West Bengal: BSF personnel celebrate International Yoga Day in Siliguri
Stating the importance of yoga for physical and mental health, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) BSF Chiter Pal said that it was essential to include yoga in routine life.
' I think Yoga is needed for both physical and mental health as it provides peace. Our jawans do physical activities, but we have also included Yoga in our routine as it is good for everyone...Today is the 11th International Yoga Day, and the direction that the country has under the leadership of PM Modi and the direction and guidelines that we have received from our DG, we have organised a Yoga event here...' Pal told ANI.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army also organised a yoga session at the world's highest battlefield, in Siachen. Multiple soldiers, veterans, families and children participated in the session.
Highlighting the theme of 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' in a post on X, the Army wrote, 'On the 11th International Day of Yoga IDY 2025, Indian Army conducted Yoga sessions from the world's highest battlefield Siachen to all the terrains & climatic conditions through the expanse of the country. IDY2025 witnessed enthusiastic participation from Serving Soldiers, Veterans, Families, Children & Civilians embracing 'Yoga as a Way of Life'.
Earlier, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) performed yoga on the banks of Pangong Tso at Border Outposts (BOPs) Dhan Singh Thapa and Chartse, located at 14,100-14,200 feet above sea level.
The 54th Battalion of ITBP performed yoga in the lead up to International Yoga Day. Sharing the visuals on X, ITBP wrote, '54 Bn #ITBP organised a yoga session as a prelude to International Yoga Day 2025. Himveers participated with zeal, reinforcing the spirit of wellness and discipline.'
4th Corps of ITBP, Dirang (Arunachal Pradesh) organised yoga sessions at an altitude above 12000 feet. Sharing on X, ITBP wrote, '4th Corps #ITBP, Dirang (Arunachal Pradesh) organised yoga sessions and cleanliness drives at the Corps Headquarters and forward posts at altitudes above 12000 feet.' (ANI)

Various schemes to financially support divyang's healthcare: Govt
New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) The Government today told Parliament that a slew of schemes aimed at improving healthcare access and financial support for persons with disabilities (PwD) has been launched for the welfare of the sector in the past few years. Under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), the Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme provides affordable health coverage specifically for PwD wherein beneficiaries can avail up to Rs. 1 lakh in medical insurance benefits without the requirement of pre-insurance medical tests, ensuring easy access to healthcare services. This was stated by Union Minister of State for Health, Prataprao Jadhav in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. He further said the central flagship scheme, PM-JAY, offers cashless treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary healthcare. Approximately 12 crore families, including many PwDs identified through the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC-2011), are set to benefit. The scheme particularly emphasises support for rural and vulnerable populations, with specific inclusion criteria such as 'Disabled member and no able-bodied adult member.' The National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021, provides vital financial assistance of up to Rs. 50 lakhs for the treatment of 63 rare diseases. This support is delivered through 14 designated Centres of Excellence, significantly reducing out-of-pocket expenses for affected families and improving access to specialised care, said the Minister. Further, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) in its order has directed the insurers to make available products/add-ons/riders to provide wider choice to the policyholders/prospects catering to all ages, all types of existing medical conditions, pre-existing diseases, chronic conditions etc, added Jadhav. Israeli probe finds Gaza hunger reports inflated, deaths misattributed
Tel Aviv [Israel] August 12 (ANI/TPS): Israel's security establishment said Tuesday that a detailed investigation had exposed 'the lie of the 'starvation campaign,'" accusing Hamas of fabricating and exaggerating claims of famine in the Gaza to the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), the inquiry found that Hamas' Ministry of Health 'biased and misleadingly" presented malnutrition data, sometimes attributing deaths of people with severe pre-existing conditions to hunger. 'Hamas is cynically using tragic images and misusing them for the purposes of an awareness campaign," COGAT said, calling the reports 'false" and 'a timed pressure tool" to sway international opinion against is a unit of the Israeli Defense Forces that coordinates civilian issues in Judea, Samaria and investigation highlighted sharp discrepancies between the official numbers reported by Hamas and documented cases identified in media or social media. The investigation found that a combination of black market profiteers and inflation have made much of the aid in Gaza markets unaffordable for most Palestinians.'There is some hunger in Gaza, and it exists only in places Hamas is pursuing it, not in other areas," Professor Eytan Gilboa an expert in international relations and media at Reichman University in Herzliya, told 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas's attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7.
