Meta says it's cracking down on Facebook creators who steal content

Meta is going after creators who rip off other users' content as part of a broader effort to fix Facebook's feed. In its latest update, the company laid out new steps it's taking to penalize accounts that lift work from others.
In a blog post for creators, Meta says that accounts that "repeatedly" and "improperly" reuse other accounts' text posts, photos or videos will have their pages demonetized "for a period of time." Meta willa also throttle all of their posts, not just the ones with the offending content. The company notes that the change is meant to target "repeated reposting of content from other creators without permission or meaningful enhancements" and not content like reaction videos.
Meta has previously taken similar steps to reward original content on Instagram , where the company has actively replaced reposted Reels with the original clip. The company now says it's looking into a similar move on Facebook by adding a link to the original video when it detects a duplicate. Meta going after creators who steal content.
The latest crackdown comes as Meta says it's trying to reduce the amount of spammy and other undesirable posts in Facebook's feed. Earlier this year, the company said it would demonetize creators who share posts with spammy captions and go after creators that manipulate engagement on the platform. In its newest update, Meta shared that since the start of the year it penalized more than 500,000 accounts that engaged in such tactics, "applying measures ranging from demoting their comments and reducing the distribution of their content to preventing these accounts from monetizing." The company has also removed more than 10 million profiles it says impersonated "large content producers."
Additionally, Meta is rolling out new in-app insights it says can help realtors understand issues affecting their reach or monetization status. The new dashboard will highlight potential problems, like unoriginal content or spammy captions, as well as issues affecting monetization.

When the Dallas Cowboys signed All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs to a five-year, $97 million extension in July of 2023, it was initially hailed as a big win for the franchise. After logging 14 interceptions over the previous two seasons, some speculated Diggs would reset the cornerback market as an elite ballhawk and generational playmaker. Yet the Cowboys kept in line with current market values, proactively inking Diggs to a team friendly contract at a time Dallas' contracts lacked both timeliness and thriftiness. With negotiations approaching for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, it was good for the Cowboys to get one in the win column before all the deadlines backed them into a corner. Diggs' deal included over $43 million in total guarantees but came with escape hatch following the 2025 season if things went south. Low and behold things did go south for Diggs and the Cowboys might have just taken their first step in their approach to move away from Diggs and the $57 million he's owed from 2026 onward. The Cowboys are reportedly planning to withhold $500,000 in base salary after Diggs failed to complete at least 84 percent of his offseason workouts with the team over the offseason. This isn't the first time Diggs' commitment to rehab was called into question. Just this spring Jerry Jones offered some rather pointed comments regarding Diggs' approach to his previous rehab. Since signing his $97 million extension two summers ago, Diggs has played in just 13 games. He played just two regular seasons games before falling to a season ending ACL injury in 2023 and he played in just 11 games in his return to the field a season later. His most recent surgery, a chondral tissue graft, is a form of microfracture surgery that involves an uncertain timeline and uncertain final prognosis. It's unknown how much time he'll miss in 2025, or if being 100% is even an option anymore. His medical situation coupled with his absenteeism probably isn't doing him many favors in the Cowboys front office these days. Recouping half a million dollars is sure to ruffle some feathers in Diggs' camp. It could serve as a wake-up call to the 26-year-old, or it could drive a wedge between the two parties. With fellow All-Pro CB DaRon Bland set to hit free agency in 2026, it was always going to be difficult to pay both star CBs high-end money. The Cowboys could be gearing up to cut Diggs and re-up with Bland over the offseason. Cutting Diggs in 2026 would give them $12,558,822 in cap savings next year. It's money that could either get immediately invested in Bland or money that could be moved into a different direction entirely. A lot can change between now and next offseason, but for Diggs this looks like the first step to a final season with the Cowboys. Do you like film photography? Me too. Do you enjoy populating your Instagram feed with film photos? Me too! There's something charming about analog photography, and in recent years, we've seen a rise in its popularity, a trend that's making a comeback (like oversized blazers and baggy jeans). It's then only natural that camera manufacturers get with the times and make modern film cameras. Fujifilm has done just that... but in a way none of us expected. I'm talking about the Fujifilm X half, a one-of-a-kind camera that's unlike any other in its current lineup, and it goes off the beaten track by combining digital and film photography. The Fujifilm X half is an interesting camera as it's nothing like any other camera in the brand's lineup. It's small and compact and it features a 17.7MP 1-inch sensor that actually takes lovely photos. You get access to Fuji's 13 most popular film simulation recipes and filters, and the camera has a dedicated Film Camera Mode which doesn't let you see photos until you connect it to your phone. Long battery life is the cherry on top of the cake. What do I mean by that, you ask? Well, the X half takes regular photos like any digital camera but it also has a dedicated Film Camera Mode which emulates the feeling of analog. When I spent a couple hours with the camera pre-launch, a couple Tom's Guide readers pointed out that this was gimmick. Now that I've reviewed the camera, I say: so what? It's fun, it's so much fun, and I'm here to tell you why. Toggling Film Camera Mode on the Fujifilm X half is a piece of cake. There are two touchscreen displays on the back: the rounded, vertical touchscreen let's you swap between 13 film simulation recipes and several filters, while the rectangular 4x3 screen gives you access to the camera's settings and gallery. To enable Film Camera Mode, simply swipe down on the rectangular screen and tap on it. You then select your roll (36 shots, for instance) and film simulation or filter, adjusting ISO and et voilà! The screen displays a shot counter and you'll need to use the lever on the right-hand side to advance the roll — as you would on a traditional film camera. Also, like other film cameras, you won't be able to see the photos you've taken until you exhaust the roll, connect the camera to your smartphone and use the X half app to 'develop' the film. And you know what? I had a lot of fun with this. Watching your 'film roll' load on your phone and the little animation that shows every photo 'developing' is throughly enjoyable. Analog photography's fundamentals apply here too. Some photos turn out great, some photos are unusable and some are imperfect, and I love that. The X half's photos turn out lovely with a film-life effects (thanks to the film sims), and you can increase the grain effect too. I think it's a nifty little camera (literally, it's so small) for anyone who wants access to Fuji's fantastic film simulation recipes and filters, and wants to take a no-frills camera to a concert, festival or while traveling. But purists will have you believing it's a toy camera and it isn't worth the money. Look, I get it. It isn't really film photography. The X half isn't the cheapest either, retailing for $849 / £690. Its sensor takes only 17MP photos, and video is limited to FHD/48p. No, this isn't a stacked camera when it comes to pure imaging capabilities, but why does everything need to be? Fujifilm's ethos here is that specs aren't always everything, and I see that. It isn't always about how many megapixels you have at your disposal or whether the camera has in-body image stabilization. Sometimes, and this time especially, it's about a stripped back camera that even a child could use. The X half is pure fun, nothing more, nothing less.

