Now, the RFL's Match Review Panel have handed him a Grade E spitting charge, which results in an immediate referral to the Operational Rules Tribunal tomorrow evening where evidence on both sides can be presented.
If the charge is proven, Sue faces a minimum ban of six matches with the number of penalty points added to his record at the discretion of the tribunal.
Two other charges have emerged from Saturday's final, both of which are for Hull KR players.
Thewlis is involved in another having been hit by an early high tackle by Rovers winger Joe Burgess as he caught a high kick.
Burgess has now been handed a Grade B head contact charge and has had three penalty points added to his record.
