Influencer Breaks Spine Attempting Nicki Minaj Stiletto Challenge
Never try to walk a mile in Nicki Minaj's heels.
Russian influencer Mariana Barutkina lived out the cautionary tale after trying the viral stiletto challenge—which sees users attempt to balance in heels while striking a pose to Minaj's 'High School'— and subsequently fracturing her back just weeks after giving birth.
'I decided to start blogging,' Mariana wrote in an August 1 Instagram post alongside the video of her toppling off her kitchen counter, 'and here I am leaving the doctor diagnosed with Th9 compression bending uncomplicated fracture of the body.'
As the influencer joked, 'the irony? Karma? Or just life, which always tests our strength at the most unexpected moment.'
Mariana's spill saw her attempting to balance on a saucepan and a canister of baby formula stacked on top of a kitchen counter. Although she managed to maintain her balance for a few minutes, the video quickly took a turn when she fell backward off the high countertop.

But despite the minor back fracture, Mariana admitted that the spill was worth the claim to fame.
'Because of one video, which was unsuccessfully filmed, I woke up a popular person,' Mariana added in a subsequent post. 'More than 50 people sent me my reel from different publications today.'
And the mommy blogger assured that she and her newborn were doing fine in light of the fall.
'I'm doing great, following the guidelines and now living in 'star' status,' Mariana continued. 'Whoever worries about my child is also calm, he has two nannies and while I was filming one of them was with him.'
Mariana's fall is far from the only accident to go viral as of late. Earlier this summer, a Savannah Bananas baseball player Robert Anthony Cruz had a taste of social media stardom after a failed attempt at a backflip during a live CNN broadcast.
As the clip made rounds around the internet, Robert assured he was not only OK—but in on the joke.
'Hey guys, for the record you have my full permission to laugh,' he wrote in an Instagram Story July 24. 'I can't not laugh every time I watch it, too. With the sound, it's crazy.'

Russian Mom Breaks Spine Attempting Nicki Minaj 'Stiletto Challenge' Just 8 Weeks After Giving Birth
A Russian woman aged 32 suffered a serious spinal injury after attempting the social media craze 'Stiletto Challenge' eight weeks following the birth of her baby, triggering a storm of outrage on social networking sites. Yekaterinburg nail technician Mariana Barutkina was caught on video trying to stand on a jar of baby food balanced on an inverted saucepan, wearing skyscraper stiletto heels, in trying to replicate a pose from Nicki Minaj's 'High School' music video. In the video, Barutkina ascends to her kitchen countertop in full makeup, taking on the now-famous contortion with one leg over the other. But within seconds, she misses a step and tumbles backward onto the tile floor. The result? A compression flexion fracture of her spine. Doctors have since insisted that she wear a medical corset for three months. The Lethal Rise of the 'Stiletto Challenge' The challenge, which was sparked by a shot in Minaj's 2013 video near a pool where she bends low in stilettos with her legs crossed elegantly, has exploded on TikTok and Instagram in recent weeks. Volunteers, who are largely female, are attempting to recreate the position in increasingly more extreme locations, using household objects to try and replicate the perilous height Minaj appeared to achieve. Unlike the first video, created on stable ground with the help of professionals, social media users have taken the challenge to risky lengths, stacking books, standing on weights, or in the case of Barutkina, standing on baby food cans and pots. 'I Wanted to Start a Blog… and Ended Up at the Doctor' Barutkina said she was creating videos for her new blog about lifestyle and hadn't expected things to go so wrong. 'I decided to start a blog, my first content shoot, and here I am leaving the doctor's with a diagnosis,' she told local news reporters in interviews. 'Irony? Karma? Or just life, which always tests our strength at the most unexpected moment.' Although the injury took place, Barutkina has maintained her positivity ongoing, even calling herself a 'star' following the video going viral. 'Because of one video, which was poorly filmed, I woke up as a popular person,' she wrote. 'People, thank you for the popularity, for your concerns, and for your comments.' Did Mariana Barutkina Receive Any Criticism on Social Media? Not everyone was sorry for her. Social media users have roasted the one-month-old mother for forcing her body too soon after birth, with some accusing her of wanting to go viral at the expense of her child's health. 'I knew this was going to happen please stop no one cares if you can balance on weights,' one user posted. 'Man she got herself a real sports-level injury totally for free. if she was an athlete she'd get paid to stay home and heal,' another said. One of the trending tweets reads: 'Nicki did NOT encourage self-injury, she didn't encourage any of this in fact. Hold my hand when I say this… whew YALL DUMB ASSES wanted to do shit in your OWN HANDS and now don't HAVE NO ANKLES OR SPINAL CORDS ????????????.' Another user interjected, 'Good. Y'all was doing the challenge all wrong anyway. Let's get that done shall we.' Barutkina Fires Back At Critics In the face of criticism, Barutkina fired back with a post directed to concerned viewers. For those who are worried about my child, I will also reassure you, he has two nannies and while I was filming, one of them was with him,' she asserted. The backlash is a reflection of increased anxiety about the safety of viral internet stunts and social pressure, especially from new parents who desire to be seen online. Despite her video making her an overnight sensation, doctors and experts still have to advise that fame must never come at the cost of health. While Barutkina recuperates in her medical corset, the web remains deeply polarized, some mocking her, others admiring her resilience. But what can't be denied: the 'Stiletto Challenge' is now under the microscope for good. Editor's Note: Nicki Minaj has neither endorsed nor commented on the 'Stiletto Challenge,' and the initial pose was shot under professional conditions. Dolly Parton is not one to shy away from bright colors in her wardrobe, so it's no surprise that vibrant hues make an appearance in her (set) kitchen. However, that's not to say that they aren't versatile. The country music legend recently shared a post in a white-painted kitchen, which gets pops of personality thanks to some bright pink accessories, including cups, cake stands, and cookware. When decorating with pink, this pairing with white is clearly a winning combination, providing contrast and subtlety in equal measure. Shop the pink kitchen accessory edit These dishwasher-safe glasses are the perfect pop of color to add to a dinnerware collection. The stylish cut glass look feels elegant and polished. From $32 at West Elm With 10 speeds and a 4.5 quart capacity, this powerhouse mixer is softened by its light pink hue. Rated one of the best kitchen appliances by our expert reviewers year after year, the Kitchen Aid Artisan Stand Mixer is a classic for a reason. From $399.99 at KitchenAid This soft pink mug is chic and feminine, and comes at a fantastic price point at $8.50. From $8.50 at CB2 According to experts, pink is highly compatible with most neutrals, including white, as they complement pink's powerful nature without distracting from it. 'Pink's versatility shines when paired with neutral tones like white, beige, and gray,' explains designer Nina Lichtenstein. 'These shades allow pink to be the focal point while maintaining a calm and balanced atmosphere. For example, a blush pink throw pillow on a charcoal sofa creates a striking yet soothing contrast.' Pink's benefits are wide-ranging, depending on the choice of shade; dusty roses and paler hues give a room a relaxing feel, while brighter ones energize a space. 'Pink, in all its forms, brings warmth and softness to a room, often creating an inviting, nurturing environment,' Nina explains. 'Lighter shades like pale pink and peach can promote a relaxed, tranquil atmosphere. On the other hand, more intense pinks, such as fuchsia or magenta, bring vibrancy and energy to a space, making them ideal for social areas where liveliness and conversation are encouraged.' We particularly love how Dolly's glass-fronted cabinets allow the pink glasses and dishes to really pop, while their white painted exterior provides a delightful contrast. Try experimenting with different shades of pink glassware, pink dishes, or even pink kitchen appliances for a bold look. Needless to say, implementing these accessories is a fantastic way to make a white kitchen more interesting. Plus, we could never argue with Dolly.

