BJP MP Manoj Tiwari confident India will soon become 3rd largest economy
New Delhi [India], May 25 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari on Sunday exuded confidence that India will soon overtake Germany to become the world's third-largest economy, noting that the difference between both countries is a close one.
Speaking with ANI, 'We heard from the PM and the NITI Aayog itself during 2024 Lok Sabha Elections that we will become the third largest economy. We have come very near to our target. Along with Japan, the other country (Germany) is also at a close distance. We will soon be ahead. We are just waiting for a formal announcement of India becoming the third largest economy of the world.
Manoj Tiwari comment came after NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer (CEO) BVR Subrahmanyam said that India has overtaken Japan to become the world's fourth-largest economy, citing data by the International Monetary Fund.
BVR Subrahmanyam also highlighted that India can overtake Germany in another 2, 2.5 to 3 years.
'We are the fourth largest economy as I speak. We are a USD 4 trillion economy as I speak, and this is not my data. This is IMF data. India today is larger than Japan. It's only the United States, China, and Germany which are larger, and if we stick to, you know, what is being planned, what is being thought through, it's a matter of another 2, 2.5 to 3 years; we would become the third largest economy,' said BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog.

According to the IMF's April edition of the World Economic Outlook report, the nominal GDP for fiscal 2026 is expected to reach around USD 4,187.017 billion. This is marginally more than the likely GDP of Japan, which is estimated at USD 4,186.431 billion.
India was the fifth-largest economy in the world till 2024.
The global financial body projects that India will remain the fastest-growing major economy over the next two years. India's economy is expected to grow by 6.2 per cent in 2025 and 6.3 per cent in 2026, maintaining a solid lead over global and regional peers, the April 2025 edition of the IMF's World Economic Outlook added.
India is projected to remain the fastest-growing large economy for 2025 and 2026, reaffirming its dominance in the global economic landscape. In contrast, the IMF projects global economic growth to be much lower, at 2.8 per cent in 2025 and 3.0 per cent in 2026, highlighting India's exceptional outperformance. (ANI)

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on Friday confirmed the recovery of the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR), commonly referred to as the black box, from the rooftop of a building at the site of the Air India Flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad. The AAIB has launched a full-scale investigation into the crash, with over 40 staff from the Gujarat State Government joining efforts to support the Ministry of Civil Aviation teams on the ground. The black box, a critical piece of evidence, will be analysed to determine the cause of the tragic crash. (ANI)

"Congress and its clown CM'S antics won't deter us": KTR slams Revanth Reddy over ACB summons in Formula E case
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 13 (ANI): BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday, shortly after receiving a notice from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to appear before it on June 16 in connection with alleged irregularities in the Formula E race held in Hyderabad. Taking to X, KTR wrote, 'When you cannot run a government, keep people busy with a circus and distractions! Congress and its clown CM's antics won't deter us.' KTR said that he would cooperate with the ACB officials, asserting that the Rs 44 crore in question was transferred through official banking channels and remains in the Formula E account. 'I have been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau to appear for 'investigation' on Monday at 10am, in Formula-E case where 44 crore was transferred from Bank to Bank and the money is very much in the Account of FE. As a law-abiding citizen, I will attend and fully cooperate with the ACB officials!' he said. Taking a swipe at Revanth Reddy, KTR invoked the 2015 cash-for-vote scandal, saying, 'Meanwhile, can someone remind me who just completed 10 years of being caught with a Black Bag full of cash?' Challenging Revanth Reddy to a public face-off, KTR proposed a lie detector test, stating, 'Mr. Revant Reddy, As we both are facing an ongoing ACB investigation, Why not both of us take a Lie Detector test in the presence of a Judge, broadcast it on Live Television and let the whole of Telangana decide who's the culprit. Do you have the courage to take the test along with me?' He also criticised the alleged misuse of public funds, saying, 'Why waste crores of public money by repeated enquiries and propaganda, especially when you keep claiming every day that the state is bankrupt.' "We need thorough inquiry": KC Venugopal on Air India plane crash
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], June 13 (ANI): Congress leader KC Venugopal on Friday said that the inquiry into the Air India flight plane crash near the Ahmedabad airport should be expedited and that there should be a clear-cut answer to why this accident happened. Speaking with ANI, KC Venugopal described the plane crash as 'one of the most shocking incidents' and said that there should be a clear-cut answer why this accident happened. 'What happened in Ahmedabad yesterday was one of the most shocking incidents. There are no words to explain need a thorough inquiry about that. I think there is an established convention to inquire about flight accidents. I think that should be expedited, there should be clear-cut answer why this accident happened. Only an inquiry can reveal this,' KC Venugopal said. On Thursday, the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was bound for London from Ahmedabad, crashed shortly after takeoff. There were 242 people on board, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Among the victims was former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Of the passengers, 241 died in the crash. The lone survivor, identified as Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.