Compute power is a big draw for top talent, but not just in the world of AI. Priscilla Chan, Mark Zuckerberg's wife and the cofounder of the couple's philanthropic organization, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, spoke about the appeal of massive GPU clusters for biology researchers during a recent episode of Ashlee Vance's "Core Memory" podcast. "The other thing researchers really care about is access to GPUs," she said. "You're not going to make the most of someone if you don't actually have the GPUs for them to work from." Chan said, "We have that at CZI," adding that the organization has roughly 1,000 GPUs in its cluster, with plans to keep growing. In short, Chan said the pitch is: "Come work with us because we're going to have the computing power to support the research that you want to do." Another important factor is compensation, which she said is "obviously important," though she added that "we cannot compete with tech companies on this." CZI has in recent years narrowed its mission to focus on its "next phase" with a "bolder, clearer identity as a science-first philanthropy." The change marks a strategic shift, as the organization previously also supported education and other causes. "While CZI remains committed to our work in education and our local communities, we recognize that science is where our biggest investments and bets have been and will be made moving forward," Chan, a pediatrician by training, wrote in a memo to staff last year. Zuckerberg made a similar point about the importance of GPUs in recruiting on a recent episode of The Information's TITV show. Meta is spending billions to build an AI division it calls Superintelligence Labs. "Historically, when I was recruiting people to different parts of the company, people are like, 'Okay, what's my scope going to be?'" the Meta CEO said. "Here, people say, 'I want the fewest number of people reporting to me and the most GPUs.'" Meta, of course, has significantly more GPUs than CZI. Zuckerberg has said the company will have 1.3 million GPUs for AI by the end of 2025. "Having basically the most compute per researcher is definitely a strategic advantage, not just for doing the work but for attracting the best people," he said.
