Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's college basketball odds around the George Mason vs. VCU odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.
The second-seeded Patriots defeated St. Joseph's 74-64 as 1.5-point underdogs Saturday, with the Over (132) cashing. GMU is 2-0 straight up and against the spread (ATS) in the A-10 Tournament after finishing the season on an 0-6 ATS slide. The Over has hit in both tournament games as well.
The top-seeded Rams eased by Loyola-Chicago 62-55 Saturday but missed the cover as 9.5-point favorites, with the Under (137.5) cashing. VCU has won 11 of its last 12 games and is 8-2-2 ATS in the past 12 games, going 12-3-2 ATS in its previous 17 outings. The Under is 5-3 in the past 8 games.
VCU won the only regular-season meeting, defeating the Patriots 70-54 as an 11-point favorite in Richmond Feb. 22, with the Under (130) hitting. F Jalen Haynes of GMU had 10 points and 8 rebounds, while G Max Shulga led all scorers with 22 points, including four 3-pointers and an 8-for-8 night at the free-throw line.

George Mason vs. VCU picks and predictions
Prediction
VCU 66, George Mason 59
VCU (-400) will cost you 4 times your potential return, which is too much risk for not nearly enough reward in this A-10 title game.
While the Rams won by 16 in the only previous meeting this season, that was also in Richmond, not on a neutral floor. This game will be played closer to George Mason's (+310) campus, although both schools should have decent representation.
The Patriots won as underdogs against St. Joe's and are on a 4-game win streak. However, it's hard to overlook that 16-point loss at VCU in late February.

GEORGE MASON +8.5 (-110) is worth considering in this title game, as this is a lot of points.
The Patriots have lost 5 straight meetings against the Rams, with VCU covering the last 3 in the series. However, this is the first time they are meeting in the A-10 title game, and the Patriots should be able to keep it within 4 buckets. They're playing great basketball since that wake-up call at VCU.
UNDER 127.5 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.
The Under cashed Feb. 22 in the only regular-season meeting, and the total has gone low in each of the last 3 meetings in this series.
For GMU, the total went Over in each of the first 2 tournament games, but the O/U has split 4-4 in the last 8 outings.
The O/U has split in both tournament games for VCU, while the Under is 5-3 in the last 8 outings.

Georgia TV Station Misspells Name Of Atlanta Falcons QB — And It's Unfortunately Hilarious

A Georgia TV station is arousing attention for an unfortunate typo regarding Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. During a story about a scuffle the second-year starter was involved in during a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans, the Savannah, Georgia, CBS affiliate put up a chyron that misspelled Penix's last name. As you can see in the clip below, the graphic got pretty graphic and referred to the QB as 'Michael Penis Jr.' HuffPost reached out to WTOC for comment, but no one immediately responded. Mediaite did offer some grace to the WTOC chyron operator by noting that 'X' and 'S' are pretty darn close on QWERTY keyboards. No video of the unfortunate typo appears on the station's website, but, not surprisingly, the clip has gone viral ― and is inspiring some pretty ballsy comments on social media.

Mike Vrabel has spicy exchange with Patriots reporter over Stefon Diggs question

Things got spicy in Minnesota when Mike Vrabel was at the podium. The first-year Patriots coach — never one to mince words when calling out the media — had a tense exchange Thursday with a reporter who inquired about comments made by star receiver Stefon Diggs over his Week 1 availability. 'Did you really believe that, Phil [Perry]? I mean, you're a smart guy. I don't know where you went to school – it wasn't Ohio State. But like, do you really believe that? Do you really believe that, Phil, or are you just trying to bait me into something?' Vrabel said. 5 Patriots coach Mike Vrabel had a spicy exchange with a reporter in August 2025. AP Perry of NBC Sports Boston then told Vrabel, 'I'm not baiting you into anything,' and added, '[Diggs] did say he wasn't sure he'd be ready for Week 1.' Diggs, who agreed to a three-year, $63.5 million contract with the Patriots in free agency, is coming off a torn ACL sustained last October when he played for the Texans. During an appearance on the 'Scoop City' podcast this week, the four-time Pro Bowler said he feels 'great' and 'we'll see about Week 1,' when the Patriots host the Raiders on Sept. 7. 5 Patriots coach Mike Vrabel had a spicy exchange with a reporter in August 2025. Eric Canha-Imagn Images 5 Mike Vrabel asked a reporter if he was being 'baited' in a press conference. Patriots/YouTube Upon hearing Perry's follow-up question, Vrabel said Thursday he was unclear about 'the context in which [Diggs] said it,' and how the All-Pro wideout has 'been out here almost every day.' 'I'm excited of where he's at and we'll see when Week 1 comes, but he's going to practice today. Hopefully, he helps us in the red zone, but we can't predict the future about Week 1. I just know he's going to be out there today, and he works hard and he cares, which are two important things,' Vrabel said. Diggs scored three touchdowns across eight appearances with the Texans in 2024 before he went down with an injury. 5 Stefon Diggs is coming off an ACL injury he sustained in October 2024. AP He was traded to Houston in April 2024 by the Bills. In each of his four seasons in Buffalo, Diggs surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and caught a career-high 11 touchdowns in 2022. The Patriots, coming off a forgettable 4-13 season, will be relying on Diggs as second-year quarterback Drake Maye looks to take the next step following a promising rookie campaign. 5 Mike Vrabel is in his first season as head coach of the Patriots. Getty Images The third overall pick in 2024 threw 15 touchdowns against 10 interceptions through 13 regular-season games. Vrabel, a Super Bowl-winning linebacker with the franchise, has put his own flair on the club since being named head coach in January. Beyond breaking up training camp skirmishes, Vrabel is making sure reporters are staying alert with questions. As the Patriots entered training camp in July, Vrabel scolded a Boston reporter for framing a question similarly to one that had already been asked. Ben Volin of the Boston Globe went on to flag himself for a 'total lack of focus.'

Former Bills Pro Bowler views Patriots as team's biggest threat

Former Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl center Eric Wood views the New England Patriots as the biggest threat to the Bills currently in the AFC East. The Patriots generated considerable buzz this offseason after hiring Mike Vrabel as head coach and completely revamping their coaching staff and roster. Like the Washington Commanders last season, some have wondered if the Patriots will be the next 4-13 team to morph into a playoff contender overnight. Who knows what the postseason future holds for New England, but they could present a real problem to the current king of the AFC East. "To me, the team with the most upside is the Patriots," Wood said on The Jim Rome Show. "Now, will this be their year this year? I'm not sure. Can Drake Maye take that next step this year, or is he maybe a year or so away from potentially contending or going toe-to-toe with Josh Allen? I've always been a big Mike Vrabel guy. I like him, I like the way his teams play with toughness. Does he have the quarterback now to get them over the hump? Potentially.' The Patriots have the opportunity to make some noise as soon as this season. Second-year quarterback Drake Maye has already teased significant growth, and the offensive weapons around him have improved. Whether the offensive line has improved enough might ultimately make or break the team. Enough has changed for the Bills to start taking the Patriots seriously. This is not the same team they've big-brothered in recent years. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.
