Elvish Yadav often finds himself surrounded by controversies. In a recent interview, the YouTuber admitted that it affects him as well. Elvish mentioned that he often thinks about it and wonders if it is a crime to be popular these days.
'Farak padta hai. Roz sochta hu joh chize kari nahi hai voh chize karni padh rahi hai (It affects me. Every day I think about how I am having to do things I never intended to)," Elvish told Pinkvilla.
'Mai kabhi kabhi sochta hu 'Itna famous hona gunaah hai ho gaya kya? Mere se bhi toh famous log hai voh khush hai, mere sath aisa kyu hai (Sometimes I wonder 'Is being this famous a crime now?' Revealing how he deals with it, Elvish shared, 'Kabhi kabhi sochta hu fir sochta hu sochke kya hi ho jaayega. Toh mat hi socho. Bas yahi hai (I think about it sometimes, then I think what's the point of thinking? So I stop. That's just how it is)."

In 2024, Elvish Yadav made headlines in connection to the Noida Snake Venom case. He was arrested by Noida Police and a case was lodged under provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and for criminal conspiracy under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code. A day after his arrest, NDTV claimed Elvish had admitted to his crimes. A week later, Yadav was granted bail, on a 50,000 bail bond.
Later, the Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner received an extortion call for Rs 1 crore. The YouTuber was in London when he received a long WhatsApp message from a person asking for Rs 1 crore or else they would kill him. A case was also filed in the matter.
Earlier this year, Elvish Yadav made racist and shocking comments against Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang. The YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner called Chum vulgar and He even questioned her name. Following the incident, the National Commission for Women (NCW) also summoned Elvish Yadav and demanded an apology from him.

‘Ignorance, fear and greed': senior citizens increasingly targeted in cyber and stock market frauds

Digital fraud is fast becoming one of the most concerning threats of our times, and senior citizens are emerging as the most vulnerable victims, as discussed at a seminar in Chandigarh where police, Reserve Bank of India, and Bombay Stock Exchange officials shed light on the way forward. At the seminar, organised by the Second Inning Association on Saturday, speakers urged financial institutions to take an active role in educating their clients, particularly the elderly, on cyber safety, and banks to train their staff to detect suspicious activity and launch regular awareness campaigns. 'If you become a victim of cybercrime, report it immediately,' said Chandigarh Police Inspector Eram Rizvi, who spoke at the seminar and shared the dos and don'ts that elderly need to follow. 'Dial 112 for police help and 1930 for the cybercrime helpline. Quick reporting is essential to prevent money from being siphoned off and divided across multiple accounts in states like Jharkhand, Kashmir, or Maharashtra within minutes,' Rizvi said. 'Think before you click. Protect yourself online. For cybercrime assistance, call 1930 or dial 112 for immediate police support.' R K Garg, the organiser of the seminar, said, 'From past times, this is constantly increasing. It is a never-ending battle,' he said, referring to the evolving nature of online frauds that continue to outpace preventive efforts. Narinder Kaur from the Reserve Bank of India, Chandigarh, said digital frauds thrive on three main triggers: ignorance, fear, and greed. Kaur highlighted how scammers lure victims using fake rewards and emotionally charged messages, usually via WhatsApp or phone calls. 'Digital fraud is like a pandemic,' she warned. 'It does not discriminate based on age, gender, or background.' Kaur advocated digital isolation, a strategy of not responding impulsively to messages or calls and verifying everything before taking action. Experts at the seminar agreed that the explosion in digital banking, mobile apps, and online financial services has opened a new window of opportunity for fraudsters. Phishing scams, fraudulent calls, fake investment offers, and digital wallet traps have become everyday threats. These criminals often pose as bank representatives or government officials to dupe unsuspecting individuals, especially senior citizens, into sharing confidential information like one-time passwords. Cybercriminals use sophisticated psychological tactics. 'They don't just steal money. They play with your psychology,' said Inspector Eram Rizvi. 'They grab your mind and manipulate it.' Rizvi said that in just a single day, July 18, cybercrimes in Chandigarh accounted for financial losses amounting to Rs 15–18 lakh. Despite high levels of education in cities like Chandigarh, even former bureaucrats and professionals are falling prey. 'People who have retired from high-ranking positions are becoming the most common targets,' said Rizvi, who has handled fraud cases with the money involved ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3.5 crore. Victims often hesitate to come forward due to embarrassment or fear. Inspector Rizvi recalled a recent case of a woman who approached her four days after being trapped in a 'digital arrest' scam. 'Thankfully, we were able to act in time and save her money,' she said. Rizvi also warned against using public Wi-Fi, stating that cybercriminals often exploit unsecured networks in cafes, parks, or railway stations. She applauded initiatives like ICICI Bank's app-lock system and called for all banks to implement similar security features, as recommended by the Reserve Bank of India. Stock market frauds and the educated class Adding another dimension to the conversation, Poonam Chand from the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) spoke about the rising number of stock market scams. Surprisingly, these frauds mostly affect educated individuals. 'Fraud usually happens with educated people,' he remarked, 'because the uneducated are just trying to survive. They earn for food and basic needs.' Chand pointed out that many educated investors fall into traps laid by so-called friends or unregistered agents promising high returns. 'If you want to invest, do it yourself. Learn about the market. Don't rely on others,' he advised. His message was clear: financial literacy and self-reliance are critical tools in today's digital economy. 1. Never share OTPs or personal details. 2. Avoid responding to unsolicited calls or messages. 3. Verify all financial communications before acting. 4. Use only trusted apps and secure websites. 5.
