from the big Galaxy Unpacked event that opened a new chapter in Samsung's foldable smartphone design. We even got the opportunity to test out the new cameras.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 upgrades to an 'Ultra 200MP camera' as its main – this uses the large 1/1.3' ISOCELL HP2 sensor. It's joined by a 10MP 3x telephoto and a 12MP ultra-wide cameras. By the way, the ultra-wide lens now has autofocus, which allows it to shoot macro images. The under-display selfie camera inside is gone, replaced by a more standard 10MP punch hole camera with a wide 100° lens. The selfie camera on the cover display also has a 10MP sensor but with a narrower 85° lens.

We also have some ultrawide shots and tried out the autofocus features on some close-ups.

We even took some selfies with the new front-facing camera. The one on the internal screen is wider, as you can see from the photos below.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 sticks to the familiar formula with a 50MP main and 12MP ultra-wide (usable for selfies on the expansive 4.1' cover display) and a 10MP 85° selfie camera inside. New features allow you to enable automatic framing and image adjustments for hands-free operation – the Flip can act as its own tripod.
We snapped some samples with the main camera, including some 2x crop zooms.

One major addition on both the Z Flip7 and Z Fold7 is support for 10-bit HDR videos, which offer richer colors and deeper contrast. For now, regular 4K videos should suffice. We will take a deeper dive in our upcoming full reviews.

With Mint and Blue Shadow, the Fold has some really pretty color options available this year, though the standard Black and Silver options are excellent too. You can also slap on the new Carbon Shield case for a very different, but still appealing, look as become available around July 25, and the Mint will only be available if you order directly from Samsung's website. Blue Shadow, which is the standout color option this year in my opinion, can be bought in stores as has genuinely made a generational leap with the Fold this year, and has truly caught up to Chinese foldables in my eyes. Theis super slim, very powerful, has an excellent camera, and is a stunner to boot with a screen that features a very minimal crease. If you go for the 1 TB variant, you also get boosted up to 16 GB of RAM, which is always welcome.

Apple insider says to expect iPhone 17 unveiling to take place during this particular week

Whether you're using an iPhone 6s Plus, an iPhone XS, an iPhone 12 Pro, or even an iPhone 16 Pro Max, you are probably looking forward to seeing what the iPhone 17 series has to offer. Yes, some of you like to hold on to your iPhone for as long as you can, and some of you, with the financial means to do so, will upgrade every year. The upcoming new iPhone series is expected to consist of the iPhone 17 , iPhone 17 Air (or whatever name Apple gives to its ultra-thin model), the iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, writing in his weekly Power On newsletter, says that he expects Apple to hold the 2025 iPhone event during the week of September 8th. He also notes that Apple typically prefers Tuesdays while avoiding Fridays. While Monday, the 8th of September, is a possibility, Gurman believes that Tuesday, the 9th, or Wednesday, the 10th, is "more likely." Friday is out, as Gurman pointed out, and Apple tends to honor the memory of September 11th by not announcing new iPhones on that date. Render of iPhone 17 Pro includes rumored new placement of Apple icon on the back. | Image credit-Majin Bu Some of the rumored changes include using the new A19 application processor (AP) on the non-Pro iPhone 17 models. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be powered by the A19 Pro AP. Both chipsets will be manufactured by TSMC using its third-generation 3nm process node (N3P). While the iPhone 17 base model will supposedly be equipped with 8GB of RAM (just enough to support Apple Intelligence), the other three iPhones are rumored to come with 12GB of RAM. The increased amount of RAM on the ultra-thin iPhone, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max should lead to improved multitasking, faster switching between apps, and the ability to keep more apps open in the background before the phone's performance is impacted. The iPhone 17 will feature a 6.3-inch display, up from the 6.1-inch screen on the iPhone 16. The iPhone 17 Air will reportedly sport a 6.7-inch screen, the iPhone 17 Pro will match the 6.3-inch display of the iPhone 17 , and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will carry a 6.9-inch screen. The rear camera array on the iPhone 17 is believed to include a 48 MP Wide camera, a 12 MP Ultra-wide camera, and a 24 MP front-facing camera. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch with a single 48 MP Wide camera on the back. It will be the same Wide camera used by the iPhone 16 model. The thinner body leaves less room inside the device for multiple rear cameras, and the front-facing camera will weigh in at 24 MP. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models could feature a trio of 48 MP sensors backing the Wide, Ultra-wide, and Telephoto cameras. The phones will also feature a 24 MP front-facing camera. We've seen several renders showing off new rear camera modules for the upcoming new iPhone line. At this point, it would be more surprising if Apple keeps the same square design for the camera module, found in the upper left corner of the rear panel, used since the iPhone 11 series. A recent rumor has the iPhone 17 Pro Max , for the first time in iPhone history, equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. Previous speculation said to expect the iPhone 17 to come with a battery close to 3600 mAh, and 3700 mAh for the iPhone 17 Pro. The iPhone 17 Air , limited by its internal space, will reportedly feature a small 2800 mAh battery capacity. When you have a second, circle the week of September 8th which is when we could see the iPhone 17 series announced officially by Apple. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! Samsung Galaxy Watch8 in for review

A Galaxy of new Samsung devices made their way to the office, and we keep unpacking them. The Galaxy Watch8 is the new entry-point in Samsung's smartwatch portfolio and we have the 40mm Silver version with us. But first – a quick unboxing. Watch8 comes in a simple white cardboard box, which contains the watch and the same proprietary 10W wireless charging puck that ends with a USB-C cable. The inside compartment also holds the new proprietary TPU strap. You'll immediately notice the new cushion design, which takes inspiration from the Galaxy Watch Ultra. In short, the casing is made from two parts – a brushed aluminum squircle piece and a round AMOLED display on top. The new design allowed Samsung to make the Watch8 thinner as it now measures just 8.6 mm. It feels pretty light on the wrist too at just 30 grams. Our 40mm version gets a 1.34-inch diagonal, but Samsung is also offering a larger 44mm size, which bumps up to 1.47 inches. Regardless of the casing size, you get Sapphire Crystal protection and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits – a big upgrade over the 2,000 nits peak on the Watch7 series. The updated design also brings Samsung's Dynamic Lug system, which is advertised to bring improvement in health and activity readings. There's a bunch of new health and activity tracking features inside One UI 8 Watch, and we're eager to see how the new Antioxidant Index fares in the real world. Watch8 brings two side buttons on the right-hand side, while the opposite houses the speakers. There's no physical rotating bezel like on the Classic version. Instead, the edges of the panel give off vibrations to simulate a 'digital bezel'. The 325mAh battery inside the Watch8 claims up to 40 hours with Always-on Display (AoD) off and 30 hours with AoD on. As usual, we'll make sure to test this and all of the other key features in our detailed review. In the meantime, feel free to check out our Galaxy Watch8 series hands-on. Samsung Galaxy Watch8
