Patna: Expelled from party and "disowned" by his family,
RJD
chief Lalu Prasad's elder son
Tej Pratap Yadav
launched a political front on Tuesday and announced at a press conference his alliance with Pradeep Nishad's Vanchit Vikas Insaan Party (VVIP).
Lalu had expelled the Hasanpur MLA from RJD for six years and also "disowned" him after his photographs and video with a girl, Anushkaa Yadav, went viral on social media.
Taking a dig at his rivals with an oblique reference to his younger brother and the RJD's CM face, Tej said, "I will fight for Bihar. I have many enemies. It will hurt when they hear about it (alliance with VVIP)."
He further said, "Tejashwi must be watching.
I bless him to move forward."
Tej also invited RJD and Congress to join his team and called Mukesh Sahani an "impersonator" (bahurupiya). He said the VVIP is the original party.
Pradeep, also known as 'Helicopter Baba' in Bihar, was earlier very close to Mukesh Sahani before launching his new party VVIP on June 28 this year. Pradeep, a resident of Mirzapur in UP, had differences with Mukesh Sahani since 2021 and parted ways for allegedly not getting respect in the VIP.

Tej reiterated his plan to contest from his old constituency Mahua in Vaishali and said he had already done a lot for the constituency in his first stint as MLA from there.
When asked, Tej ruled out any possibility of Tejashwi contesting from Mahua. "Tejashwi will never contest from there. Leave aside any ifs and buts," he said, confidently.

Goa govt absorbed expenditure of Rs 65cr under zero water bill scheme

Porvorim: During the period for which the PWD implemented the Zero Water Bill Scheme, from Sep 1, 2021, to April 30, 2025, it issued 41.9 lakh zero bills to domestic consumers. The total bill amount of Rs 65.5 crore was waived under the scheme, stated the reply tabled in the assembly by chief minister Pramod Sawant to a question by Velim MLA Cruz Silva. Goa govt officially ended its zero-bill scheme on May 1. The scheme allowed the drinking water bill to be waived for families who limited their usage to less than 16,000 litres of water per month. The idea behind the scheme was to encourage the judicious use of drinking water resources. However, the CM said that earlier this year, the scheme of free water to consumers had to be stopped due to the misuse of water to wash cars or sustain gardens. He said govt is already supplying treated water to consumers by bearing a loss of Rs 16 per litre. Sawant said that the total water demand for domestic, commercial, and industrial uses is 695MLD — with system losses being factored in. The CM told the House that the highest demand for water at 146.5MLD is in Salcete taluka, followed by 123MLD in Bardez, and 94MLD in Tiswadi. He, however, said that no village of Goa faces an acute water shortage. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Jennifer Garner's sweet photo on sprawling family farm gets fans talking Watch More Undo 'The complaints regarding water shortages or non-supply of water are of a localised nature due to power failure, leakages, breakdowns, and the blockage of pipelines,' he said. The CM said these problems are attended to within the shortest possible time. 'In such eventualities, tanker supply is resorted to as a short-term measure. However, as a long-term measure, govt is investing in upgrading and modernising water treatment facilities, distribution networks, and storage systems,' he said. Sawant stated that 11 projects for new water treatment plants or augmentation of the capacity of existing plants are under process. He said that three plants — at Ganjem, Tuem, and Siolim — will be commissioned in Dec 2025.

5,000 occupancy sanads to be issued under 20-point scheme

Panaji: The state cabinet on Wednesday granted approval to issue occupancy sanads to over 5,000 occupants of the plots allotted under the 20-Point Programme. As for allottees who failed to construct any residential dwelling within the stipulated time, and the plots remain vacant, govt may consider reverting all such plots. It will direct both district collectors to identify these vacant plots, issue reversion orders, and take possession. In the monsoon session of the assembly in 2024, a resolution was moved in the House by MLAs regarding the regularisation of houses constructed without prior permission on the plots allotted under the 20-Point Programme. The chief minister and the revenue minister assured the House that the proposal would be examined on legal parameters and regularisation would be considered in due course. Under govt's 20-Point Programme, plots were provided for settlement to economically weaker sections of society. However, since the status of Occupant Class II does not confer ownership, the allottees remain without the title, and the ownership of the land continues to vest with govt, limiting beneficiaries' legal and developmental rights. One of the primary reasons necessitating this policy is the hardship caused to the beneficiaries in carrying out renovations, obtaining permissions from govt departments, obtaining loans from banks, or securing essential public services. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Treatment That Might Help You Against Knee Pain Knee pain| search ads Find Now Undo The total plots allotted under the 20-Point Programme in Goa are 5,179. State govt has classified the plots into three categories. Category A comprises allottees who have constructed a dwelling according to the grant conditions and are residing there with their families or legal heirs as of the current date. Category B comprises plots that have remained vacant and unutilised, where the allottees have either not taken possession or have not constructed any house. Category C covers plots where the allottees have unauthorisedly transferred possession to third parties, who have constructed a dwelling and are residing in these houses on the plots. No reversion orders have been passed, and the third parties remain in unauthorised occupation. Govt will consider granting them occupancy status upon the payment of a premium of 1/20th of the market value/minimum land rate as notified by govt.

Call for action against Adoor

T'puram: Women's organizations, including Women's Collective in Cinema, Disha and Anweshi have filed a complaint with state women's commission against filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan for his controversial remarks at the film conclave. In the complaint, the organizations have demanded that Gopalakrishnan be summoned for an explanation. They also requested that Gopalakrishnan be excluded from govt events, stating that his remarks were anti-women and insulting especially to singer Pushpavathi. Gopalakrishnan made the controversial remark during the closing session of the film conclave. As the comment became controversial, minister V N Vasavan and musician Sreekumaran Thampy came to Gopalakrishnan's defence. The minister said that he did not believe Gopalakrishnan's comment was made with ill intent and that it was twisted into a controversy. Vasavan also mentioned that the govt stands with women and SC-ST communities. However, minister R Bindu responded by rejecting Gopalakrishnan's remark. She said that govt has a responsibility to ensure justice for those who are denied it. "There is nothing wrong with govt providing necessary funds for women and marginalized communities to express their creative talents. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Susan Boyle Is Now so Thin and Looks Beautiful! CPM state secretary M V Govindan also came down heavily against Gopalakrishnan stating that the filmmaker still had a feudal mindset.
