Fredriksen has reportedly fired more than a dozen domestic employees and is arranging for discreet viewings of the 30,000-square-food mansion known as The Old Rectory, cementing his departure from Britain.
The Old Rectory in Chelsea is one of Britain's most expensive houses at an estimated $337 million (£250 million) and includes 10 bedrooms, a ballroom and two acres of land—the third-largest private gardens in London.
The move to sell the famous property comes one month after Fredriksen blamed the abolishment of non-domicile tax status (which previously allowed non-citizen residents to only pay British taxes on the money they earned in the country) for his decision to leave the U.K.
He confirmed to E24, a Norwegian publication, that he was relocating to the United Arab Emirates and declared, 'the entire western world is on its way down."
Fredriksen closed the London headquarters of Seatankers Management, one of his private shipping businesses, earlier this year.

Fredriksen is just the latest of the United Kingdom's super wealthy residents to leave the country. Britain is losing millionaires and billionaires faster than any of the other wealthiest countries in the world, according to Henley & Partners, and 16,500 millionaires are expected to leave this year. The U.K. ranks fifth in the world in terms of its high-net-worth ($1 million and above) individual population, but is the only one of the world's 10 richest countries to have negative millionaire growth over the past decade. Tax reforms—including a hike in inheritance tax, 15% value-added tax on private school fees and shifts in the residence-based tax system—have all made the U.K. increasingly unattractive to high-net-worth investors, Henley reports. Others to have recently left Britain include billionaires Christian Angermayer and Nassef Sawiris, who owns Aston Villa.
Montenegro has seen the highest millionaire growth by percentile than any other country in the last decade. Its millionaire population has ballooned by 124%. The United Arab Emirates is in second place (98%), followed by Malta (87%), the U.S. (87%) and China (74%). Big Number
9,800. That's how many millionaires are expected to move to the UAE this year, more than any other country. Together, they're expected to be worth an estimated $63 billion. Tangent
The Old Rectory in Chelsea dates back to the 1720s and the site was formerly home to the rector of Chelsea parish church, which dates back to 1157. It was refurbished in the 1990s and sold to Greek shipping magnate Theodore Angelopoulos in 1995 for $30 million (£22 million), after which it long held the record for London's largest and most expensive property sale. Fredriksen bought the property for $50 million (£37 million) in 2001 and reportedly turned down an unsolicited $135 million (£100 million) offer from Russian business oligarch Roman Abramovich to buy the property in 2004. Forbes Valuation
Fredriksen, an 81-year-old Cypriot national, was the 136th-richest man in the world as of Monday. He has an estimated net worth of $17.3 billion, which he made in the oil and shipping businesses. Today, his empire includes oil tankers, dry bulkers, LNG carriers and deepwater drilling rigs. He is expected to hand control of his empire to his twin daughters, Cecilie and Kathrine Fredriksen. BlackRock Stock Gains 20.6% in Three Months: Should You Buy It Now?
