Bulls Share Powerful Statement With Sky Before WNBA Season Opener

Yahoo17-05-2025

Although the Chicago Sky had immense talent, the 2024 season was a bit disappointing for the franchise. They won just 13 games and missed the playoffs despite landing two players on the All-Rookie team and having a top-15 scorer in the league.
The silver lining, however, was that the team replaced head coach Teresa Weatherspoon with Tyler Marsh this offseason. He is already making a great impact in terms of roster building and developing young players like Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and Hailey Van Lith.

With the new era kicking off, the Sky are set to open up their 2025 campaign on the road with an intense matchup against the Indiana Fever, who became their rivals last season.

This will be the first of five matchups set to take place between these two franchises in 2025.
Hours before tipoff, the Chicago Bulls sent a powerful message to the Sky, their sister team.
"The whole city is supporting 💙💛," the Bulls wrote. "Best of luck this season, @chicagosky!"
The Bulls have fallen on hard times in recent years, but they are one of the most storied and decorated franchises in NBA history. They have won six NBA championships and have an all-time winning percentage of 50.9%.

While the Sky are a much younger organization and have a championship of their own, they would love to join the Bulls as a historic franchise in their respective sport. Unfortunately, the Sky have not won a playoff series since 2022.
Chicago made a coaching change this offseason, but they also added recent WNBA champion point guard Courtney Vandersloot, as well as solid veterans like Ariel Atkins and Rebecca Allen. They will also have a healthy Elizabeth Williams return to the lineup.
It will be a tough first matchup for the Sky, as the Fever also made several massive upgrades this offseason. However, with the city behind them, anything is possible on opening day.

Noah Brown carted off field at Commanders minicamp. Jeremy Reaves gets extended, AP source says

Washington Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown was carted off the field after getting injured during minicamp in Ashburn, Virginia, on Wednesday. It was not immediately clear what happened to cause the injury or its extent. Reporters in attendance reported Brown walked off slowly after making a catch, threw his helmet in frustration when he reached the sideline and was carted up the hill to the practice facility. Brown, who caught Jayden Daniels' desperation pass against Chicago for one of the Commanders' signature moments last season, missed the final four games of last season and their playoff run to the NFC championship game with a kidney injury. He re-signed on a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million. Washington also took care of some longer-term business Wednesday, signing safety and special teams ace Jeremy Reaves to a one-year extension through the 2026 NFL season, according to a person with knowledge of the move. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team did not announce the deal. 'Grateful for the journey, the fans, this team and organization,' Reaves posted on social media. 'Much more in store!' Reaves, now 28, was an All-Pro selection on special teams in 2022. He missed the majority of 2023 after getting sidelined by a torn ACL five games into that season. ___ AP NFL:
