The 67-year-old has revealed that everywhere he goes, "people stop and ask" him about his intentions to become head of state, which he said he takes "seriously".
Speaking to Brendan O'Connor on RTE Radio One on Saturday, Flatley said: "I've not made the decision, but I have a team of advisers that are advising me on this. I have a huge business to run.
"I have an army of dancers counting on me to make a living. I have a whiskey company, a beautiful young wife and son that I want to spend time with."
Flatley said he believes Irish people don't have "a true proper deep voice that speaks their language" to represent them right now and that if he thought he could be that voice, he would consider putting himself forward for the presidency.

The dad-of-one added: "I meet the average person on the street from five to 95.
"I meet them all and I hear their concerns. And I'd be lying if I said they're happy right now, and somebody has to speak for the Irish people.

"I'm not sure we need another politician... if I'm honest. It's a statesman's role, but I spent the last 30 years of my life touring the world promoting Ireland and Irish culture."
Flatley spoke about his credentials and experience that could give him an upper hand in the race.

He said: "I've met them all. I've met the Bushes, the Obamas,
'FRUSTRATING'
"I've met all those people on a more cultural front, more to promote the country. And I think maybe that's what the job of president is all about."
Flatley has yet to be approached by any political party but has been sought out by "some very weighted individuals people in the know".
The celebrity choreographer finished off the conversation saying: "It's certainly not something that I've made any decision on.

"But it does get frustrating when you see the hard-working Irish taxpayer working as hard out and having no say in things.
"Let it be said that I stand for Ireland and the Irish people, Sin é."

Phypers told the outlet he questioned Richards about the phone but she alletedly "hit and scratched him". VICIOUS ATTACK During an incident on January 17, 2022, Richards alleged in court docs that Phypers viciously used the heel of his palm to strike her in her left eye, causing massive swelling and bruising. Richards claimed that moments before the incident, Phypers became "paranoid" claiming that several potted plants he had just purchased for his workspace contained listening devices. Advertisement The actress said Phypers began screaming and that's when a police officer, who would regularly station in the parking lot of the Malibu property, approached the door. However, after the officer left, Richards alleged in court docs that Phypers continued screaming then "used the heel of his palm to strike me in the eye while calling me a 'f**king b***h.'" Richards claimed a family member witnessed the attack, which caused significant bruising to form around her left eye. "The bruising took a month to heal. I had to cancel two professional meetings and rely on a makeup artist - who was aware of the situation - to cover the injury for an unavoidable work obligation," she added in the docs. Advertisement She claimed her husband insisted she tell others that she had "walked into a piece of his equipment stored on the building's balcony." A judge granted Richards a temporary restraining order against Phypers that will last until August 8, when the estranged couple are due in court. Phypers was ordered to stay 100 yards from Richards' home, place of work and vehicle. He was also ordered to return her laptops and everything he downloaded from her phone. Advertisement DIVORCE SHOCK The U.S. Sun previously reported that Richards was caught by surprise when she learned about Phypers' divorce filing. Sources close to the former Housewives of Beverly Hills star said she felt "utterly betrayed." "She never in a million years wanted to get another divorce and she never in a million years thought he would do this to her," the insider told The U.S. Sun in early July. "It's a betrayal; he promised he would never do this. She made it crystal clear to him thousands of times that they could work through anything no matter how big the problem but divorce was never an option. Advertisement "He agreed. Then did this. There's more questions than answers right now." Phypers is requesting spousal support to continue with their lavish lifestyle, which cost over $105,000 a month, according to court papers filed in "Denise thinks it's egregious he is seeking spousal support from her after she has been financially supporting him all these years," the source added. 'She thought he was different but turns out he's what people warned her about.' Presidential race: Party ‘open to meeting' Tony Holohan and Michael Flatley on nominations
Independent Ireland is open to talking to former chief medical officer (CMO) Tony Holohan and Irish dancing star Michael Flatley , should they seek nominations from Oireachtas members to enter the presidential election , party leader Michael Collins has said. Meanwhile, former Fianna Fáil minister Mary Hanafin, who has expressed an interest in running herself, said at the weekend it would be 'an insult' to the office of the presidency if her party does not run a candidate . Last week saw the presidential election race heat up. The first declared candidates – former European Commissioner and Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness and Independent TD Catherine Connolly – emerged in the battle to succeed President Michael D Higgins. The newspaper quoted him as neither confirming or denying this. Last night, Mr Holohan, who became the public face of the State's response to the Covid-19 pandemic, told The Irish Times: 'I have nothing further to add to this story as yet'. Separately Lord of the Dance star Mr Flatley did not rule himself out of seeking a nomination to run for the presidency. Mr Flatley suggested on RTÉ Radio 1 that he may run 'if I thought that I could be of benefit to the Irish people' . Those wishing to secure a place on the presidential election ballot paper must secure nominations from 20 Oireachtas members or four local authorities. Independent Ireland leader Mr Collins expressed an openness to hearing from Mr Holohan and Mr Flatley should they approach his party seeking nominations. Independent Ireland have four TDs and Mr Collins said 'those four votes could be vital to some candidate'. He said: 'We haven't signed for anybody as of yet.' He said the party had already met three individuals in relation to the presidency – businessman Declan Ganley, Ms Connolly, and another person who wants to remain private for now. Mr Collins said: 'We'd be open to meeting everyone that wants to have a discussion with us' while 'they have to have a realistic chance' and prove they have 16 other votes. Fianna Fáil minister for Public Expenditure Jack Chamber's said he was not aware of any engagements between his party and Mr Holohan when asked about the former CMO on RTÉ radio. He also said Fianna Fáil was 'assessing its options' on the presidential election when asked if he agreed with the view expressed by Ms Hanafin at the Patrick MacGill Summer School that it would be 'an insult' to the office of the presidency if her party did not contest the election. She told those present: 'I firmly believe that the largest party of the country, which is the largest at local level, largest at national level, should be running'. Ms Hanafin has made clear her desire to run for Fianna Fáil but is yet to receive public support from senior party figures. Mr Chambers said Fianna Fáil is listening to its members and will make a decision on the presidential election in early autumn.