What Is Nicki Minaj Stiletto Challenge? Explained
Wondering what the Nicki Minaj Stiletto Challenge is all about? The viral trend has taken over social media, with participants attempting a risky balancing pose while wearing high heels. Inspired by Minaj's iconic stance in her 2013 High School music video, the challenge has sparked widespread attention — and serious injuries. Here's what we know about the Nicki Minaj Stiletto Challenge, how it started, and why it's making headlines. Nicki Minaj Stiletto Challenge explained The Nicki Minaj stiletto challenge is a viral online trend where participants attempt to balance on various objects while wearing high heels. The pose mimics Nicki Minaj's iconic stance from her 2013 High School music video, where she balances in stilettos by a pool. The challenge began when influencer Imanni (@uwantaqua) shared a video balancing on a dumbbell, prompting others to join in with their versions using stools, kitchenware, and pottery equipment. On August 5, 2025, Nicki Minaj herself participated in the challenge, sharing a video on Instagram. She captioned it: 'Dear Barbz, about that pose… this Chanel dress was just a tad shorter than I thought and the thongs definitely didn't help. Didn't want to make it explicit. Both feet on the ground tho. Ten toes. Ima put on a diff outfit that won't show so much skin and do it again for you guys later. Love.' The trend gained further attention after Russian influencer Mariana Barutkina fractured her spine attempting the challenge. Eight weeks postpartum, she tried to balance on a saucepan and a baby formula can while wearing stilettos. After losing her balance and falling, she wrote: 'TREND OR WHOLE SPINE? I decided to start a blog, first content shoot — and here I am leaving the doctor with a diagnosis of 'uncomplicated compression flexion fracture of the body.' Irony? Karma? Or just life, which always tests our strength at the most unexpected moment.' Barutkina later addressed the viral attention: 'Because of one video, which was poorly filmed, I woke up as a popular person. People, thank you for the popularity, for your concerns and for your comments. I am doing great, I am following the recommendations and now I live in the status of a 'star.'' Multiple celebrities have since joined the trend, making it one of the most discussed viral challenges of 2025. The post What Is Nicki Minaj Stiletto Challenge?
