Siddaramaiah launches real-time 'CM Dashboard' for development monitoring

The 'Chief Minister's Dashboard' (CM Dashboard), a platform that provides real-time, integrated insights into key development indicators across Karnataka was launched on Friday.
It was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the review meeting with Deputy Commissioners of all districts and CEOs of all Zilla Panchayats at Vidhana Soudha, the seat of the state legislature and secretariat here.
The dashboard, developed in-house by the Centre for e-Governance (CeG), is now functionally complete and hosted under the domain cmdashboard.karnataka.gov.in. This platform provides real-time, integrated insights into key development indicators across Karnataka, enabling data-driven governance and decision-making at the highest level, an official release said.
The dashboard is built using a microservices-based architecture, ensuring scalability and ease of integration, and the data is integrated via APIs (Application Programming Interface) from various departments, eliminating manual entry.
According to officials, the dashboard categorises state performance data into four primary sectors: Economic Growth (e.g., investments, beneficiaries), Legal/Judiciary Management (e.g., RTI, Sakala case disposals), Infrastructure Development (e.g., roads, irrigation, renewable energy), and Citizen-Centric Governance (e.g., Guarantee Schemes, Janaspandana).
Designed to promote transparency, the portal displays real-time progress metrics and enables public access to key schemes and service outcomes, they said.

Unwell or sidelined? Shivakumar left out from Siddaramaiah's meetings with MLAs

In a move that has once again highlighted simmering tensions within the Karnataka Congress, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday convened a meeting with all party legislators at his chamber in Vidhana Soudha to discuss the allocation of Rs 50 crore development grants. The development has raised eyebrows within the party, especially as Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has been kept out of the exercise, fuelling fresh speculation over the growing rift between the two top grants were announced following a meeting between Congress Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala and the party's MLAs, after which discussions were held with both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. Sources said the high command had advised both leaders to take legislators into confidence, especially those upset with the government's handling of funds and regional despite this, the Chief Minister decided to go ahead with the meeting without including Shivakumar in the process. According to party insiders, MLAs said that the Deputy Chief Minister's exclusion had left them 'anxious'. Meanwhile, Home Minister G Parameshwara defended the Chief Minister's decision, clarifying that similar constituency-level meetings were held during the previous tenure as well. 'The Chief Minister will meet and speak with MLAs district-wise. Rs 50 crore is being granted to MLAs. Other constituency issues and party developments will also be discussed. This isn't new. In the last tenure too, when I was state Congress committee president, the Chief Minister came to the party office and we met all MLAs,' he added, 'We are in the middle of a five-year tenure. What can be done in the next two-and-a-half years will be discussed. The Deputy Chief Minister is unwell, or he might have come.' However, Shivakumar's scheduled departmental meeting raised questions about the actual reason for his absence from the Chief Minister's is not the first instance where Shivakumar has been excluded. During budget meetings held earlier this year, Siddaramaiah chaired the sessions with his political secretaries—Basavaraj Rayareddy, K Govindaraj and Nazir Ahmed—along with key planning officials, while keeping the Deputy Chief Minister out of the time, instead of the usual Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office setting, the Chief Minister is holding the MLA consultations from his chamber in Vidhana Soudha. Party insiders saw this as a deliberate move to assert control and sideline the snub, Shivakumar remained unperturbed and is scheduled to hold departmental review meetings related to his portfolios, including the Bengaluru Development Department, on Tuesday and Wednesday.- Ends IN THIS STORY#Karnataka#Bengaluru

Fertilizers 'shortage': Wrote six letters to Centre, says Karnataka Agriculture Department

BENGALURU: Even as the Opposition BJP is going all guns blazing against the State Government over the fertiliser issue, the Karnataka Agriculture Department has claimed that it wrote six letters to the Department of Fertilisers since April requesting it to supply the required DAP and urea fertilisers as per the allocation. The Agriculture Department said they had written the letters, and even Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote to the Union Government. Apart from this, even during the weekly video conference meeting, officials requested the authorities at the Centre to supply urea and other fertilisers, the department said. The department further said that Karnataka received good rainfall in the early monsoon season, and sowing commenced earlier than usual. 'Also, the area under maize, which requires a high amount of fertilisers, has increased significantly by approximately 2 lakh hectares this time,' the department added.

Activists see red over lowering pass marks in Karnataka, write to CM Siddaramaiah

BENGALURU: A group of writers, activists and social workers have written an open letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in light of the recent proposal by the state's education department to reduce the minimum passing marks in SSLC exams. According to the new proposal, the overall pass percentage will be 33 per cent, while the passing mark would be 30 in each subject. The letter - signed by K Maralusiddappa, SG Siddaramaiah, Niranjanaradhya VP, KS Vimala, Babu Mathew, Banjagere Jayaprakash, Janagere Venkataramaiah, Shripad Bhat, and KM Viswanatha Marathura - states that 'the decisions of our state school education department officials and minister are taking the education system to the brink of destruction'. The address points out grave loopholes that underline the lack of forethought behind the proposal. 'This means that if a student scores 20 out of 20 in the internal exam (it is subjective and usually everyone gets 20 out of 20), and only 10 out of 80 marks in the external exam, the student will pass. The truth of the marks of internal assessment in schools is still elusive. Many students who scored 20 out of 20 internal marks in the last examination did not get minimum marks in the external exam. We don't understand what kind of quality index it is that an objective test to measure the true quality of learning is an external test and just 10 marks in it is enough (sic),' it states. 'This change is not an assessment of the basic purpose of education, the ability of the student, interest and diligence in learning, intelligence, thinking power and achievement, but a change that is pushing students towards numerical passing (sic),' the letter added.
