Analyst states MSU has better wide receivers than rival UM; sparks debate, fan reactions

Does Michigan State have a better wide receivers core than rival Michigan? At least one analyst believes that to be the case. Popular college football analyst and social media personality Rico Rico posted on X that Michigan State has a better wide receivers core than rival Michigan this upcoming season. Rico Rico hinted that "people aren't going to like this" take and that it would generate plenty of buzz -- which is exactly what happened. Here is Rico Rico's original post on this topic: Michigan State brings back one of the top young wide receivers in Nick Marsh to lead the position group this upcoming season. Joining him are a pair of notable transfer additions in Kent State's Chrishon McCray and Middle Tennessee State's Omari Kelly. That trio should be a potent group this upcoming season, and makes me personally agree with Rico Rico about the Spartans having an the edge over Michigan in this area. Broncos and running back J.K. Dobbins agree to a one-year deal

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos beefed up their offensive backfield on Tuesday, agreeing with free agent running back J.K. Dobbins on a one-year deal worth up to $5.25 million. A 2020 second-round pick by Baltimore, Dobbins has an extensive injury history, including an ACL tear in 2021 and a torn Achilles tendon in 2023, but he's been productive when healthy. He gained a career-best 905 yards on 195 carries and tied his career high with nine rushing touchdowns last year with the Los Angeles Chargers despite missing four games with a sprained knee. Word broke of Dobbins' acquisition just as the first day of the Broncos' mandatory minicamp was wrapping up, and coach Sean Payton was coy when asked about, saying, 'I'm not going to answer to any reports. I think we're close.' When Dobbins visited the team last week, Payton said: 'It's just another opportunity to possibly bring in another good football player to help us win.' If healthy, Dobbins figures to be one of the primary ballcarriers along with rookie R.J. Harvey, a second-round draft pick out of Central Florida. Other running backs on the roster include second-year pros Blake Watson and Audric Estime, third-year player Jaleel McLaughlin and fourth-year pro Tyler Badie. A lot will be expected of Dobbins on third down after the Broncos lost their best pass protector in their backfield when Javonte Williams left for Dallas in free agency. One of Dobbins' best games last season was at Denver in mid-October, when he rushed 25 times for 96 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' 23-16 win. 'Yeah, he's a good back, especially when healthy,' Broncos safety Brandon Jones said. 'We kind of go back a little bit to high school and college, so I'm very familiar with him as a person and his game on the field. Yeah, he's a baller. He was one of the running backs that had the better rushing games against us last year. 'So, I'm super excited for him to be here.' ___ AP NFL:

JK Dobbins signs with Broncos, bolstering running back position: Source

The Denver Broncos added to a reshaped backfield Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year deal with veteran running back JK Dobbins, a team source with knowledge of the agreement confirmed. The deal is worth as much as $5.25 million, the source said, and adds an experienced player to what is shaping up to be a competitive running backs room for the Broncos once training camp begins. The Broncos allowed last year's leading rusher, Javonte Williams, to leave in free agency and then used their second-round pick to select former Central Florida running back RJ Harvey. Advertisement Broncos coach Sean Payton said after Tuesday's minicamp practice that the Broncos were 'close' to an agreement with Dobbins, and the team source then confirmed the deal was being wrapped up just before the workout had concluded. Dobbins, who rushed for a career-high 905 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games during his lone season with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024, visited Denver's practice facility for two days last week. Before the Broncos signed Dobbins, 26, their most experienced running back was Jaleel McLaughlin, an undrafted player in 2023 who is entering his third season with the Broncos and was second on the team in touches in 2024. Audric Estimé, a fifth-round pick last year, and former undrafted players Tyler Badie and Blake Watson round out the current room. 'He's a good back, especially when healthy,' said Broncos safety Brandon Jones, who spoke to the media Tuesday shortly after the signing took place. 'We kind of go back a little bit in high school and college, so I'm very familiar with him as a person and his game on the field. He's a baller. He's one of the running backs who had one of the better games against us last year. I'm super excited for him to be here.' The game Dobbins had against the Broncos came in Week 6 last season. He rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown in a 23-16 victory for the Chargers. He missed the second game between the two teams in December as he dealt with a knee injury. Dobbins, a second-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2020, has been plagued by injuries throughout his career. After a promising rookie year (925 total yards, nine touchdowns), he missed all of the 2021 season and half of the 2022 campaign with a major knee injury. The multi-ligament injury was similar to the one suffered by Williams, the former Broncos running back, in 2022. Dobbins also missed all but one game during the 2023 season with an Achilles injury. He missed four games last season, but his production was enough to make him a finalist for the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award, which ultimately went to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. The Broncos have made it a major offseason priority to improve their rushing offense. Denver ranked 21st in the NFL in yards per rush (4.1) and 18th in TruMedia's rushing EPA (expected points added) metric. The team's running backs had only 35 rushing yards on 11 carries in a 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round of the playoffs. Advertisement When Dobbins visited the team during OTAs, Payton said the interest in the running back wasn't a reflection of how the team felt about its young depth at the position. 'It's another good football player that we've seen firsthand,' Payton said. 'I've seen him for a while. The importance of that position group, we really like the group we're working with, (but) it's just another opportunity to possibly bring in another good football player who can help us win.'