In the past three months, BlackRock, Inc.'s BLK shares have risen 20.6%, outperforming the S&P 500 index, the Zacks Finance sector and the industry. The stock has outperformed its peer, SEI Investments SEIC, while underperforming another peer, Invesco Ltd. IVZ. Three-Month BLK Price Performance Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Given the uncertain tariff policies and volatile backdrop, let us decipher whether BLK stock is worth adding to your portfolio. Major Factors That Support BlackRock Strategic Acquisitions: BlackRock has been expanding its footprint in domestic and global markets through acquisitions. In July 2025, it agreed to acquire ElmTree Funds and concluded the buyout of HPS Investment Partners to deepen its private market offerings. In March, it bought Preqin, a premier independent provider of private markets data, for almost $3.2 October 2024, BLK acquired Global Infrastructure Partners to enhance its infrastructure offerings and origination capabilities. In May 2024, it completed the buyout of the remaining 75% stake in SpiderRock, solidifying its separately managed accounts offerings. These buyouts reflect a strategic expansion of the company's Aladdin technology business into the rapidly growing private markets data segment. In 2023, the company took over London-based Kreos Capital. Besides these, in the past, the company has acquired numerous firms across the globe, strengthening its presence and market share. Product Diversification to Boost AUM: BlackRock has been focusing on diversifying its product suite and revenue mix, which has been improving its assets under management (AUM) over the years. The company's inorganic growth strategy also contributed to its AUM witnessed a five-year (2019-2024) compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.2%. The uptrend continued during the first half of 2025. As of June 30, 2025, BlackRock's total AUM was a record $12.52 trillion, with net inflows of $152 billion in the first half of 2025. Last year, the company witnessed record net inflows of $641 billion, including industry-leading exchange-traded funds (ETFs) net inflows of $390 billion. The momentum will likely continue as efforts to strengthen the iShares unit (offering more than 1,400 ETFs globally) and ETF operations (it received approval for spot Bitcoin and ether ETFs) and enhanced focus on the active equity business are likely to offer June, the company's India-based joint venture, Jio BlackRock Investment Advisers, obtained approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to operate as an investment adviser in product diversification efforts are likely to bolster BLK's revenue mix, reduce revenue concentration risk and allow it to serve a broader range of clients, aiding AUM growth. The company's GAAP revenues witnessed a CAGR of 7% over the last five years ended 2024, with the momentum continuing in the first six months of the combination of HPS Investment, Preqin and GIP data with BLK's alternative asset management platform, eFront, will drive solid revenue growth going forward. Sales Estimates Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Impressive Capital Distributions: On the back of a solid balance sheet, BlackRock announced a 2% hike in its quarterly dividend to $5.21 per share in January 2025. BLK has increased its dividend five times in the last five years with an annualized dividend growth rate of 7.3%. Also, the company has a 45% dividend payout ratio, while its peers, SEI Investments and Invesco, have 18% and 48% payout ratios, respectively. Dividend Yield Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Also, BlackRock has a share repurchase plan in place. In the first half of 2025, the company repurchased $750 worth of shares. The company expects to repurchase at least $375 million worth of shares per quarter in 2025. Bullish Analyst Sentiments for BLK Over the past week, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for 2025 and 2026 earnings of $47.35 and $51.91, respectively, has been revised marginally upward. Estimate Revision Trend Image Source: Zacks Investment Research The projected figures imply growth of 8.6% and 9.6% for 2025 and 2026, respectively. How to Play BlackRock Stock Now In terms of valuation, BLK's price-to-book ratio (P/B) of 3.57X is lower than the industry's 3.92X. Thus, the stock is trading at a discount. This suggests that investors may be paying a lower price relative to the company's expected earnings growth. Price-to-Book Ratio Trend Image Source: Zacks Investment Research On the other hand, SEI Investments has a P/B of 4.64X, while Invesco's P/B is 0.63X. Thus, BlackRock stock is inexpensive compared with SEI Investments, while it is trading at a massive premium against Invesco. BlackRock is well-positioned to capitalize on acquisitions and expand its presence in the fast-growing private markets. The record AUM level and product diversification efforts are other tailwinds for the company. Moreover, lower valuation compared to the industry and bullish investor sentiments are other positives. Further, BlackRock's growth initiatives have helped generate higher returns. This is demonstrated by the company's return on equity (ROE) of 15.83% compared with the industry's ROE of 10.60%. Return on Equity Trend Image Source: Zacks Investment Research However, a steady rise in expenses is a headwind. The company recorded a five-year CAGR of 7.4% (ended 2024), mainly due to higher general and administrative (G&A) costs. The uptrend continued in the first half of 2025. Overall costs are expected to remain elevated due to the company's business expansion plans and persisting inflationary pressures. Management expects core G&A expenses in 2025 to remain in the low-teens percentage range (including the impact of the HPS acquisition).Further, given rising geopolitical risks, foreign currency fluctuations and the global impact of tariff policies, BlackRock is likely to witness subdued overseas revenues, which will likely weigh on its growth. Thus, investors should watch out for these concerns and monitor how BlackRock integrates the acquisitions into its operations and generates solid profits before making any investment decision. Those who already own the stock can continue holding it for long-term BLK carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here. Sugar Prices Pressured by Stronger Brazilian Sugar Production
October NY world sugar #11 (SBV25) today is down -0.04 (-0.25%), and October London ICE white sugar #5 (SWV25) is down -1.00 (-0.19%). Sugar prices today are slightly lower but remain above Tuesday's 5-week lows. Signs of stronger sugar production in Brazil are undercutting sugar prices. Last Thursday, Unica reported Brazil's Center-South sugar output in the first half of July rose +15% y/y to 3.4 MMT. Also, the amount of sugarcane being crushed for sugar by Brazil's sugar mills has increased to 54% from 50% the same time last year. More News from Barchart Arabica Coffee Prices Sharply Higher on Brazil Coffee Crop Concerns Arabica Coffee Supported by Dry Conditions in Brazil Can Sugar Break Out from Its Bearish Trend? Our exclusive Barchart Brief newsletter is your FREE midday guide to what's moving stocks, sectors, and investor sentiment - delivered right when you need the info most. Subscribe today! The outlook for higher sugar production in Brazil is bearish for sugar prices. Datagro said last Monday that dry weather in Brazil has encouraged the country's sugar mills to increase their cane crushing, diverting more of the cane crush toward more profitable sugar production rather than ethanol. The outlook for higher sugar exports from India is negative for prices after Bloomberg reported that India may permit local sugar mills to export sugar in the next season, which starts in October, as abundant monsoon rains may produce a bumper sugar crop. India's Meteorological Department reported today that cumulative monsoon rain in India is at 500.8 mm, or 4% above normal as of August 4. Also, the Indian Sugar and Bio-energy Manufacturers Association said last Thursday that it will seek permission to export 2 MMT of sugar in 2025/26. The outlook for higher sugar production in India, the world's second-largest producer, is bearish for prices. On June 2, India's National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories projected that India's 2025/26 sugar production would climb +19% y/y to 35 MMT, citing larger planted cane acreage. That would follow a -17.5% y/y decline in India's sugar production in 2024/25 to a 5-year low of 26.2 MMT, according to the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA). Sugar prices have retreated over the past four months, with NY sugar falling to a 4.25-year low last month and London sugar sliding to a 4-year low, driven by expectations of a sugar surplus in the 2025/26 season. On June 30, commodities trader Czarnikow projected a 7.5 MMT global sugar surplus for the 2025/26 season, the largest surplus in 8 years. On May 22, the USDA, in its biannual report, projected that global 2025/26 sugar production would increase by +4.7% y/y to a record 189.318 MMT, with global sugar ending stocks at 41.188 MMT, up 7.5% y/y. Signs that the recent slide in sugar prices to 4-year lows has sparked a pickup in demand are positive for sugar prices. China's June sugar imports soared by 1,435% to 420,000 MT. Also, Coca-Cola agreed to use cane sugar in Coke beverages sold in the US instead of high-fructose corn syrup, which could boost US sugar consumption by +4.4% to 11.5 MMT from 11 MMT currently, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Sugar prices also have support from reduced sugar production in Brazil. Unica reported last Thursday that the cumulative 2025/26 Brazil Center-South sugar output through mid-July fell by -9.2% y/y to 15.655 MMT. Last month, Conab, Brazil's government crop forecasting agency, said 2024/25 Brazil sugar production fell by -3.4% y/y to 44.118 MMT, citing lower sugarcane yields due to drought and excessive heat. The outlook for higher sugar production in Thailand is bearish for sugar prices. On May 2, Thailand's Office of the Cane and Sugar Board reported that Thailand's 2024/25 sugar production rose +14% y/y to 10.00 MMT. Thailand is the world's third-largest sugar producer and the second-largest exporter of sugar. The International Sugar Organization (ISO) raised its 2024/25 global sugar deficit forecast to a 9-year high of -5.47 MMT on May 15, up from a February forecast of -4.88 MMT. This indicates a tightening market following the 2023/24 global sugar surplus of 1.31 MMT. ISO also cut its 2024/25 global sugar production forecast to 174.8 MMT from a February forecast of 175.5 MMT. The USDA, in its bi-annual report released May 22, projected that global 2025/26 sugar production would climb +4.7% y/y to a record 189.318 MMT and that global 2025/26 human sugar consumption would increase +1.4% y/y to a record 177.921 MMT. The USDA also forecasted that 2025/26 global sugar ending stocks would climb +7.5% y/y to 41.188 MMT. The USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) predicted that Brazil's 2025/26 sugar production would rise +2.3% y/y to a record 44.7 MMT FAS predicted that India's 2025/26 sugar production would rise +25% y/y to 35.3 MMT due to favorable monsoon rains and increased sugar acreage. FAS predicted that Thailand's 2025/26 sugar production will climb +2% y/y to 10.3 MMT. Primark-owner ABF gets Hovis deal oven-ready
The London-listed parent of Primark was on Wednesday applying the finishing touches to a landmark transaction that will unite the Hovis and Kingsmill bread brands under common ownership. Sky News understands that a deal for Associated British Foods (ABF) to acquire Hovis from private equity firm Endless is likely to be announced by the end of the week. The timetable remains subject to delay, banking sources cautioned on Wednesday. Money latest - lottery winners has a week to claim prize The deal, which will see ABF paying about £75m to buy 135 year-old Hovis, is likely to trigger a lengthy review by competition regulators, given that it will bring together the second and third-largest suppliers of packaged bread to Britain's major supermarkets. ABF owns Kingsmill's immediate parent, Allied Bakeries, which has struggled in recent years amid persistent price inflation, changing consumer preferences and competition from larger rival Warburtons as well as new entrants to the market. Confirmation of the tie-up will come three months after Sky News revealed that ABF and Endless - Hovis's owner since 2020 - were in discussions. Industry sources have estimated that a combined group could benefit from up to £50m of annual cost savings from a merger. Allied Bakeries was founded in 1935 by Willard Garfield Weston, part of the family which continues to control ABF, while Hovis traces its history even further, having been created in 1890 when Herbert Grime scooped a £25 prize for coming up with the name Hovis, which was derived from the Latin 'Hominis Vis' - meaning 'strength of man". The overall UK bakery market is estimated to be worth about £5bn in annual sales, with the equivalent of 11m loaves being sold each day. Critical to the prospects of a merger of Allied Bakeries, which also owns the Sunblest and Allinson's bread brands, and Hovis taking place will be the view of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) at a time when economic regulators are under intense pressure from the government to support growth. Warburtons, the family-owned business which is the largest bakery group in Britain, is estimated to have a 34% share of the branded wrapped sliced bread sector, with Hovis on 24% and Allied on 17%. A merger of Hovis and Kingsmill would give the combined group the largest share of that segment of the market, although one source said Warburtons' overall turnover would remain higher because of the breadth of its product range. Responding to Sky News' report in May of the talks, ABF said: "Allied Bakeries continues to face a very challenging market. Read more on Sky News:Reeves told big tax rises neededRunway shut after incidentHiroshima survivor's warning, 80 years on "We are evaluating strategic options for Allied Bakeries against this backdrop and we remain committed to increasing long-term shareholder value." Prior to its ownership by Endless, Hovis was owned by Mr Kipling-maker Premier Foods and the Gores family. At the time of the most recent takeover, High Wycombe-based Hovis employed about 2,700 people and operated eight bakery sites, as well as its own flour mill. Hovis's current chief executive, Jon Jenkins, is a former boss of Allied Milling and Baking. ABF declined to comment, while neither Endless nor Hovis could be reached for comment.
